Bishop Twal: Catholics accept all Christians; Queen Elizabeth apparently does understand the destructive significance of the gift given by Pope Francis.

Fouad Twal (Medialpj)

COGwriter

Fouad Twal, the Patriarch of Jerusalem of the Latins, was interviewed by the pro-Vatican news agency Zenit Notice one question and his answer:

ZENIT: Beginning, perhaps, with us Christians, how do you regard the Holy Father’s steps towards rapprochement with the Eastern Churches?

–Fouad Twal: One of our crosses here in the Holy Land is also the division of Christians. We have three great families, the Catholic, the Orthodox and the Reformers. We are thirteen Churches in total, each one with its own administration. Through our institutions, the Catholic Church has broken down these divisions, because we accept all Christians.

Before God and history, I feel responsible for the whole Christian community in the Holy Land, regardless of the rite. A rite can be richness, but it can never be a source of division. With the arrival of the Holy Father, who wishes to commemorate the meeting of 1964 (between Pope Paul VI and Patriarch Athenagoras, ndr), I hope that this ecumenical movement will take on new life and hope. http://www.zenit.org/en/articles/may-jerusalem-be-the-capital-of-the-world

The position of earlier pontiffs and bishops was that the Church of Rome did not accept all Christians, but only those who accepted the authority of the Roman pontiff.  Rome is more and more adopting an ecumenical stance.  A stance that many leaders in the Eastern Orthodox and Protestant churches like.

The Church of Rome has also made statements indicating that it is the Mother of the World’s Churches and that those groups that came out of her (like the Protestants and somewhat according to the Romans, the Orthodox ) are her daughters.

Inscription in the Basilica of St. John Lateran

Notice the above inscription, which I have personally seen on at least two trips to Rome on the outside of what, in certain respects, is the most important Cathedral for Rome. Below it is translated from the Latin:

Sacred Lateran Church Mother and Head of All Churches of the City and the World

That inscription is in Latin in the Basilica of St. John Lateran is the cathedral of the Bishop of Rome, that contains its papal throne (Cathedra Romana) and is the official ecclesiastical seat of the Pope (it ranks above all other churches in the Roman Catholic Church, even above St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican).

So it is clear that the Vatican claims to be the Mother of the World’s Churches. And the Bible teaches Babylon certainly is the Mother of the WORLD’s churches (Revelation 17:4-6). However, it is NOT the mother of the Church of God which preceded the formation of the Church of Rome (see The Churches of Revelation 2 & 3 and Location of the Early Church: Another Look at Ephesus, Smyrna, and Rome) and did not come from the Church of Rome.  Historically, the Church of Rome has tended to consider those in groups like the Continuing Church of God as apostates, and will do so in the future.  It is those of the Greco-Roman persuasion that the current ecumenical movement considers to be ‘Christian,’ but the ecumenical movement errs in that as well (to learn more about the history of true Christianity, check out the free booklet (The Continuing History of the Church of God).

Those who accept Rome as their ‘mother church’ do so to their peril.

Speaking of peril, Britain’s Queen Elizabeth met with Pope Francis a couple of weeks ago.  The visit seemingly had a somewhat of an ecumenical theme.  I was not planning on covering that meeting here as it occurred when I was in Kenya when I did not have sufficient internet access, but changed my mind today when I learned that gift she was given.  Notice the following report:

2014-04-03 Vatican Radio (Vatican Radio) A focus on the shared roots of Christian faith was a theme which emerged from the meeting Pope Francis had with Britain’s Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip on Thursday afternoon. Also attending the private encounter in a small study beside the Paul VI hall was Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, former archbishop of Westminster and the first Catholic bishop to preach for the Royal Family since the Church of England broke from Rome in the 16th century…

Pope Francis also had a rather personal gift for the Queen – or rather for her newest great-grandson and third in line for the throne, the eight-month-old Prince George. It was a blue, lapis lazuli orb, topped with a cross of St Edward the Confessor and around the base a dedication reading ‘Pope Francis to His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge’. The Queen seemed visibly delighted, exclaiming, “that’s very nice, he’ll be thrilled with that…when he’s a little older.”The Pope also presented the Queen with a replica of a decree from the Vatican archives, dating from 1679, by which Pope Innocent XI extended the veneration of St Edward the Confessor to the Universal Church, establishing his feast day on October 9th. http://www.news.va/en/news/pope-francis-and-queen-elizabeth-ii-shared-christi

Why report about the gift?

