Syria, North Korea, the USA, and Ronald Weinland

Damascus, Capital of Syria

COGwriter

The USA has apparently agreed to help arm the opposition to President Assad in Syria:

March 28, 2013

Mideast powers opposed to President Bashar Assad have dramatically stepped up weapons supplies to Syrian rebels in coordination with the U.S. in preparation for a push on the capital of Damascus, officials and Western military experts said Wednesday.A carefully prepared covert operation is arming rebels, involving Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar, with the United States and other Western governments consulting, and all parties hold veto power over where the shipments are directed, according to a senior Arab official whose government is participating. His account was corroborated by a diplomat and two military experts.

Saudi Arabia and other regional powers have been arming Syria’s rebels for months, but the scale and coordination with the West — and the suggestion by the AP’s sources that the effort is linked to a plan for the rebels to try and seize Damascus — represents a potentially significant escalation in the civil war.  (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-57576722/ap-master-plan-underway-to-help-syria-rebels-take-damascus-with-u.s.-approved-airlifts-of-heavy-weapons/)

The Arab League’s decision to recognize Syria’s anti-government coalition as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people has boosted the opposition’s international standing and opened the door to increasing an already substantial arms flow to rebel fighters, analysts say.  http://www.voanews.com/content/syria-russia-iran-slam-arab-summit-over-syria/1629597.html

Both biblical and Islamic prophecy tell of the destruction of at least parts of Syria, such as Damascus. Here is some of what Bible prophecies teaches:

7 thus says the Lord God: “It shall not stand, Nor shall it come to pass. 8 For the head of Syria is Damascus (Isaiah 7:7-8)

3 Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they have threshed Gilead with implements of iron. (Amos 1:3)

1 The burden against Damascus. “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap. (Isaiah 17:1)

23 Against Damascus. “Hamath and Arpad are shamed, For they have heard bad news. They are fainthearted; There is trouble on the sea; It cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus has grown feeble; She turns to flee, And fear has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in labor. 25 Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy? 26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts. 27 “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad.” (Jeremiah 49:23-27)

This destruction could come as the result of the current civil war. And if the Assad regime uses chemical weapons and/or becomes engaged in a conflict with Israel and/or the USA, that could also fulfill the above.  More trouble is coming to Damascus as it will be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1). An Islamic confederation that will include the land of Syria is coming (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:1-8; Psalm 83:4-8) is coming–and this is what many of the Arab nations want.  Do the opposition leaders in Syria or those in the West who are assisting in arming them understand that?

In a move to try to apparently try to dissuade North Korea from making good on its threats against South Korea as well as its threat to attack the USA will nuclear weapons, the USA put out a show of force:

28 March 2013

The US has flown two B-2 stealth bombers over South Korea as part of a military exercise.

The US said it demonstrated its forces could conduct “long-range, precision strikes quickly and at will”.

The move follows strong rhetoric from Pyongyang and comes a day after it cut a military hotline with the South…

North Korea has also made multiple threats against both the US and South Korea in recent weeks, including warning of a “pre-emptive nuclear strike” on the US and the scrapping of the Korean War armistice.

North Korea is not thought to have the technology to strike the US mainland with either a nuclear weapon or a ballistic missile, but it is capable of targeting some US military bases in Asia with its mid-range missiles.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-21963369

While North Korea could not win an all-out war with the USA, it, directly or indirectly, could impact the USA.  The public display of force by the USA could persuade North Korea to make a less public attack against the USA and perhaps convince it to do some type of terrorist or other attack.  Pride goes before a destructive fall (cf. Proverbs 16:18).

Although the end, meaning the start of the Great Tribulation and the final Day of the Lord, is not yet (cf. Matthew 24:6), some have other views.

Related to his version of the end time, imprisoned (for tax evasion) false prophet Ronald Weinland of the CGPFKG posted the following:

May 28, 2013…

Ever since the apostasy, the Church has been experiencing great tribulation, but it is nearly over and physical tribulation is about to begin in this final Day of the Eternal.

May 18, 2013

Once God’s Church entered this prophetic day, the year of the Eternal, on Pentecost of 2012, Pentecost of 2013 seemed so far away. Our hearts had been set on the return of Christ to occur on May 27, 2012, but that did not happen. Then God quickly and mercifully revealed that His Son would not return until the following Pentecost of May 19, 2013.

Ronald Weinland has been proven wrong before and will be proven wrong again (he is specifically claiming that all the physical destruction related to the end time Day of the Lord in the Bible must happen between now and the end of May 19, 2013).  He has claimed that the Great Tribulation began on December 14, 2008, and now claims that Jesus will return on May 19, 2013.  He also claimed that Jesus would return on May 27, 2012, and of course was wrong then.

And although we are seeing events align with biblical prophecy, including the formation of what will become the King of the South in the Arab world as well as unsettling events in other parts of the world, the end will not come this year.

You can absolutely count on that as certain biblically-required events still have not happened.  But the end will come as the Bible says, and events leading towards that are occurring.

Concerns About Ronald Weinland’s Church of God-Preparing for the Kingdom of God Ronald Weinland falsely claims to be one of the two witnesses God is raising up, that the Great Tribulation began on December 14, 2008, that Jesus would return on May 27, 2012, and then claimed that Jesus would return on May 19, 2013 (he originally had Jesus returning on September 28/29 2011). Why does the Bible show that Ron Weinland is a false prophet? Why do Ronald Weinland’s own statements prove that he is a false prophet? Additionally, he has other views which show he is not truly part of the Church of God.
How To Determine If Someone is a True Prophet of God There are many false prophets. How can Christians determine who is a true prophet? What does the New Testament actually teach on this subject?  There is also a YouTube video about this which is also titled How to determine if someone is a true prophet of God.
