Brexit, Northern Ireland, and Gibraltar

Gibraltar

There are issues that Northern Ireland and Gibraltar are facing because of the Brexit vote. Residents of both of those locations voted against the Brexit and for staying in the European Union. Now, both territories are facing challenges.

Notice something related to Northern Ireland:

April 15, 2017

For the past couple of decades, the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland has been shrinking, not in length but in density, all the apparatus of othering – customs posts, identity checks, soldiers – replaced by simple roadside reminders (blink and you’ll miss them) that speed limits are now in kilometres instead of miles. Already, though, in the months since the EU referendum, there are signs that could be about to change again. To be precise, there are yellow-and-black signs attached to telegraph poles and lamp-posts on the Northern Ireland side of the all-but-invisible line: “Warning! If there is a hard border this road may be closed from March 2019.”

I am taking a wild guess that they weren’t put up at the behest of the Department for Exiting the European Union.

Last June, Northern Ireland voted 56% to 44% in favour of remaining in the EU, https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/apr/15/brexit-northern-irish-border

The border between the Republic of Ireland and the UK’s Northern Ireland have been open for some time, and now there are concerns as well as confusion on what will happen in the future because of Brexit.

Notice something related to the British controlled territory of Gibraltar:

April 15, 2017

Tensions increased after an European Union document suggested that Spain would be given a veto on post-Brexit agreements governing the Gibraltar. …in the Brexit referendum previous year, 96 per cent of people living in Gibraltar voted to remain with the European Union, and its parliament has indicated that it would like to negotiate “a special status” with the European Union after the United Kingdom leaves.

With Brexit tensions rising over the British territory, Tuesday a Spanish gunship the Infanta Christina made an illegal incursion into Gibraltar’s territorial waters.

A Spanish gunboat has been chased off by Royal Navy vessels after entering British waters off Gibraltar following days of growing tensions.

Incursions from Spanish ships in British territorial waters are a regular occurrence, as the Spanish dispute Gibraltar’s claim to the waters.

Spanish Foreign Minister Alfonso Dastis told the Spanish newspaper El Pais that Madrid insists it should get a veto over any agreements regarding the strategic enclave as Britain prepares to leave the EU.

Spain has a long-standing territorial claim on Gibraltar, which has been held by the United Kingdom since 1713 and has the status of a British overseas territory. …

Asked about the EU Council draft negotiating guidelines for the future EU-UK trade deal, including a veto for Spain on its application in Gibraltar, the Prime Minister, for the first time, confirmed that Spain – and every member of the EU27 – already has a veto on any future deal.

“For the Spanish, Gibraltar is an affront to their sense of national identity and their sense of sovereignty“, Jack Straw, former British foreign secretary, told BBC Radio 4. http://normangeestar.net/2017/04/15/spanish-navy-in-illegal-incursion-into-gibraltar-waters/

Despite voting against Brexit, the vast majority in Gibraltar still do not wish to become part of Spain (see also Will the UK Lose Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands?).

Paul Quigley, a former BBC journalist, put out his comments on Brexit and Gibraltar:

He told Express.co.uk: “The EU has no legal standing whatsoever in this matter. Since the Treaty of Utrecht in 1717, Gibraltar is a sovereign part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.“The EU has absolutely no jurisdiction over this. No attention or credibility need be given to such arrant nonsense coming from this unelected comissars in an undemocratic institution.”He also accused Brussels of “sequestering” Spain’s former sovereign rights.Mr Quigley said: “Spain is still part of the European Union, so this is a contradiction in terms, as the EU has effectively sequestered all of Spain’s former sovereign rights anyway, so it would be an issue between the British Government and Brussels.“This is nothing to do with Spain. So these EU clowns can’t have it both ways.” 04/14/17 http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/791520/EU-gibraltar-Spain-UK-brexit-news-the-rock

Not all in the international community hold to Paul Quigley’s views. Notice the following from Dan Glazebrook (a freelance political writer who has written for RT, Counterpunch, Z magazine, the Morning Star, the Guardian, the New Statesman, the Independent and Middle East Eye):

British sovereignty over Gibraltar stems from the same treaty that gave Britain a monopoly on the slave trade and granted Brazil to Portugal. It, like all these abominations, belongs in the dustbin of history.

