CNN misses the real cost of Brexit

CNN posted the following:

London (CNN Business)The UK economy could be headed for its first quarterly contraction since late 2012 after uncertainty over Brexit caused a sharp slowdown in manufacturing.

Britain’s economy shrunk by 0.4% in April, according to official data published Monday that was even more dire than economists had expected. The data also showed a 0.1% contraction in March. …

Prime Minister Theresa May is stepping down, and it’s not clear when — or if — Brexit will happen, and on what terms. Some of her potential successors have suggested leaving the bloc on October 31 — the latest deadline -— without a deal to protect trade.

The cost of Brexit will be more than economic.

Consider the following from Reuters:

LONDON/PARIS (Reuters) – Boris Johnson, the favourite to succeed Theresa May as Britain’s prime minister, said on Sunday he would withhold payment of the country’s European Union exit bill to try and get a better deal – a move that drew an immediate rebuke from France. …

“I think our friends and partners need to understand that the money is going to be retained until such time as we have greater clarity about the way forward,” Johnson told the Sunday Times. “In getting a good deal, money is a great solvent and a great lubricant.”

A source close to French President Emmanuel Macron said failure to pay the 39 billion pound Brexit bill would be equivalent to a sovereign debt default.

While Boris Johnson and many others in the UK do not believe that the UK needs to pay the EU to leave it–many in the EU have a different view.

If the Europeans believe that the UK has defaulted, they will be even more inclined to take other steps to collect on that ‘debt.’

The EU will likely take trade steps against the UK that it will not like.

Like the USA (Daniel 11:39), the Europeans will one day takeover the lands of the British-descended peoples and divide it for gain.

Notice the following scriptures:

16 The anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them (Lamentations 4:16, KJV).

2 And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land. They have also cast lots for my people…(Joel 3:2-3, NKJV).

17… Your land shall be divided by survey line; You shall die in a defiled land; And Israel shall surely be led away captive From his own land (Amos 7:17, NKJV)

I used the KJV for Lamentations 4:16 as it correctly translated the Hebrew word as divided. The term is translated as “scattered them” by the NKJV in Lamentations, but it is the same Hebrew word (Strong’s 2505) used in Daniel 11:39 translated as “divide” –which will happen to the USA by the Europeans.

Economic concerns remain high in the UK. Yet, what will ultimately happen will be more than economically brutal.

Brexit will not turn out well for the UK (cf. Daniel 8:24-25; Isaiah 17:3).
