Ronald Weinland Insane?

Ronald Weinland Says His Books and His Interpretations of the Bible Are What He Wants Potential Supporters to Study. The COGwriter Site Instead Urges Those Interested in Him and End-Time Prophecies to Spend More Time Checking His Writings with the Bible.

Today, Ronald Weinland preached a sermon titled “Opening the Seals of Revelation” in Cincinnati. It is available at his church’s website for those who would like to listen to it themselves.

He claimed that events were in a “holding pattern” and that “we are waiting for God’s timing”–for “the second trumpet to sound”. He then stated that the sermon would be going through HIS book (his focus tends to be his own opinions as opposed to the Bible).

He then stated that the “seventh seal” is now open, but that although the Great Tribulation has begun, “it is not harsh tribulation yet”.

He then said that he had thought (and written) that physical tribulation would have began in April (2008), but that “thankfully”, it hasn’t happened yet. He then took shots at some of his critics–he stated that they have to come to repentance and need to change.

He might wish to look into a mirror.

Ronald Weinland even stated that he written before that God inspired his writings and they would prove that he was a prophet–and read (from his own book), that if what was written there did not happen, then he was false. Instead of admitting that he was false, he basically stated that he did not have the understanding of various details correct then.

He again claimed that the first trumpet of Revelation 8:7 was blown on April 17, 2008–this was not new.

He then said that people have had confusion about his sermons. He said he was not “a fortune teller”. He then hemmed and hawed about him stepping down/declaring himself false and blamed people for not understanding what the Bible and he teach. He said several things were very clear–essentially to those who could see things his way.

He claimed that events were happening related to the first trumpet, but that although he sees it, many do not. He pointed out weather and agricultural issues (which at the most are the beginning of sorrows-Matthew 24:7-8–but those are BEFORE the Great Tribulation).

He claimed what is happening now is a witness for the skeptics and mockers (apparently those that do not believe Ronald Weinland) and that his critics were the same type of people who would mock Jesus Christ. He considers people who have listened to him, but disagree, are “filled with bitterness and hatred”–though he almost always sounds bitter to me when he uses the term “mockers”.

I have not mocked Ronald Weinland. Nor am I filled with bitterness or hatred towards him.

Instead I have compared his teachings against the Bible to see if they were so, as the Bible says (Acts 17:11).

Yet, Ronald Weinland has been found lacking.

Here is what Revelation 8:7 will happen related to the first trumpet (which he said occurred on April 17, 2008):

The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

The above simply has not happened.

Regular readers of the COGwriter page will recall that on March 29, 2008, Ronald Weinland specifically preached:

If by Pentecost I’m just going to make this real clear to everyone. If by Pentecost it is not powerfully and abundantly clear that there has been a great deal of destruction that will clearly encompass a third of all plant life in the US and at least the clear results of this mingled with blood the death of very much animal life and the beginning of large numbers of human life then I will stop preaching. Just so all the critics and everyone out there will understand. I am true to my word in these things. OK? And for all the critics if by the end of July and for most likely around Pentecost if nothing has clearly caused great destruction and death I will make it very clear that I was a false prophet. I will do exactly what I said I would do on all of those interviews that I have held; to do less, aah well, would be quite insane. (Weinland R. Three More Weeks–quote from near the 1 hour 28 minute point from the CGPFK website version. Sermon given March 29, 2008).

Pentecost was last Sunday, June 8th, 2008.

Clearly, according to his own words then, preaching today would demonstrate that Ronald Weinland is “quite insane”.

If any still follow him, their sanity now also needs to be examined.  (Perhaps I should mention here that although I am not a psychologist, I consider people like Ron Weinland and his followers to be delusional and not actually insane–“quite insane” was Ron Weinland’s term.)

I have been warning for years that Ronald Weinland is a false prophet.

The events, for one example, that the Bible stated needed to occur at the start of the 1260 days did not start. Yet Ronald Weinland has since repeatedly declared that despite lack of the physical signs that Jesus (Matthew 24:15-22) and Daniel (Daniel 11:28-39), to cite two biblical examples, stated needed to occur then, that the whole thing was spiritual–and there was no need for the biblically required signs.

Some, sadly, still cling to following Ronald Weinland. And have hoped against hope that the physical events he predicted (like nuclear devastation) would come to pass in a month or so since that date. Yet they have not. And while some still cling to the false hope that by July 16, 2008 (the other date that Ronald Weinland stated he would step down at) massive nuclear attacks on USA port cities such as New York and Los Angeles would occur (Ronald Weinland: False Prophet by Mid-June), the truth is that the great tribulation cannot begin in 2008 and Ronald Weinland is NOT God’s prophet.

Do people not recall that he stated the following on a radio interview on December 15, 2007:

A little after April…a dollar bill won’t be worth anything…We’re going to be brought down the tubes, very quickly, starting in April…What happens when a nuclear weapon goes off in New York and Chicago?… If we come to the point in time where what I’ve said doesn’t come to pass, the reality is that I’m just a false prophet. That’s the bottom line… The reality is if it doesn’t happen, then you’re just false…I’ll acknowledge my error, my wrong, if I’m wrong…

It is more than “A little after April”. A dollar bill still has significant value. Yet, Ronald Weinland still has not publicly admitted that he is false as he said he would.

What other broken prophecy/promise has to occur for people to stop following him?

I had hoped and prayed this week that perhaps he would be true to his word and stop preaching. Sadly, he failed to do so. It doesn’t matter what excuses he tried to make about people misunderstanding what he said–he spoke in English and wrote in English and people who can understand English should easily be able to tell that he is a false prophet.

Ronald Weinland did not even follow his own words. No one else should at this time either.