Perhaps Queen Elizabeth is unaware of what Edward the Confessor taught. Yet the Catholic saint Edward had some negative things to say about the Anglo-Saxon peoples.

Here are some quotes from two 20th century Catholic books on prophecy:

Saint Edward (d. 1066). “The extreme corruption and wickedness of the English nation has provoked the just anger of God. When malice has reached the fullness of its measure, God will, in His wrath, send to the English people evil spirits who will punish and afflict them with severity by separating the green tree from its parent stem the length of three furlongs. But at last this same tree, through the compassionate mercy of God and without any national assistance, shall return to its original root, reflourish, and bear abundant fruit.”… It is to be noted, too, that there was no English nation as such in the 11th Century, but only a kingdom of the Angles and Saxons. This discrepancy, however, may be due to a mis-transcription {the preceding was the comment from Dupont personally on the Edward’s prophecy}, Dupont, Yves. Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), 1973, pp.18,19)

Saint Edward (d. 1066) “The extreme corruption and wickedness of the English nation has provoked the just anger of God.  When malice shall have reached the fullness of its measure, God will, in His wrath, send to the English people wicked spirits, who will punish and afflict them with great severity…” (Culleton, R. Gerald.  The Prophets and Our Times. Nihil Obstat: L. Arvin.  Imprimatur: Philip G. Scher, Bishop of Monterey-Fresno, November 15, 1941.  Reprint 1974, TAN Books, Rockford (IL), p. 137).

Notice the prophecy as shown and commented upon by The Catholic Encyclopedia:

Prophecy of St. Edward the Confessor

Ambrose Lisle Philipps in a letter to the Earl of Shrewsbury dated 28 October, 1850, in giving a sketch of English Catholic history, relates the following vision or prophecy made by St. Edward:

“During the month of January, 1066, the holy King of England St. Edward the Confessor was confined to his bed by his last illness in his royal Westminster Palace. St. Aelred, Abbott of Rievaulx, in Yorkshire, relates that a short time before his happy death, this holy king was wrapt in ecstasy, when two pious Benedictine monks of Normandy, whom he had known in his youth, during his exile in that country, appeared to him, and revealed to him what was to happen to England in future centuries, and the cause of the terrible punishment. They said: ‘The extreme corruption and wickedness of the English nation has provoked the just anger of God. When malice shall have reached the fullness of its measure, God will, in His wrath, send to the English people wicked spirits, who will punish and afflict them with great severity, by separating the green tree from its parent stem the length of three furlongs. But at last this same tree, through the compassionate mercy of God, and without any national (governmental) assistance, shall return to its original root, reflourish and bear abundant fruit.’ After having heard these prophetic words, the saintly King Edward opened his eyes, returned to his senses, and the vision vanished. He immediately related all he had seen and heard to his virgin spouse, Edgitha, to Stigand, Archbishop of Canterbury, and to Harold, his successor to the throne, who were in his chamber praying around his bed.” (See “Vita beati Edwardi regis et confessoris“, from manuscript Selden 55 in Bodleian Library, Oxford.)

The interpretation given to this prophecy is remarkable when applied to the events which have happened. The spirits mentioned in it were the Protestant innovators who pretended, in the sixteenth century, to reform the Catholic Church in England. The severance of the green tree from its trunk signifies the separation of the English Church from the root of the Catholic Church, from the Roman See. This tree, however, was to be separated from its life-giving root the distance of “three furlongs”. These three furlongs are understood to signify three centuries, at the end of which England would again be reunited to the Catholic Church, and bring forth flowers of virtue and fruits of sanctity. The prophecy was quoted by Ambrose Lisle Philipps on the occasion of the reestablishment of the Catholic hierarchy in England by Pope Pius IX in 1850 (Devine, Arthur. Transcribed by Marie Jutras. Prophecy. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume XII. Published 1911. New York: Robert Appleton Company. Nihil Obstat, June 1, 1911. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York).

Of course, the interpretation that three furlongs meant that England would become Roman Catholic in three centuries was in error (so yet another Catholic “saint” had a false prophecy), but notice that the Roman Catholics believe that England was prophesied to separate from the Roman Catholic Church, that it will be severely punished, and that it will again become Roman Catholic (AFTER it is punished).  Notice also the following:

D.A. Birch (Catholic writer commenting on the above “prophecy”) stated , “It is interesting to note that the National (Government) of England is foretold to have no role in the return of England to Roman allegiance. As a matter of fact, a number of prophecies specifically state that England will be reevangelized by the French and Irish after England has suffered a terrible and specific chastisement” (Birch, pp. 308-309).

