Egypt’s President Sisi again calls for ‘King of the South’ military

At a summit meeting of leaders of Arabic nations, Egypt’s President Sisi is calling for a military force consistent with biblical prophecy:

March 28, 2015

A joint military force should be created to defend Arab nations, Egypt’s president said Saturday.

President Abdel Fattah Sisi made his comments at a summit of Arab leaders in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, where the escalating conflict in Yemen was top of the agenda.

He said the Arab world was at a critical crossroads and facing unprecedented challenges.

“The challenges are grave,” he told the Arab leaders. “It is a huge responsibility, heavy and burdensome.”

His comments came as Saudi-led airstrikes were launched against Shiite rebels in Yemen, known as Houthis.

The coalition supporting the strikes says the takeover of Yemen is supported by Iran, which wants to exert its influence in the region.

Sisi said military action in Yemen was “inevitable.”

“We reject any intervention in our own affairs,” he said, but did not directly mention Iran.  http://www.latimes.com/world/middleeast/la-fg-egypt-president-backs-joint-arab-military-force-20150328-story.html

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi urged Arab leaders at a summit on Saturday to back the creation of a joint military force, saying the region faced “unprecedented” threats.

“There is an unprecedented threat to Arab identity… a threat that if it spreads will break this (Arab) nation,” Sisi told the summit in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh which is expected to approve the proposed joint force. https://en-maktoob.news.yahoo.com/russia-join-china-led-development-bank-100253508–sector.html

Egypt’s president has renewed calls for the creation of a joint Arab military force as it and other countries launch airstrikes against Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi made the comment Saturday while addressing a summit of Arab leaders in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Saying that the crises in the Middle East and North Africa region have reached an unprecedented danger, Sisi said he “backs calls for a unified Arab force” to confront regional security threats.

Sisi added that there is an urgent need to filter the religious rhetoric of extremism,  emphasizing the need to support the elected, legitimate Libyan government.

The president also reiterated that Egypt’s participation in the Saudi-led coalition was ‘imperative,’ after meddling there by a foreign power – a thinly veiled reference to Iran, adding that it aims to preserve Yemen’s unity. http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2015/03/28/Yemeni-president-arrived-in-Egypt-for-Arab-League-summit-.html

The Ministerial Council of the Arab League announced backing the military actions of the coalition led by the Gulf Cooperation Council and a number of Arab and international countries under Article 51 of the UN charter to protect the sovereignty and unity of Yemen.’

The council expressed hope that such military measures would bring back security and stability to Yemen and would stand up against Houthi forces. …

The AL secretary-general, meanwhile, said the draft resolution is based on the 1950 Treaty of Joint Defense and Economic Cooperation of the Arab League and Article 51 of the UN charter.

He described the draft resolution as “historic.”

He also stressed the importance of the military “Operation Decisive Storm” spearheaded by Saudi Arabia against Houthis in Yemen to support the legitimacy of President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.  http://allafrica.com/stories/201503280100.html

So, Egypt and other Arab leaders want a pan-Arabic military force for ‘defense.’ President Sisi also called for something like this last month (see Egypt calls for ‘King of the South’ military).  Because of terrorist threats, this is being encouraged by the West.

Additionally, because many of the Arab states do not care for Iran and the deal that the USA has been negotiating with Iran, this is another reason that they want to get together.  Notice the following:

March 27, 2015

WASHINGTON – With the Obama administration holding out for a nuclear deal with Iran, Saudi-led air strikes by 10 coalition members against Iranian-backed al-Houthi targets in neighboring Yemen have won broad U.S. congressional backing as Arab leaders move closer to creating a joint Arab military force.

The Saudis want to intervene more aggressively against ISIS jihadist fighters and the spread of Iranian influence in the region.

Creation of a joint force – which has been discussed in recent years but never implemented – comes as the Saudis and close ally Egypt see the United States moving toward a nuclear deal with Iran.

The imminent deal has caused Riyadh to conclude it can no longer rely on U.S. security guarantees and must take the security initiative. …

Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., in a joint statement said Saudi Arabia “and our Arab partners deserve our support as they seek to restore order in Yemen, which has collapsed into civil war.”

