Obama speaks against Islamic State and Russia at United Nations

US President Barack Obama spoke about uniting against the Islamic State at the United Nations today:

President Barack Obama on Wednesday called on the world “to join him in an effort to degrade and ultimately destroy” Islamic State militants.

Addressing the U.N. General Assembly in New York, he highlighted efforts to build an international coalition to combat the group that has taken over large areas in Syria and Iraq (full text of speech here).

“This group has terrorized all who they come across in Iraq and Syria,” he said. “Mothers, sisters and daughters have been subjected to rape as a weapon of war. Innocent children have been gunned down. Bodies have been dumped in mass graves. Religious minorities have been starved to death. In the most horrific crimes imaginable, innocent human beings have been beheaded, with videos of the atrocity distributed to shock the conscience of the world.

“In this effort, we do not act alone. Nor do we intend to send U.S. troops to occupy foreign lands,” he added, noting that more than 40 nations have offered to join U.S.-led efforts to conduct airstrikes against militant strongholds in Syria and Iraq.

“We will train and equip forces fighting against these terrorists on the ground,” he said. “We will work to cut off their financing, and to stop the flow of fighters into and out of the region.” …

Russia

Obama had tough words for Russia.

“Russia’s actions in Ukraine challenge this post-war order,” he said, citing the country’s February annexation of Crimea followed by the arrival of Russian arms in Eastern Ukraine, where a violent separatist conflict has killed thousands.

“When a civilian airliner was shot down from areas that these proxies controlled, [pro-Russian separatists] refused to allow access to the crash for days,” he said. “When Ukraine started to reassert control over its territory, Russia gave up the pretense of merely supporting the separatists, and moved troops across the border.

“This is a vision of the world in which might makes right — a world in which one nation’s borders can be redrawn by another, and civilized people are not allowed to recover the remains of their loved ones because of the truth that might be revealed,” he said, vowing U.S. support for Kyiv and reinforcements for NATO allies. “America stands for something different. We believe that right makes might — that bigger nations should not be able to bully smaller ones; that people should be able to choose their own future.” …

President Obama said too that his “Asia pivot” engagement remains.

“America is and will continue to be a Pacific power, promoting peace, stability, and the free flow of commerce among nations,” he said. “But we will insist that all nations abide by the rules of the road, and resolve their territorial disputes peacefully, consistent with international law.”

As for the fight against global poverty, President Obama said the U.S. intends to maintain a key role, referring to a new U.N. development agenda that aims to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030.

The president also touched on the Arab-Israeli peace process, saying “as bleak as the landscape appears, America will never give up the pursuit of peace.” http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-islamic-state-un-speech/2460446.html

The Europeans are very concerned about Barack Obama’s Asian pivot, especially in light of the actions by Russia regarding Ukraine and Crimea.

The United Nations is supposed to be an organization to promote peace, but does sometimes approve military action as well as send in ‘peace keeping’ troops to various regions of the world.

Barack Obama wants to encourage a variety of international coalitions. Back in 2009, I wrote the following in a book:

…the Bible predicts that at the appointed time, a King of the North and a King of the South with rise. Various statements that Barack Obama has made suggest that he will implement policies that will likely help lead to the multi-national formations that will ultimately have these kings. …

Barack Obama to Aid the Rise of the King of the South?

… if Barack Hussein Obama is the President of the United States until 2013-2017, his administration will help (most likely inadvertently) lead to the rise of the future King of the South who is mentioned in end time Bible prophecy. (Thiel B. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect. Nazarene Books, 2009)

The Asian pivot that Barack Obama is pushing will encourage the coming final King of the North (a European power) to arm itself as it is less and less comfortable with the arrangement it has with the USA. The Bible also shows that the King of the North will also make a deal with a confederation known as the final King of the South (Daniel 11:27), and a deal that is opposed to USA interests (Psalm 83:3-8).

The King of the South will be a confederation of Arabs, Cushites, and Turkish peoples according to the Bible (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:2-8). Pressures from groups like the Islamic State are pushing towards that–and this type of confederation does have support within the Obama Administration (watch also Obama Administration Pushing for an Islamic Empire?).

While a temporary peace (Daniel 9:27; see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27) will come in the Middle East (watch Middle East Peace? When?), the situation is in remains volatile.

While the ‘Islamic State’ will not last as it is, what will somewhat replace it will ultimately do greater harm to the USA, UK, and others (Psalm 83:3-8; see also Iraq, the King of the South, Armageddon, and Prophecy).

As far as Russia goes, it will not be the real threat to the USA–Europe will.

Yet Russia’s actions are helping propel the Europeans to consider better ways (mainly involving technologies; see also European Technology and the Beast of Revelation) to arm themselves. And the will result in disaster for the US and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (Daniel 11:39).

Despite ostensibly good intentions, the speech by Barack Obama at the United Nations today is leading to a direction that will not end up well for the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

While some seem to believe that a New World Order will be here in months and the USA dethroned from its predominant role in the world, it is not yet the time, but a New World Order will come (watch Market Collapse then New World Order in 2015?).
