Karl zu Guttenberg on Germany’s change of relationship with Russia; Ukraine a wake-up call.

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg wrote the following about how Russia’s latest moves have changed its relationship with Germany:

April 17, 2014
When Angela Merkel told US President Barack Obama last month that Russian President Vladimir Putin was living “in another world”, it was a signal of how far the German Chancellor’s perception of Russia’s leader had come.

In this case, if it were a congress to “security of the global trade and logistics flows”, to which the former Federal Economic and later defense minister give a speech…

Berlin’s policy towards Russia reflects a tug of war between two schools of thinking — one that insists that Germany should uphold the values of democracy and freedom in its dealings with foreign powers; and another that is impatient with such concerns when they conflict with Germany’s economic interests…Two months after the war in Georgia, Merkel attended the signing of a multibillion-euro deal between Russian energy giant Gazprom and Eon, the German utility company…

Russia’s annexation of Crimea has killed what German politicians often refer to as the “spirit of friendship and partnership” between the two countries. Merkel now aims for a pro-European policy on Russia that is principled yet realistic…

She can see beyond the geopolitical chessboard to the plight of the subjugated and the Orwellian tribulations they must endure. That is why Merkel seems to have lost patience with Putin’s talk of spontaneously organised self-defence units and hyped-up enemies…

Nonetheless, in leading Germany off the path of calculated bigotry, the chancellor has achieved something important. Perhaps if Europe’s largest country had not for so many years pursued a wishy-washy foreign policy, Russian revanchism would not have come so far as to provoke the present crisis. And if other countries follow Merkel’s lead, the Kremlin may have to rethink a strategy that relies on repeatedly exploiting the west’s paralysis.  http://gulfnews.com/opinions/columnists/merkel-s-mettle-will-sap-putin-s-strength-1.1320940

Baron Guttenberg was once the Defense Minister for Germany until he was embarrassed by a plagiarism scandal in 2011, then voluntarily resigned (Angela Merkel had said that he did not have to leave or resign) and went on a self-imposed exile to the USA. Some are still unwilling to be near him because of his plagiarism scandal (he lost his Ph.D. after some concluded that he copied major portions of someone else’s writings without crediting the original source).

He has in the past indicated that Europe needs a strong leader. I have suggested that the time may well come that he could be that leader.  Notice how he is opposed to what he calls the ‘wishy-washy’ foreign policy of his own nation and the west’s ‘paralysis.’  He wants stronger action.  But, he also seemingly wants to have economic ties with Russia (as other parts of his article indicate).  Basically, he wants Europe strong enough to stand on its own, and be able to deal with Russia on its own terms.

As I have been warning for some time, the crisis in Ukraine is serving as a wake-up call to Europe.  Here is another news item which confirms what I have been saying about that:

Military chiefs have said the Ukraine crisis is a “wake-up call” for EU countries’ defence spending, as the US backed Ukraine’s use of force in eastern regions…

Maciej Popowski, said: “We’ve had 70 years of peace now [in Europe], but we see that power politics is back with a vengeance, so it’s a wake-up call and now we need to get serious about defence.”

He noted that “this was the feeling around the table” at the Luxembourg event.

He added that EU foreign relations chief Catherine Ashton told the ministers: “If Ukraine is not a trigger to get serious about spending, about pooling and sharing, about smart defence, then what more do we need to get real?”  http://euobserver.com/defence/123868

More Europeans are starting to see that they want to have more military power.

The Bible warns of a strong leader, like Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg advocates, who will rise up who will have had problems (Daniel 11:21). This leader will be from an area north of Jerusalem (like Europe; see also (see also Jerusalem: Past, Present, and Future). He will apparently be charismatic (cf. Daniel 7:20,11:21-24,31; Revelation 13:3-5) and lead a confederation that does not stick well together (Daniel 2:42-43), like many of the nations of the European Union. The Bible talks about a beast of the sea that had a deadly wound to one of its heads that was healed:

3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. (Revelation 13:3)

While the above likely has multiple interpretations, such as with the old ‘Holy Roman Empire,’ could this not also refer to a leader whose political career was believed to have been destroyed, who later returns? If so, someone like Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg could fit that role. The fact that the German press has used a term translated to mean the Baron Guttenberg “dares” a comeback, indicates that they seem to think the plagiarism wound to Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg’s political career was perhaps fatal. And while I do not believe that today’s appearance by Baron Guttenberg will totally heal that wound (and he still may have other problems), it looks like Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg still has political ambitions, which is consistent with statements he has made suggesting that he wants to play a more international role.

Currently, Baron Guttenberg is involved in certain policy positions in various groups, including one that is part of the European Union. He has also partially-fulfilled at least seven speculative predictions I posted about him (see Might German Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg become the King of the North?).

Notice the verse that comes after Revelation 13:3:

4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him? (Revelation 13:4)

Notice that this beast has military ability. Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg was formerly the Defense Minister for Germany. Hence he has military interest and at least some military background.

While many do not think that much will happen with Europe’s military, the recent events in Ukraine, Russian military matters, and the relative decline of the US military are all motivating various ones in Europe in general and Germany in particular to want to step up the military presence in Europe.

One more thing needs considering.  Will GERMANY PLAY ALONG WITH RUSSIA to some degree until she can subdue the West? The answer is “yes.”’ In at least six or seven separate instances within the last two hundred and fifty years, in which Germany has turned on the West, she has first made a pact with Russia to make herself safe from the East.  Now will be no different, though it may be less blatant.

Partially because of what he writes about, partially because of his ancestry, partially because of his religious views, partially because of his former position as Defense Minister, and partially because of his demonstrated political ambitions, Karl Guttenberg is one to watch.

Russia wants a Eurasian Union and Germany wants to lead all of Europe–the Bible supports that both of those will happen.  The Ukrainian situation is feeding into this.
