Pope Francis confused about the ‘Devil’s ecumenical work

Pope Francis said the devil opposed Greco-Roman attempts at ‘Christian’ unity:

Divisions among Christians “hurt the Church and they wound Christ,” Pope Francis said to tens of thousands of visitors gathered in Saint Peter’s Square Wednesday morning.

During her journey through history, “the Church is tempted by the devil who tries to divide it,” the Pope said, and unfortunately, “she has been marred by serious and painful divisions.”

Francis devoted his “general audience” to the issue of the unity of Christians, urging his listeners to take an active part in healing the wounds that still separate them.

We must not forget, he said that “there are many brothers and sisters who share our faith in Christ, but who belong to other denominations or traditions different from our own.” He challenged his hearers not to accept these painful divisions, which in the course of history have “often been a cause of conflict and suffering, even wars.”

“Are we resigned, or even indifferent to this division? Or do we firmly believe that we can and must walk in the direction of reconciliation and full communion?” he asked.

“Our preaching and our testimony will be all the more credible if we are able to live in communion and love each other. That’s what his apostles understood,” he said.

No matter the specific historical causes of these conflicts, “what is certain is that, in one way or another, behind all these divisions there is always pride and selfishness,” he added. These flaws “make us intolerant, unable to listen and accept those who have a vision or a position different from ours.”

As usual, Francis did not leave the issue on a theoretical plane, but offered practical advice, as well. He encouraged his hearers to pray for the unity of Christians and to just begin walking together in what he called “spiritual ecumenism.”

In every community, there are good theologians, the Pope said, so let them debate the issues “while we walk together, praying for each other and carrying out works of charity.”

“This is called ‘spiritual ecumenism,’” he went on, “walking the path of life together in our faith in Jesus Christ the Lord.”

“The Lord asks us not to fix our gaze on what divides us, but rather on what unites us,” said Francis, “and this means adherence to the truth, along with the ability to forgive, and to feel part of the same Christian family.”

“There are divisions,” he declared. “There are divided Christians. We are divided among ourselves. But we all have something in common: we all believe in Jesus Christ, the Lord. We all believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and we all walk together. We are on a journey.”

The Pope concluded hopefully, “Let us go forward towards full unity! History has separated us, be we are on the way to reconciliation and communion! And this is true! And this we must defend! We are all on a journey towards communion.”  http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2014/10/08/Pope-Francis-The-Devil-Works-to-Divide-Christians

A few years ago, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople made statements against those opposing Greco-Roman unity:

Patriarch of Constantinople’s new encyclical defends Catholic-Orthodox dialogue

Istanbul, Turkey, Feb 20, 2010 / 06:14 pm (CNA).- Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople’s newest encyclical encourages dialogue between the Orthodox Church and other Christian churches and laments those who are “unacceptably fanatical” in challenging such dialogue…“They disseminate false rumors that union between the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches is imminent, while they know well that the differences discussed in these theological dialogues remain numerous and require lengthy debate; moreover, union is not decided by theological commissions but by Church Synods,” Bartholomew wrote. (Patriarch of Constantinople’s new encyclical defends Catholic-Orthodox dialogue. COGwriter has been one of the few non-Roman, non-Orthodox sites to warn against the coming unity for years.

Now I actually agree with the Orthodox Patriarch that the Orthodox will likely need to have a church synod for unity.  But what he did not mention is that Orthodox prophets have expected such a meeting to take place and result it unity. According to an Eastern Orthodox, Byzantine, prophet the final (the Orthodox recognize seven previous ones) ecumenical synod council satisfies what “heretics” want:

Saint Neilos the Myrrh-Gusher (died 1592): During that time the Eighth and last Ecumenical Synod will take place, which will satisfy the contentions of the heretics…(Tzima Otto, p. 111).

By satisfying “heretics”, clearly this council compromises and changes the religion, which will be called “Catholic.”  If heretics are truly heretics, should their complaints be satisfied?

It was announced that the Eastern Orthodox have called for such an Ecumenical Council in 2016 (Afanasieva D, Heneghan T. Orthodox Patriarchs urge peace in Ukraine, agree on council! (Ecumenical News, March 10, 2014. http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/orthodox-patriarchs-urge-peace-in-ukraine-agree-on-council-22801; see Orthodox agree to eighth ecumenical council: If Orthodox prophecy is correct on it, this council marks a major step towards the end!). We are getting closer to the time of the end.

Now there are other possible meetings/synods that could accomplish this goal of unity. Pope Francis and Patriarch Bartholomew, for example, have called for a meeting in Nicea in 2025 to commemorate the 1700 year anniversary of Emperor Constantine’s first Council of Nicea in 325 which helped change/define some of the doctrines and practices of the Roman and Orthodox Catholics in the fourth century (other councils did as well). Some details about the 325 and 2025 meetings are in the news post titled Ecumenical meeting in Nicea planned for 2025: What happened in 325 and what could happen in/by 2025?and/or watch the video 3rd Council of Nicea in 2025?

Getting back to Pope Francis, the ‘communion’ that he Francis advocates was considered to be demonic according to the Apostle Paul:

20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?  (1 Corinthians 10:20-22)

What the Greco-Roman churches teach and advocate differs from original Christianity.  For proof related to ‘communion’ see
Marcus, the Marcosians, & Mithraism: Developers of the Eucharist?

As far as the work of the Devil, the Devil wants the type of unity that Pope Francis is endorsing (Revelation 13,17,18).

However the Bible warns against it.

The true unity of the faith will NOT come until after the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His kingdom.

Jesus did NOT come to bring worldwide unity in this age:

51 Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. (Luke 12:51)

The Bible shows that a false ecumenical unity will come (Revelation 13:4-8).

Notice also:

6 “Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord; “for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord. 7 “Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.” (Zechariah 2:6-7)

Notice that even true believers are warned to get away from this.

While the true Christian faith will continue (Matthew 16:18), Protestantism as most understand it is doomed. Please, if you are Protestant, Catholic, or Eastern Orthodox and wish to believe what the Bible actually teaches, turn to God, and resist the coming, more powerful, ecumenical appeals which will deceive all but the very elect (Matthew 24:24).

Notice also the following:

10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord. 11 “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. 12 And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!” (Zechariah 2:10-13)

It is after Babylon falls and Jesus returns that true Christian unity will occur (Zechariah 2:10-11). Do not be deceived by the Babylonian ecumenical movement. The Bible warns that nearly all on the earth in the final end times will be deceived (2 Thessalonian 2:9-12). Have the ‘love of the truth’ so that you will not fall for this.