“We understand why or Saudi and other Arab partners felt compelled to take action,” they said. “The prospect of radical groups like al-Qaida, as well as Iranian-backed militants, finding safe haven on the border of Saudi Arabia was more than our Arab partners could withstand.”

Over the weekend, foreign ministers assembled in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh at an Arab League conference to come up with a plan for such a joint force.

From this joint force, the airstrikes now occurring in Yemen against the Iranian-backed Houthis could be followed for the first time by ground troops assembled from some 10 Sunni countries, including Gulf Arab nations. The intention of the ground forces will be to compel the Houthis to negotiate a resolution of the Yemeni crisis.

The joint force would be headquartered either in Cairo, Egypt, or the Saudi capital o Riyadh and would be comprised on an initial 40,000 elite troops. The force would be backed up by jet fighters, warships and light armor. http://www.wnd.com/2015/03/u-s-iran-nuke-deal-prompts-arabs-to-create-own-force/#6X0CuqEWvZ64gXsB.99

So an Arabic army is being prompted by Arabic concerns and USA encouragement.  Having a plan with 40,000 troops is only the beginning.  Even if it has problems, a pan-Arabic coalition, with temporary involvement from Turkey and some others, is prophesied.

The Bible specific tells of a military force that will form which will involve Egypt, nations in North Africa and the Middle East (including Turkey), and a leader referred to as the King of the South:

2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says:

“‘Wail and say, “Alas for that day!” 3 For the day is near, the day of the LORD is near- a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations. 4 A sword will come against Egypt, and anguish will come upon Cush. When the slain fall in Egypt, her wealth will be carried away and her foundations torn down.

5 Cush and Put, Lydia and all Arabia, Libya and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.

6 “‘This is what the LORD says:

“‘The allies of Egypt will fall and her proud strength will fail. From Migdol to Aswan they will fall by the sword within her, declares the Sovereign LORD. 7 “‘They will be desolate among desolate lands, and their cities will lie among ruined cities. 8 Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are crushed.

9 “‘On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come (Ezekiel 30:2-9, NIV).

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. 41He will also invade the Beautiful Land. Many countries will fall, but Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be delivered from his hand. 42 He will extend his power over many countries; Egypt will not escape. 43 He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and all the riches of Egypt, with the Libyans and Cushitese in submission. (Daniel 11:40-43, NIV)

(Note: I intentionally cited the NIV as it does not make the translation mistake of putting the word “Ethiopians” in as the references in the original Hebrew means Cushites, and this does NOT have to include the nation currently referred to as Ethiopia.)

Part of why I bold some of the scriptures is to point out that the confederation of primarily Arabic states that Ezekiel 30:2-9 and Daniel 11:40-43 refer to is for the end times.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is again calling for something that could develop into the type of military that will be involved in those end time prophecies. Leaders of several other Arab nations are also supporting this idea.

I would also add here that Egypt is planning on building a new capital with money from other Arab nations, and that capital could end up being important to the coming King of the South (see also Is the King of the South’s capital being built in Egypt?).  The location of the current Arabic summit is in the vicinity of where this capital may be built.

Although Muslims are supposed to believe the Bible, they tend to believe that it has been corrupted by Jews and the ‘crusaders’ (Greco-Romans who claim Christianity)–thus they will generally not rely on it nor trust it.  If leaders of Muslim nations truly would read and believe the Bible, they would see that the type of military force they want to put together will ultimately change and end in disaster.

Ezekiel 30 and Daniel 11 clearly show that Egypt and many who align with it will not fare well (Daniel 11, however, also shows that the Turks and some of the Arabs will be spared that destruction in verse 41, as some of the allies of the final King of the South will betray him per Daniel 11:25-26).

Bible prophecy has many warnings that Muslim, Western, Asian, and other leaders are ignoring.

While the end is not yet (cf. Matthew 24:6), we are getting closer and world events show that leaders are calling for steps consistent with end time Bible prophecies.
