WTO reaches new world order trade agreement

On God’s day of rest from carnal business, a new world trade agreement has been reached, a first for the World Trade Organization:

.
The World Trade Organization reached its first ever trade reform deal on Saturday to the roar of approval from nearly 160 ministers who had gathered on the Indonesian island of Bali to decide on the make-or-break agreement that could add $1 trillion to the global economy…
.
“For the first time in our history, the WTO has truly delivered,” a tearful WTO chief Roberto Azevedo said.”This time the entire membership came together. We have put the ‘world’ back in World Trade Organization,” he said.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m proud to say for the first time in our history the WTO has truly delivered,” WTO Director General Roberto Azevedo said during the closing session of the Bali ministerial meeting. “This package is not an end. It’s a beginning. As a consequence of our progress here, we’ll now be able to move forward on the other areas of our work that have been stalled for so long.”

“With the Bali Package, you have reaffirmed not just your commitment to the WTO but also to the delivery of the Doha Development Agenda. The decisions we have taken here are important stepping stones towards the completion of the Doha Round, and it is very welcome that you have instructed us within the next 12 months a clearly defined work program to this end.”

Shortly after Azevedo’s comments, other trade leaders began to make their own celebratory sounds.

“We finally have a deal,” EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht said in a tweet.

“We have negotiated a package that will bring food security to billions of the world’s poorest,” Indonesian Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan said Saturday. “We have delivered an agreement on trade facilitation that will inject up to $1 trillion into the world economy. We have agreed a groundbreaking suite of initiatives to help least-developed countries benefit more from the multilateral trading system.

“We have agreed there is a need to change the World Trade Organization’s agreement on agriculture, which will take time. In the interim period, the decision we have taken here in Bali will allow developing countries to avoid disputes over their legitimate food security programs.”  http://www.politico.com/story/2013/12/wto-edges-closer-to-deal-on-bali-package-100783.html#ixzz2mlNEvutq

BALI, Indonesia (AP) — A deal to boost global trade has been approved by the World Trade Organization’s 159 member economies for the first time in nearly two decades, keeping alive the possibility that a broader agreement to create a level playing field for rich and poor countries can be reached in the future…

The idea behind the WTO is that if all countries play by the same trade rules, then all countries, rich or poor, will benefit.

But some critics say WTO rules may hinder countries from setting their own priorities in environmental protection, worker rights, food security and other areas. And they say sudden reductions in import tariffs can wipe out industries, causing job losses in rich and poor countries.

Oxfam welcomed the breathing space on food subsidies given to poor countries but said the agreement, and the move to simplify customs in particular, was “no game changer” overall.

“Its gains have been grossly overestimated, while the costs of implementation for poorer countries were completely ignored,” the aid and development group said in a statement.  http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2013/12/07/deal-to-boost-global-trade-reached-at-wto-summit/3901961/

If the promises of this deal come to pass, every person on the planet will be expected to gain nearly fifty US cents per day for every day (almost 1/2 of 1 USA dollar per day).  And while that may not seem to be much of an increase for Westerners, this would be a huge increase for many in many parts of Africa, Asia, the various islands, and elsewhere.  However, I will add that I do not believe that this agreement will truly “create a level playing field for rich and poor countries,” but hopefully poorer countries and the people in them will truly benefit.

Yet, Bible warns of a time when a European Beast power will control buying and selling:

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18)

The above suggests that the Europeans will have set a lot of the rules related to trade.  Biblically, world trade agreements are expected.  The Bible tells that many will become rich by the coming daughter of Babylon system, but that it will eventually end, and many will mourn:

11 “And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore: 12 merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble; 13 and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men. 14 The fruit that your soul longed for has gone from you, and all the things which are rich and splendid have gone from you, and you shall find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, 16 and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! 17 For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.’ Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance 18 and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like this great city?’

19 “They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! For in one hour she is made desolate.’  (Revelation 18:11-19)

Some of the trade agreements will result in loss of national sovereignty, even for the USA.  Some courts in the USA have indicated that they are willing to accept international standards, even if they seem to conflict with the Constitution of the USA (see US Justice Department allegedly claiming that international treaties surpass US Constitution).

