‘Noah’ movie being released–any prophetic ramifications?

COGwriter

A new movie starring Russell Crowe called Noah is to be released tomorrow in the USA and certain other markets. Producer Scott Franklin told Entertainment Weekly:

Noah is a very short section of the Bible with a lot of gaps, so we definitely had to take some creative expression in it. But I think we stayed very true to the story and didn’t really deviate from the Bible, despite the six-armed angels.

The movie has “worrisome” feedback from largely religious audiences at test screenings in October 2013.  This led The Hollywood Reporter to report on tensions between Aronofsky and Paramount over control of the final cut.

Notice also:

Aronofsky’s Noah is an epic, $150 million-dollar feature film that has managed to raise the hackles of some Jewish, Christian, and Muslim leaders (the vast majority of whom haven’t yet seen it) long before its official release on Friday. Some critics say Aronofsky strayed from the Bible story and took liberties with the narrative that they deem to be offensive and “unbiblical.”  http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2014/03/the-terror-of-em-noah-em-how-darren-aronofsky-interprets-the-bible/359587/

I have seen a couple of movie trailers about it and they give Noah’s father Methuselah a role that I do not see in scripture.  Additionally, I heard a radio interview where someone who saw the movie prior to its official release pointed out a number of scriptural inaccuracies about it.

The IMDb posted the following about the movie:

The Biblical Noah suffers visions of an apocalyptic deluge and takes measures to protect his family from the coming flood.

Of course, the Bible shows that that particular flood ended nearly all life of the earth:

21 And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. 22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. 23 So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. (Genesis 7:21-24)

As far as the things associated with Noah and the flood go, a concern that I have had for many years is that if at least part of the original ark that Noah built was found that this would be used to help not only persuade much of the world of the validity of the Genesis flood account (which is a good thing), but that it would also be used as a tool to recruit people to support the ecumenical religion of the Beast of Revelation 13:1-8.

Both biblical (e.g. Revelation 13:4,8) and non-biblical prophecy warn of a time when an ecumenical religion will take over much of the world. If the biblical flood is ever truly accepted as having happened, this will likely represent part of a major turning point in getting more of humanity to accept a coming world religion that claims to be Christian. The movie Noah may get more interest in the ark and finding it. Since many cultures have a tale of the flood (see 300 Versions of the Flood), this will make the coming ecumenical religion acceptable even to certain cultures that do not normally refer to the Bible for their beliefs.

Jesus warned that the end times would be like the time PRIOR to the flood of Noah’s time:

36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matthew 24:36-44)

While many are excited about the upcoming movie Noah, others are concerned that between now and shortly after Noah is released, there will be various signs in the heavens portending the return of Jesus Christ and/or doom and destruction like the time of Noah’s flood. Specifically, the expected appearance of blood moons between April 15, 2014 and September 28, 2015 (Blood Moons and Prophecy). But those views differ from what the Bible teaches.

Of course, those who truly understand and rely on the Bible “have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place” (2 Peter 1:19, KJV). And we in the Continuing Church of God have the sure word because we believe what the Bible teaches and not opinions of humans that do not agree with the Bible.

There is a lot of scientific evidence that confirms that a worldwide flood could have or seems to have occurred.  A reader sent the following:

Genesis states that a great portion of water during Noah’s flood originated deep within the earth!  Now scientists confirm that fact…
Genesis 7:11-12  “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life…on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.”
BBC -excerpt…

Minerals preserved in diamond have revealed hints of the bright blue rocks that exist deep within the Earth. They also provide the first direct evidence that there may be as much water trapped in those rocks as there is in all the oceans.

Researchers have published their findings in the journal Nature. The study suggests water may be stored deep in the interiors of many rocky planets…

But more extraordinarily, the researchers found that the mineral contains about 1% water. While this sounds like very little, because ringwoodite makes up almost all of this immense portion of the deep Earth, it adds up to a huge amount of deep water…

The observation is the first physical evidence that water can be stored in the deep interiors of planets and solves a 25-year-old controversy about whether the deep Earth is dry, wet, or wet in patches…He said: “I think it’s stunning! It implies that the interior may store several times the amount of water in the oceans.”         source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-26553115

We know the great flood happened. We also know that while Jesus will return and the great tribulation will begin, neither of those will be prior to 2017–see also Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End? (that article also has information on the approximate date of the biblical flood that Noah was saved from).

A concern that I have for 2014 and beyond is that more ‘mainstream’ movies with claimed biblical connections are expected to be released in 2014 and possibly 2015 than normal (there are claimed biblically-themed movies pretty much every year, but normally those are not marketed as much to the general public as movies such as Noah have been).   At least one about Jesus and one about His mother Mary were planned when I last checked.  And movies that highlight ‘Mary’ concern me as I have long felt that a false version of Mary will be used to get people to accept a false version of Jesus.

Between the movie Noah, other religiously-themed movies, and blood moons, various ones will wonder more about the Bible and its prophecies.  Some will discount them more, but others may look more into them, and many eventually will be affected by the rising ecumenical movement.
