WCC & COP23: Ecumenical-political climate change agenda

COGwriter

Meetings about “climate change” are continuing, with COP23 beginning today (COP23 stands for 23rd Conference of the Parties):

November 6, 2017

The World Council of Churches, ACT Alliance and Lutheran World Federation that represent more than half a billion Christians worldwide are issuing a united call for action on climate justice, which they describe as the largest call of its kind in history.

In a joint video message released on Nov. 5, leaders of the three organizations called upon the decision makers at COP23 to follow up on the Paris Agreement to enable accountable and ambitious action.

“We must act together for climate justice”, said Rudelmar Bueno de Faria, general secretary of ACT Alliance.

“Experts from many of our members will be advocating at COP to ensure that the outcomes reflect the needs and the rights of the most vulnerable”.

COP23, the UN Climate Change Conference, begins on Monday Nov. 6 in the German city of Bonn and will be presided over by Fiji. http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/global-churches-act-together-in-call-to-cop-23-to-deliver-climate-justice/60448.htm

So, again we see the World Council of Churches pushing the climate change agenda. That is not a surprise as last year, its top leader equated ignoring climate change with the unpardonable sin (watch The ‘Unpardonable Sin’ and ‘Climate Change’?). Notice, now that the term “climate justice” is being used. This suggests a political agenda–it is not that there has not always been a political agenda, but using the term “justice” seems to be a greater call for political action by religious leaders. And it should be added that the Vatican, which is not officially part of the World Council of Churches, also supports (and pushes) the climate change agenda.

The World Council of Churches and the Vatican do NOT see sins, like sexual immorality, as a cause for weather issues. But that is something that the Bible teaches (see Weather Blessings and Sorrows).

While we should not try to harm planet Earth, Pope Francis, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew, and the Secretary General of the World Council of Churches’ Olav Fykse Tveit all push addressing ‘climate change’ as a high or top priority for humanity. The Kingdom of God is not on their radar. Instead they seem to be supporting the rise of the rider of the white horse of the apocalypse (Revelation 6:1-2; watch also Ecumenism and the ride of the White Horse of the Apocalypse).

As far as COP23 goes, the German press reported the following:

6 November 2017

COP23: What’s at stake?

Climate agreements are hard-won through laborious negotiations, and this week’s UN climate talks will be no different. Organizers want to send a signal to President Trump and other deniers that climate change is real.

[T]he United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) … annual conference … {runs} from November 6 to 17. …

High on the COP23 agenda is firming up the 2015 Paris Agreement, which saw signatories commit to voluntary measures to keep global warming below 2 degrees Celsius.

They have also agreed to make their targets more ambitious over the coming years. So far, national targets under the accord aren’t enough to keep within the 2-degree limit.

Out-going German Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks told DW, “I expect we will take steps to clarify how we will fulfil the Paris climate agreement. That might sound unspectacular. But it’s like a new, worldwide law, which was adopted in December 2015. And for this, you now need rules of interpretation.”

Almost all UN states are committed to the accord. The stark exception is the United States.

Trump’s shadow

Donald Trump’s climate denialism casts a dark shadow over the conference. This year, the US president rescinded his predecessor Barack Obama’s commitment to the global pact. …

With the most powerful country in the world isolated at the highest level, Germany is often cast as taking global leadership on climate protection. …

Germany might lead another important achievement at the conference, with a plan for climate insurance for around 400 million people in the global south. http://www.dw.com/en/cop23-whats-at-stake/a-41197024

So, Germany may lead the world, while the USA is considered to be a problem. For its current position, the USA has been called a “rogue nation” (watch The USA Declared a ‘Rogue Nation’!).

Back in December 2015, a major international agreement was announced in Paris in the COP21 meeting (Conference of the Parties, 21st meeting). The United Nations’ leader Ban Ki-moon pushed for this agreement and succeeded. The Vatican had done work for this as well, but mainly behind the scenes in Paris (see Role of Pope Francis ‘transformative’ for COP21 climate change conference). Then US President Obama attended the first part of the conference and pushed for this global climate deal (see Ecumenalists push for COP21 ‘climate change’ agenda: a solution for terrorism? Barack Obama seemingly wants to stay the course). Later Barack Obama and the Chinese signed something to accept it. But that was something that Donald Trump could get out of legally as it was not a Congressionally-approved treaty.

