Glitches Mar Voting in Philippines

MANILA —…Senator Benigno S. Aquino III, the only son of the Philippines’ two democracy icons, was favored to win the presidential election, as he and his main rivals wrapped up their campaigns over the weekend amid worries of widespread violence, cheating and the reliability of the voting system…

Voting in the southern region of Mindanao was marked by computer glitches, disorderly conduct, vote buying and violence.

In Maguindanao, one of the most violent provinces during the campaign period, bombings and gun battles were reported in several areas.

Of course, in certain respects the USA had voting machine problems in its 2000 presidential election, the UK still has uncertainty since its election last Thursday, and various areas have had violence associated with elections.

I pray that whoever ends up in charge in the Philippines (and elsewhere) will rule based upon biblical principles.

Furthermore, notice what the Apostle Paul told Christians to do:

1…I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

Christians should pray for their leaders.  This is a biblical doctrine.
