New Europe: Europe must reorganize into regions and not nation states

Yes. Europe has to change completely because it isn’t able to solve problems but only to create them. …

What kind of Europe do you want?

I want a different kind of Europe – one based on the regions and the peoples. Lombardy is big like Belgium. We have 10 million inhabitants, 800.000 enterprises, a quarter of the Italian PIB, but in Europe we are worth almost nothing. If Lombardy was an independent state we would be the sixth biggest EU country. I want Brussels to understand that there are some regions with which the EU must start a dialogue. I’m very interested, for example, about the creation, in just a few months, of the Alpine Macro-region. This new conglomerate will include eight Italian regions, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Bavaria, Baden-W., Rhone-Alpes and Provence. This could bright about be a real change in Europe because regions would become the counterparts of the EU commission and not the member states. So if we will be able to join forces thanks the to the Macro-region and the Greek case to open the institutional crisis, I think that Europe could rapidly evolve towards a new model which is not the EU with 28 member states, each with veto right, but a Europe based on people and regions. http://www.neurope.eu/article/europe-has-to-change-completely/

Regular readers of this page are aware that I have been writing for years that something like the above will happen.

Why?

Based upon the following scriptures, which show two future reorganizations that will happen in Europe:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:11-13)

Some COG groups, like PCG and LCG, changed the historic COG understanding of this and have sometimes insisted that the ‘ten kings’ refers to 10 currently existing nations (LCG has said 10 or 11).

Here is something I reported about related to this matter back on February 10, 2010 in the post PCG Gerald Flurry: EU to be Smaller:

The word for kingdom does not need to mean an individual country. And while some countries might leave the EU, it is not likely that it will pare down to only ten. Instead, there is likely to be a structural change in the EU that will group certain nations (and/or parts of them) together into some type of configuration of ten (which ultimately, since the EU flag has 12 stars on it, will likely be considered as a group of 12 by the Europeans).

The idea that the 10 nations may be regions or groups of nations is not unique to me. Notice the following comments from the old WCG Bible Correspondence Course (bolding mine):

COMMENT: Notice that the “ten horns” pictured on the seventh “head” of the Beast of Rev. 17 “are ten kings” who have no kingdom as yet — therefore they are political and military rulers who will receive ruling power “one hour (a very short time) with the Beast.”

They will all be of one mind, one purpose…

These ten nations, or groups of nations, comprising the modern revived Beast, are to fight Christ at His coming. This shows the time for the fulfillment of this prophecy…

Remember that there must be TEN NATIONS or groups of nations to comprise the final resurrection of the modern “Holy Roman Empire”! (AMBASSADOR COLLEGE, BIBLE CORRESPONDENCE COURSE. LESSON 32 (1963, 1965, 1967, 1969)).

So, even decades ago, the old WCG realized that it may be 10 groups of nations, or perhaps even regional groups. …

The Bible teaches about some type of consolidation.

A consolidation/reorganization, consistent to what New Europe is proposing, will happen. And yes, it is likely that Switzerland, which is NOT currently in the EU, will for a time be part of it. Other European leaders have called for the elimination of ‘nation states’ (see EU wants UK to get over the idea of a ‘nation state’), and that would be consistent with wanting to one-day divide Europe into regions.

The Bible is clear that the final European Beast power will be a mixture of of weak and strong parties that do not adhere particularly well together per Daniel 2:41-43.

Perhaps it should be noted that American politicians, like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have encouraged the rise and the increase of size of the European Union. They also have supported a variety of regional coalitions. Also decisions that the Obama Administration has made will convince the Europeans that they need to take steps independent of the USA. Notice the following announcement a reader just sent me:

The US Army is planning to reduce the size of its force by 40,000 soldiers over the next two years, according to US media reports.

The cost-cutting exercise will also see an additional 17,000 civilian employees cut from the army.

The reported plan would see the US troop level drop to about 450,000 soldiers by the end of 2017. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-33437533

These type of announcements will make the Europeans uneasy and realize that the time will come when the USA will not be able to afford to defend Europe. Europe will take steps, including related to reorganizing its military.

The EU itself arose from the Benelux nations of Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. In Daniel 8, the Bible prophesied that a little horn would mainly expand:

9 And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Glorious Land. 10 And it grew up to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. 11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down. 12 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered. (Daniel 8:9-12).

And while the above has had a past fulfillment, this prophecy seems to be dual (compare with Daniel 11:27-39). The European Union has mainly expanded south and east of which is where it initially formed (Benelux). Now, approximately 500 million people are now under a new, single (though not completed united) government, called the European Union, headquartered in Brussels. Reorganizations will happen.

The end result will be that the Beast power will arise, become a military power, and surprise many (Revelation 13:1-4). But, this Beast power will not last indefinitely, as it will be destroyed upon the return of Jesus Christ (Revelation 1), which happens shortly after the armies are gathered at Armageddon (Revelation 16:12-16).
