Ted Cruz is emerging as a favorite amongst some Republicans to become the next USA president:

Texas Senator Ted Cruz seems to be gaining steam in the run up to the 2016 presidential election.

Senator Cruz won the presidential straw poll at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans with just over 30% of the vote. Fox News commentator Ben Carson took second.

Here is what Wikipedia reported on Ted Cruz’s political positions when I checked today:

Cruz is pro-life, with an exception only when a pregnancy endangers the mother’s life.^[79]^[80] Cruz opposes same-sex marriage, stating that he instead supports marriage “between one man and one woman,”^[81] but believes that the legality of same-sex marriage should be left to each state to decide.^[82]

Cruz is a gun-rights supporter.^[83] On March 25, 2013, an announcement was made by Cruz and U.S. Senators Rand Paul and Mike Lee threatening that they would filibuster any legislation that would entail gun control, such as the Manchin-Toomey Amendment, which would require additional background checks on sales at gun shows.^[84] On April 17, 2013, Cruz voted against the Manchin-Toomey Amendment.^[85] Republicans successfully filibustered the amendment by a vote of 54–46, as 60 votes were needed for cloture.^[86]

Cruz has raised concerns that the National Security Agency has not done effective surveillance of potential terrorists while intruding needlessly into the lives of ordinary Americans.^[87]

Since being elected, Cruz has spent a great deal of time speaking about what he characterizes as the misguided economic policies of the Obama Administration.^[88] Chiding the GOP over its 2012 electoral losses, he stated that “Republicans are and should be the party of the 47 percent” ^[89] and has also often noted that the words “growth and opportunity” ought to be tattooed on every Republican’s hand.^[90]

Regarding foreign policy, in 2004, he criticized Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry for being “against defending American values, against standing up to our enemies, and, in effect, for appeasing totalitarian despots.” ^[91]

In 2013, Cruz stated that America had no “dog in the fight” during the Syrian civil war and stated that America’s armed forces should not serve as “al-Qaeda‘s air force”.^[92]

The mainstream media has tended to dislike Ted Cruz more than many other Republicans. And while that will endear him with some voters, he will need more than them to get elected. But stranger things have happened in USA politics.

It should be noted that there are some similarities in various positions between Ted Cruz and Rand Paul. Neither of which appear to show the type of leadership that is needed to prevent the downfall of the USA. Both seem to have conceded the rise of the homosexual agenda and both seem to realize that abortion will remain the law of the land, though Ted Cruz is probably more anti-abortion than Rand Paul and might take some stronger anti-abortion steps presuming he could actually become USA president.

Republicans will not be able to fix the problems that the USA has.

The USA needs national repentance, otherwise it is doomed. The USA needs the return of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
