Group petitions Supreme Court to stop some of NSA’s surveillance; Snowden comments revealed.
Yesterday, I reported about the ‘police state’ that has been developing in the USA (see ‘Police state’ rules and actions in place). Today, a group has tried to file an emergency petition with the US Supreme Court to reduce some of the surveillance that the National Security Agency (NSA) is doing:

A privacy rights group intends to use an emergency petition Monday to ask the Supreme Court to put the brakes on the National Security Agency’s domestic surveillance program that collects the telephone records of millions of Americans, according to The New York Times.
The Electronic Privacy Information Center is taking what the newspaper calls “the extraordinary legal step of going directly to the Supreme Court” because, the EPIC will contend, the phone records program has made for “exceptional circumstances” that only the nation’s highest court can address.

Because of the vast amount of surveillance and information gathering that the NSA does, at some point in time it may decide that one or more statements made by those associated with groups like the Continuing Church of God are unacceptable. Enough so, that this will trigger a famine of the word of God (Amos 8:12).
Some comments that whistle-blower Edward Snowden made last month in an interview were revealed today:
Edward Snowden predicted more than a month ago while still in hiding in Hong Kong that the US government would seek to demonise him, telling the Guardian that he would be accused of aiding America’s enemies.
In the second instalment of an interview carried out before he revealed himself as the NSA whistleblower, Snowden insisted that he was a patriot and that he regards the US as a fundamentally good country.
But he said he had chosen to release the highly classified information because freedoms were being undermined by intelligence agency “excesses”…
In the newly released interview excerpts, he predicted he would be portrayed not as a whistleblower but a spy.
“I think they are going to say I have committed grave crimes, I have violated the Espionage Act. They are going to say I have aided our enemies in making them aware of these systems. But this argument can be made against anyone who reveals information that points out mass surveillance systems,” he said…
In the new excerpts, he explained his motivation for revealing the information. “I don’t want to live in a world where everything that I say, everything I do, everyone I talk to, every expression of creativity or love or friendship is recorded,” he said. “And that’s not something I’m willing to support, it’s not something I’m willing to build and it’s not something I’m willing to live under.” http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jul/08/edward-snowden-surveillance-excess-interview
Much involving the USA’s government (and others) happens secretly, and includes surveillance.
God’s people are to pray for protection from ‘secret plots’:
2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows — bitter words,
4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear. (Psalms 64:2-4)
For years I have been writing that I believe that steps that the governments of the USA and UK have taken could help lead to the coming ‘famine of the word’ and/or directly cause it. Notice something I put in the article Who is the King of the North? back in 2011:
The Bible warns:
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. (Amos 8:12, KJV)
The above will apparently happen after Daniel 11:33 is fulfilled, but portions may begin as early as Daniel 11:28. With FCC “net neutrality” rules (they were approved to start to use in late 2010), we are getting close to that time when governments will be too offended by the truth and some will take steps to stop it from being proclaimed. Perhaps under the guise of “neutrality,” perhaps under the guise of “The Patriot Act,” perhaps under the guise of “public welfare” or national security, something will be done to stop perhaps all of the organized media efforts to proclaim biblical truths.
Furthermore, on August 11, 2011, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom stated that he wanted Scotland Yard to consider stopping suspected rioters from having the ability to utilize “social media” that involved the internet (see UK’s Cameron May Call Out the Troops and Restrict Social Media)–thus the idea of interference with the ability to proclaim the gospel that way may fulfill what the Bible and Herbert W. Armstrong understood, just prior to the start of the Great Tribulation.
The work may be stopped by government officials (like on the internet, television, etc.) and persecutions began because people of the holy covenant are warning the world of the results of their sins (which they will not want pointed out) and teaching that the King of the North is fulfilling these prophecies in Daniel 11. The faithful may be saying things that are not “politically correct” to the point that one or more governments will take action (especially if we are saying, and I expect to help do this, that a certain individual is the King of the North and that he will invade and destroy the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, etc.).
