WND continues to promote Mark Biltz’ blood moon nonsense

World News Daily (WND) continues to put out ‘news’ from Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries about blood moons.  Last night I noticed it posted the following:

Blood moons: Adding up the evidence

Pastor Mark Biltz on last of eclipse series on biblical festival days

Pastor Mark Biltz, discoverer of the blood moons phenomenon and the author of “Blood Moons: Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs,” says Christians are being given signs from the heavens.

In Biltz’s opinion, the current sequence of four blood moons — a tetrad — “is a sign for today’s Christians as judgment always begins in the house of God.”

“I believe the current blood moons also signal the end of an era,” he said.

And Biltz notes there’s something else unique about this tetrad: it’s convergence with biblical holy days.

The April 15 event in 2014, for example, happened during Passover. On Oct. 8, 2014, the blood moon occurred during the Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot. Another of the blood moon’s occurred during Passover on April 4, 2015. The last will happen on Sept. 28, 2015, another Feast of the Tabernacles.

The following chapter excerpted from Biltz’s “Blood Moons” details the stunning science behind the signs.

“Blood Moons” chapter 6: The Science of the Signs
By Mark Biltz

The Jewish calendar is more complicated than our Gregorian calendar, but God has a reason for everything He does. …

From Joel 2:31, we understand that the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. This is an exciting correlation between the signs in the heavens that God said He would use and His calendar that He created for us to use as His decoder! This way we know it is not a random occurrence but a godly appointment!
The total solar eclipse—March 20, 2015—is on Nisan 1; the very beginning of the religious year and the very day the fire fell from heaven and lit the altar at the dedication of Moses’ tabernacle! Following that, there will be a partial solar eclipse on September 13, 2015, which is on Rosh Hashanah. After that, just two weeks later, there will be a total lunar eclipse on Sukkot! This just rocks!
This is what is going to happen on the Feast of Tabernacles in 2015. Can you imagine what it will be like for the Jewish people in Israel sitting in their sukkahs on the first night of the Feast of Tabernacles and there is this super blood moon overhead? Don’t you think God is trying to speak to us? This is equivalent to a prophetic grand slam homerun. The heavens are shouting, “Hello! Is anybody paying attention?”

Much of the above is nonsense. While Mark Biltz did publicize the 2014 & 2015 blood moons and can chose to believe what he wants, he has placed significance on matters that do not have the type of significance he and others claim about them. While there have been 3 blood moons from April 15, 2014 to present, and a fourth one is expected on September 28, 2015, these four blood moons are not a biblical sign. They are NOT signs that Jesus listed in Matthew 24, Mark 13, or Luke 21 when Jesus told His disciples what to look out for.

As far as blood moons being a sign that judgement is on God’s people, that part of the Bible says NOTHING about moons, blood ones, or otherwise. Peter does not use any term for ‘moon’ in either of his epistles. Here is what Peter wrote that Mark Biltz is misapplying:

17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now

“If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?” (1 Peter 4:17-18)

The above says that the time NOW has come. That means during the church age, which began at Pentecost in Acts 2. This verse DOES NOT say that judgment for the church begins when there are four blood moons over a two-year period. It is disappointing that World News Daily keeps publishing this nonsense without pointing out why it is wrong.

Blood moons are not equivalent to a prophetic grand slam homerun as Mark Biltz has claimed.  While the Bible shows that God uses weather (see Does God Use Weather?), there is simply no indication in the Bible that normal, natural eclipses, are part of the prophetic message.

Furthermore, Mark Biltz has claimed that Jesus would come to ‘rapture’ the church either before or shortly after a red moon:

Around 2008, Biltz began predicting that the Second Coming of Jesus would occur in the fall of 2015 with the seven years of the great tribulation beginning in the fall of 2008. He said he had “discovered” an astronomical pattern that predicted the next tetrad would coincide with the end times. When the prediction failed, he pulled the article from his website, but continued to teach on the “significance” of the tetrad. (Bloom Moon Prophecy. Wikipedia, accessed 08/23/15)

A minister who promotes the Old Testament roots of Christianity suggests a rare string of lunar and solar eclipses said to fall on God’s annual holy days seven years from now could herald what’s come to be known as the “Second Coming” of Jesus.