In general, trade agreements benefit both parties involved. Yet as I warned about trade talks in the past, ultimately, some of the deals will not be good for the United States of America nor the British (nor their Anglo-allies like Canada, Australia, or New Zealand).

The fact that the WTO agreement came together on the Sabbath suggests that its prophetic ramifications will not be good.  Notice a few statements from the Bible:

13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth  (Isaiah 58:13-14)

8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.  (Exodus 20:8-11)

2 Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. (Exodus 35:2)

15 In those days I saw people in Judah treading wine presses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys with wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I warned them about the day on which they were selling provisions. 16 Men of Tyre dwelt there also, who brought in fish and all kinds of goods, and sold them on the Sabbath to the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.

17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, “What evil thing is this that you do, by which you profane the Sabbath day? 18 Did not your fathers do thus, and did not our God bring all this disaster on us and on this city? Yet you bring added wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”  (Nehemiah 13:15-18)

Notice that the above verses show that carnal work is not to be done on the Sabbath and that it can lead to disaster.  So, the timing of the WTO agreement–it first agreement ever–should be a concern to those who claim to believe the Bible.

Although most who profess Christ claim that the seventh-day Sabbath was either changed to Sunday or some how done away, that is not what the Bible teaches.  Notice the following from two Protestant and two Catholic translations of the Bible:

3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.'” And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. 4 For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “And on the seventh day God rested from all his work.” 5 And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.” 6 It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in, because of their disobedience…9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience (Hebrews 4:3-6,9-11, NIV).

3 We who have believed are soon to be admitted to the true rest; as He has said, “As I swore in My anger, they shall not be admitted to My rest,” although God’s works had been going on ever since the creation of the world. 4 For, as we know, when speaking of the seventh day He has used the words, “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works;” 5 and He has also declared, “They shall not be admitted to My rest.” 6 Since, then, it is still true that some will be admitted to that rest, and that because of disobedience those who formerly had Good News proclaimed to them were not admitted,… 9 It follows that there still remains a sabbath rest for the people of God. 10 For He who has been admitted to His rest, has rested from His works as God did from His. 11 Let it then be our earnest endeavour to be admitted to that rest, so that no one may perish through following the same example of unbelief. Weymouth (Hebrews 4:3-6, 9-11, Weymouth)

3 We, however, who have faith, are entering a place of rest, as in the text: And then in my anger I swore that they would never enter my place of rest. Now God’s work was all finished at the beginning of the world; 4 as one text says, referring to the seventh day: And God rested on the seventh day after all the work he had been doing. 5 And, again, the passage above says: They will never reach my place of rest. 6 It remains the case, then, that there would be some people who would reach it, and since those who first heard the good news were prevented from entering by their refusal to believe…9 There must still be, therefore, a seventh-day rest reserved for God’s people,  10 since to enter the place of rest is to rest after your work, as God did after his.  11 Let us, then, press forward to enter this place of rest, or some of you might copy this example of refusal to believe and be lost. (Hebrews 4:3-6,9-11, NJB)

3 For we, that have believed, shall enter into their rest; as he said: As I sware in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: and truly the works from the foundation of the world being perfected. 4 For he said in a certain place of the seventh day thus: And God rested the seventh day from all his works…9 Therefore there is left a sabbatisme for the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, the same also hath rested from his works, as God did from his.  11 Let us hasten therefore to enter into that rest; lest any man fall into the same example of incredulity. (Hebrews 4:3-6,9-11, The Original and True Rheims New Testament of Anno Domini 1582)

Thus, the New Testament clearly shows that the command to keep the seventh day Sabbath is in the New Testament. It also shows that only those who will not observe it because of their disobedience argue otherwise.

The seventh-day Sabbath rest is still existing for the people of God.  The people of the world, including most professors of Christ, will not heed what the word of God actually says.  The Bible also teaches that an “hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Revelation 3:10)–this period is commonly considered to be the great tribulation (Matthew 24:21).  The WTO agreement seems to be a step leading to it.