The COP21 Paris agreement was consistent with Pope Francis’ Laudato Si encyclical in areas of international cooperation, climate matters, and forced wealth redistribution in the Spring of 2015. The accord is basically a move towards socialism and world governance. Many want more of both. Pope Francis gave Donald Trump a copy of his Laudato Si encyclical to read when the two met shortly before Donald Trump’s announcement about the Paris Accords. On June 1, 2017 , US President Donald Trump announced his intention for the US to withdraw from the Paris climate accords (see Donald Trump announces withdraw from Paris accords: A slap in the face to Pope Francis and the Europeans?). He followed that up with executive orders.

European leaders have been outraged because Donald Trump would not commit to the climate change agenda and other agendas they are promoting (see CNN: Trump’s actions have ‘weakened’ the West, German foreign minister says and FOX: ‘Stephen Hawking says humans must flee Earth within century.’ Angela Merkel furious with Donald Trump).

As regular readers of this page are aware, this rift was expected. Notice something I wrote in my book Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse:

Donald Trump’s view of climate change is expected to set up some type of issue between the USA and Europe. Europe will tend to see the USA as an irresponsible polluter of the planet, while Europe will claim to be the protector that the world needs. (Thiel B. Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse. Nazarene Books, 2017, p. 45)

The Paris agreement, that many in Europe have pushed, is consistent with the “New Universal Agenda” that the 193 members of the United Nations approved in late September of 2015.

As I wrote in the past, this COP21 agreement is likely to greatly benefit Germany. Germany is a world leader in developing cleaner types of engines. Germany also appears to be in the lead to produce energy via helium fusion, and hence reduce the need for fossil fuels (see also German helium fusion stellarator may help propel Europe to dominate the world).

The Bible prophesies that an economically-powerful Europe will arise (cf. Revelation chapters 13 and 18). This accord may help pave the way for nations to become wealthy trading with the end time power connected with Mystery Babylon the Great (Revelation 17:1-5), until it falls (Revelation 18:1-3).

But this will NOT stop the coming warming that will hit the Earth:

9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory. (Revelation 16:9)

The ecumenical climate change movement will not prevent the coming heat. Humankind is not willing to properly repent now, nor will most then. Actually, Jesus will come to destroy those that destroy the Earth:

18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth. (Revelation 11:18)

The vision of the ecumenical movement and the Europeans to fix the environment will not work. That is part of why Jesus will need to return.

Many are not pleased with the USA’s official direction on the climate and this will not end well. The Bible also prophesies the end of the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses) and that it will be taken over by a power that really did not think it intended to, but would do so anyway (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11).

Some items of related interest may include:

The ‘Unpardonable Sin’ and ‘Climate Change’? On September 7, 2016, Olav Fykse Tveit, Church of Norway Pastor, and the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, essentially declared that those who ignore ‘climate change’ are committing the ‘unpardonable sin’ against the Holy Spirit. Are those two even related? In this video, Dr. Thiel answers that and explains from the Bible what the ‘unpardonable sin’ is and how you can avoid it. He also discusses aspects of Christianity and the environment in this video.
Ecumenism and the ride of the White Horse of the Apocalypse Instead of a celebration of a separation from Rome, many celebrated the 500 anniversary of Martin Luther’s 95 theses as an ecumenical time to come together. Vatican, Eastern Orthodox, and and Protestant leaders made positive comments about the 500th anniversary. When does the Bible teach Christian unity is to come about? Is the ecumenical movement good or, instead consistent with something that Jesus warned about? Are Christians to come out of spiritual Babylon and be separate? Has the first seal of Revelation 6, related to the rider on the white horse of the Apocalypse, begun? Had it began before the 21st century? Are there several events that show that this seal may have been opened in September 2009? Or have we at least seen signs consistent with the ride of the white horse of religious deception and ecumenism since that time? Trump Presidency Magic 8 Ball or Bible Prophecy? BBC reported that one might as well use a ‘Magic Eight-Ball’ to try to predict what will happen in the remaining time of Donald Trump’s presidency. What is a ‘Magic Eight-Ball’? Dr. Thiel not only explains that, but also briefly goes over 10 biblically-based warnings he wrote would happen if Donald Trump were elected that have already began to come to pass. He also goes over something he wrote back in 2008 that the Trump presidency is also helping lead to fulfillment. Should you trust Bible prophecy or not? Dr. Thiel says that Bible prophecy can be trusted, despite the view of skeptics and others that either overlook or despise the Bible. This is a video.