“God wants us to look at the biblical calendar,” says Mark Biltz, pastor of El Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake, Wash. “The reason we need to be watching is [because] He will signal His appearance. But we have to know what to be watching as well. So we need to be watching the biblical holidays.”

In a video interview on the Prophecy in the News website, Biltz said he’s been studying prophecies that focus on the sun and moon, even going back to the book of Genesis where it states the lights in the sky would be “be for signs, and for seasons.”

“It means a signal, kind of like ‘one if by land, two if by sea.’ It’s like God wants to signal us,” he said. “The Hebrew word implies … not only is it a signal, but it’s a signal for coming. (Blood moon eclipses: 2nd Coming in 2015? Minister uses NASA forecasting to study signals of Jesus’ return (WorldNetDaily – April 30, 2008. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=63076).

There will be NO pre-tribulation rapture this month.  Jesus is NOT coming in September 2015.

And while it is true that Jesus will return after the blood moon that the Bible refers to in Joel 2 and Revelation 6, the return of Jesus Christ is not until after the Great Tribulation. Notice the account from the Matthew’s Gospel:

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you…

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be…

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matthew 24:3,4,15-21,29-31)

Many have been deceived in the past and others are deceived now. Jesus will return with the sound of a great trumpet and Christians will be gathered with Him (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). And although this should be comforting to Christians, Jesus will not be returning in 2015. Any who believe Jesus will return in 2015 are bound to be disappointed as that will not happen.

The Continuing Church of God, which is not Protestant, has gone on record and repeatedly stated that Jesus cannot possibly come on one of the blood moons in 2014 or 2015 (e.g., in 2013 see post Do red ‘blood moons’ predict Jesus’ return in 2014 or 2015?). Even further back on May 1, 2008, I posted:

Jesus would not return with a red moon (Red Moon? Might the Great Tribulation Begin in 2013?)

I remain of the view that the blood moons are not significant the way many promoters of them have claimed.

The Messianic Jew Jonathan Cahn, to cite another, has claimed that the September 28, 2015 blood moon signals ‘global collapse’ (see Blood Moons and Prophecy). While there likely will be more items of prophetic interest this month (e.g. check out UN’s ‘New Universal Agenda” is a False Gospel!) and perhaps financial setbacks, that will not be the end (see also The ‘Harbinger’ and September 2015).  Messianic Jews have a variety of doctrinal and prophetic misunderstandings (see also Messianic Judaism Beliefs Differ from the Continuing Church of God).

Those who believe otherwise are misled. Jesus will, however, return some day. Those of us who believe the “more sure word of prophecy” (2 Peter 1:19, KJV) realize this. But some who are looking at some Protestant teachings and traditions are overlooking various facts and what the Bible really teaches (see also Dangerous Protestant Prophetic Errors).

And it is not just Protestants.  Last year, I was mentioning to a former WCG member who is now an ‘independent’ that the 2014 and 2015 blood moons were not biblically significant.  Well, he had recently seen the April 15, 2014 blood moon and was convinced that God was using the blood moons of 2014 and 2015 prophetically.  But he, and others like him, was wrong.  Those outside of the Continuing Church of God, despite their Church of God ties and beliefs, will be subject to the Great Tribulation as all I am aware of hold to prophetic positions that are in contrast to the Bible (a documented list of many COG prophetic errors of prophetic understanding are in the article The Laodicean Church Era).

It remains my view that false predictions, by Protestants and others, will be factors that turn people off on prophecy (cf. 2 Peter 2:1-2). But the Bible is still true, despite wrong misunderstandings about it and blood moons.

The Philadelphia Church Era was predominant circa 1933 A.D. to 1986 A.D. The old Radio Church of God and old Worldwide Church of God, now the remnant of that era is basically the most faithful in the Church of God, like who hold to the beliefs and practices of the Continuing Church of God.
The Laodicean Church Era has been predominant circa 1986 A.D. to present. The Laodiceans are non-Philadelphians who mainly descended from the old WCG or its offshoots.  They do not properly understand the work or biblical prophecies and will face the Great Tribulation if they do not repent.