I should probably add that the “National Government” will probably have no role, because England itself will have been taken over (see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel) by the European Beast power. And that is consistent with many of the private Catholic prophecies in this section (as well as the Bible teachings, see Anglo – America in Prophecy for details).  Catholic prophecy tells of a time when the Anglo-Saxon peoples will be taken over and those that are left will be forced to convert.  While some may wish to discount what Edward claimed, notice the following Catholic prophecies from others:

Saint Cataldus of Tarentino (c. 500): “The Great Monarch will be in war till he is forty years of age….he will assemble great armies and expel tyrants from his empire. He will conquer England and other island empires” (Connor, p.30).

Foretelling the fall of France and England, the famous Jesuit Father Necton, said in 1772, “When England shall wane in power, the destruction of Paris will be near at hand” (Culligan E. The Last World War and the End of Time. The book was blessed by Pope Paul VI, 1966. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), p. 84).

Mother Shipton (d. 1551) “The time will come when England shall tremble and quake…London shall be destroyed forever after . . . and then York shall be London and the Kingdom governed by three Lords appointed by a Royal Great monarch…who will set England right and drive out heresy (Culleton, p. 163).

It has been foretold in 597, by ST. Columbkille…”…English nobility shall sink into horrible life–wars shall be proclaimed against them, by means of which the franatically proud race shall be subdued, and will be harassed from every quarter. The English shall dwindle into disreputable people and shall forever be derived of power” (Culligan, pp. 118-119).

St. Columbine (d. 597): The enemies of the English shall be aroused in battle–they who reside in the eastern and western parts of the world…the English shall be defeated…After the English shall be defeated in this battle, they shall be harassed by every quarter; like a fawn surrounded by a pack of voracious hounds, shall be the position of the English amidst their enemies. The English afterwards shall dwindle down to a disreputable people (Culleton, R. Gerald.  The Prophets and Our Times. Nihil Obstat: L. Arvin.  Imprimatur: Philip G. Scher, Bishop of Monterey-Fresno, November 15, 1941.  Reprint 1974, TAN Books, Rockford (IL), pp. 131,132).

St. Senanus (d. 560): They (English) themselves will betray each other: in consequence their sovereignty will be broken…One monarch will rule in Ireland over the English (Culleton, p. 128).

Merlin (7th century): After destruction of England…shall come a dreadful man…he shall set England on the right way and put out all heresies (Culleton, p. 132).

Note: Many of the older Roman Catholic prophecies that mention the English were written before that area actually was called England (and of course, if any apply to the USA, Canada, Australia, and/or New Zealand, they were not formed as we now understand them until several centuries after some of the Roman Catholic prophecies were first written). Hence, these are errors, changes, and/or distortions in translations (probably often just a “modernized” translation of some form of the word “Anglo”). Many of these private prophecies are believed to be intended to somehow refer to the British-descended peoples.

The Bible itself foretells the destruction of the Anglo-Saxon nations, including the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand will not exist too much longer, nor will their ally the USA.  The Pope’s gift is in honor of a Catholic leader who foretells of the destruction of the Anglo-Saxon peoples.  Yet, Queen Elizabeth appeared quite pleased with the gift.  My guess is that she did not understand all of its potential ramifications.

Of course, we do not rely on Catholic prophecies.  But since the Bible clearly warns against the coming end-time the Babylonian system (Revelation 17:4-6; 18:2-5; Zechariah 2:7) and the destruction of the USA and its Anglo-Saxon allies (Daniel 11:39; Jeremiah 30:7, etc.), when steps taken by pontiffs and other leaders are consistent with that, we try to warn people what is happening.  Notice two warnings directly from the Bible:

7 “Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.” (Zechariah 2:7)

2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. (Revelation 18:2-5)

That is the system that the ecumenical movement trying to prop up.  The only ‘ecumenical’ unity that the Bible foretells in a positive manner comes AFTER the destruction of the Babylonian system that the Pope and his supporting bishops and other leaders are now attempting to implement (Zechariah 2:10-11).

It should also be noted that biblical and certain Catholic/Orthodox private prophecies warn against this coming unity as well (see Why Should American Catholics Fear Unity with the Orthodox?)–this ecumenical movement will not turn out well for the Roman, Orthodox, nor Anglican Catholics.

Be very wary–do not participate in the Roman type of unity yourself.
