Iran claims to have stopped a new cyber attack by the United States and Israel:

December 25, 2012

An Iranian semi-official news agency says there has been another cyberattack by the sophisticated computer worm Stuxnet, this time on the industries in the country’s south…

Akhavan says Iranian computer experts were able to “successfully stop” the worm.

Iran has repeatedly claimed defusing cyber worms and malware, including Stuxnet and Flame viruses that targeted the vital oil sector, which provides 80 percent of the country’s foreign revenue.

Tehran has said both worms are part of a secret U.S.-Israeli program that seeks to destabilize Iran’s nuclear program.  http://www.foxnews.com/world/2012/12/25/iran-media-report-new-cyberattack-by-stuxnet-worm/#ixzz2G4jWZrVX

Back in 2010, Iran’s nuclear-related computers were struck by a malicious computer software program (called STUXNET worm) in 2010.  It is widely believed that it was developed by Israel and/or the USA.

Iran will likely consider this latest attack as proof that the USA and/or Israel are, in a sense, already at war with it.  Iran, who some believe launched its own cyber attack against USA banks a few months ago (see Iran Believed to be Behind Cyber-Attacks Against US Banks), may decide to escalate tensions further.

This is especially true if it can get its ally, Syria’s President Assad, to cooperate with it.  Now, should this turn into a regional war, this will not turn out well for Iran (who is NOT the King of the South, hence prophecy and current world events suggest that it will be somehow neutralized for a time) nor Syria (which Bible prophecy warns will get its capital Damascus destroyed, per Isaiah 17:1).

The USA and/or Israel may find that the cost of a regional war involving Iran and/or Syria will be higher than many in the USA or Israel believe. Between terrorist acts, sustained resistance, chemical weapons, biological weapons, emp-type bombs, and/or even disruptions of the internet, Iran and/or Syria can inflict significant damage to their enemies. The possible cyber-attacks are just one more way Iran can cause consternation. Yet, the USA and the tiny of nation of Israel would not be “vanished” by Iran or Syria–it will come later, by the King of the North (cf. Daniel 11:39).
