TW: Muslim Brotherhood Leader in Egypt Wants ‘United States of the Arabs’ and Then Jerusalem

In its latest TW News Prophecy E-Zine the Living Church of God has the following:

Muslim Brotherhood aims for Jerusalem.

Recently, a radical Muslim preacher told thousands of Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Egypt, “We can see how the dream of the Islamic caliphate is being realized, God willing, by Dr. Mohamed Mursi [the movement’s presidential candidate]… The capital of the caliphate–the capital of the United States of the Arabs–will be Jerusalem, God willing… Our capital shall not be in Cairo, Mecca or Medina… Yes, Jerusalem is our goal. We shall pray in Jerusalem, or die as martyrs on its threshold.”

Egypt is holding its presidential election at the time of this writing–an election many claim could “change the Middle East.”…this recent speech highlights the motive of many extreme Muslims–to gain control of Jerusalem.

Bible prophecy has long foretold that an end-time “king of the South” (likely involving or led by Egypt) will push for Jerusalem, only to be overrun by the European Beast power (Daniel 11:40-43). We appear to be witnessing the early signs of the formation of this “king of the South.” For more information on this sobering topic, review our booklet The Middle East in Prophecy.

Here is more related to this from a transcript of a video related to some of this:

Safwat Higazi: We can see how the dream of the Islamic Caliphate is being realized, Allah willing, by Dr. Muhammad Mursi and his brothers, his supporters, and his political party. We can see how the great dream, shared by us all – that of the United States of the Arabs… The United States of the Arabs will be restored, Allah willing. The United States of the Arabs will be restored by this man and his supporters.

The capital of the Caliphate – the capital of the United States of the Arabs – will be Jerusalem, Allah willing.

The Muslim Brotherhood candidate Dr. Mursi/Morsi himself seems to have gotten the most votes in Egypt’s preliminary ballot for the presidency:

Egypt Race Pits Aide to Mubarak Against Islamist

CAIRO — The runoff to become Egypt’s first freely elected president is shaping up as a contest between two of the most powerful and polarizing forces in Egyptian society: political Islam or the leadership of the past.

After a wild and fluid two-month campaign by more than a dozen candidates, Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood and Ahmed Shafik, a former air force general who served as President Hosni Mubarak’s final prime minister, emerged with the most votes on Friday, according to independent tallies and the official state news media.

Mr. Morsi won about a quarter of the vote and Mr. Shafik slightly less…

Dr. Morsi, also, seems to have, amongst other things, overseen the website of the Muslim Brotherhood. That website has the following:

What is the Muslim Brotherhood?…
“The Islamic nation,” its charter states, “must be fully prepared to fight the tyrants and the enemies of Allah as a prelude to establishing an Islamic state”—ideally a re-established caliphate, stretching from Spain across the Middle East and Central Asia to Indonesia, to be governed according to Islamic sharia law. (Understanding the Muslim Brotherhood. February 14, 2011. © The Muslim Brotherhood. http://www.ikhwanweb.com/article.php?id=28019 viewed 11/21/2011)

According to many Muslims, “Allah’s land” is supposedly all nations from Spain to Indonesia, yet it will not end up with Spain if I understand certain aspects of Bible prophecy correctly.  However, the confederation of the final King of the South, apparently like this so-called “United States of the Arabs,” may go from around Western Sahara and/or Mauritania to Oman (with possible coordination with Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and/or Indonesia).

And as far as Jerusalem goes, many in the Muslim Brotherhood want Jerusalem to be the capital of its caliphate. Those in the nation of Israel, of course, do not want that, but the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood is essentially to eliminate that nation. The anti-Israeli group Hamas is political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza.

The Bible warns that Jerusalem would be a focal point at the time of the end:

20 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. (Luke 21:20)

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. (Matthew 24:15-17)

There is also an interesting end-time prophecy related in Jerusalem that seems to be fulfilled regularly:

3 And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. (Zechariah 12:3)

The following suggests that Jerusalem will likely be divided:

2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. (Zechariah 14:2)

News items have come out indicating the EU, as well as the current UN Secretary-General (Ban Ki-moon) want to divide Jerusalem now–the captivity will come later to fulfill Zechariah 14:2 (see Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided?).

At first, this is what the Palestinians and others (like the Muslim Brotherhood) will accept–a divided Jerusalem–but that is not the end goal of the King of the South (though he, even if he gets Jerusalem without European control, will really only have it an incredibly short time).

One of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood may well become the King of the South that the Bible foretells (Daniel 11:40).

Many events are aligning with the COG understanding of prophecy. More will as well.

Watch (Mark 13:37).