The British ruling class was frothing with belligerent outrage last week following EU President Donald Tusk’s comments on Gibraltar in his letter to Theresa May.

Responding to the British Prime Minister’s letter formally requesting to leave the EU, Tusk noted that any agreement between the UK and the EU would not apply to Gibraltar without Spanish consent. …

All of this prompted a slightly bemused response from the Spanish, with Foreign Minister Alfonso Dastis commenting that his government was “surprised by the tone of comments coming out of a country traditionally characterized by its composure…it seems someone is losing their cool”, he added.

In fact, the longest rulers of Gibraltar were neither Spanish nor British, but North African Muslims. The word ‘Gibraltar’ itself comes from the Arabic name for the Rock – Jabat-at-Tariq, meaning “mountain of Tariq.” Tariq led the Umayyad conquest of Gibraltar in 711, and it remained, along with the rest of Spain, under Moorish control until 1462. Then, after two and half centuries of Spanish rule, Britain took the territory in 1704, its troops conducting mass burglary and rape, causing over 90 percent of the inhabitants to flee. In 1713, Britain forced Spain to cede the territory to Britain “in perpetuity” in the Treaty of Utrecht, turning it into another piece of Britain’s growing colonial jigsaw. …

Following the end of (most of) Britain’s formal empire … Effectively, places like Gibraltar, alongside other UK-managed territories such as the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Jersey, Guernsey, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the British Virgin Islands, were transformed into a giant global money laundering service. Local branches of the major London banks were established in each territory, taking in vast amounts of criminal wealth, which could then be safely transferred to each bank’s parent branch in London. …

At present, Gibraltar is – at least in theory – bound by EU regulations on financial transparency. Once it leaves the EU, however, none of those will apply. This is why Spain, in particular, is so worried about Gibraltar being used to destroy its tax base even further. As Richard Murphy of Tax Research UK has pointed out, Gibraltar “is funded by its activity as a tax haven and center for offshore gambling. The first activity is intent on undermining the global economy and the legitimate tax revenues of democratically elected governments. The other is wedded to destroying individual lives. Quite emphatically, this is a place that is dedicated to undermining well-being.” It is time it was closed down. https://www.rt.com/op-edge/384322-gibraltar-uk-taxes-money-laundering/

Irrespective of the involvement of Gibraltar in the financial services field, one day the situation with Gibraltar will change, as will Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland will one day become part of the European Beast power, and it is likely that Ireland, officially currently the Republic of Ireland, will assist in the governance of it.

Gibraltar will will one day become part of the European Beast power, and it is likely that Spain, officially currently the Kingdom of Spain, will assistance in the governance of it.

Why do I write this?

Because of biblical prophecies.

And despite British hopes, loss of territories will one day include Northern Ireland and Gibraltar. Notice a couple of prophetic warnings that are consistent with that:

24 ‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. 25 For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. 26 You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you 27 (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), 28 lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you. (Leviticus 18:24-29)

23 ‘And if by these things you are not reformed by Me, but walk contrary to Me, 24 then I also will walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times for your sins. 25 And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. (Leviticus 26:23-25)

58 “If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, 59 then the Lord will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues — great and prolonged plagues — and serious and prolonged sicknesses. 60 Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. 61 Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed. 62 You shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of heaven in multitude, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God. 63 And it shall be, that just as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good and multiply you, so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you and bring you to nothing; and you shall be plucked from off the land which you go to possess. (Deuteronomy 28:58-63)

These territorial losses will include Northern Ireland and Gibraltar, as well as England, Wales, and Scotland. Yes, one day, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will be no more.

For many years, the major sea gates of the world were possessed/controlled by the United States (Panama Canal and certain locations in the Pacific ocean) and the British Empire (Straits of Malacca, Singapore, Suez Canal, Bab el Mandeb, Strait of Hormuz, Simon’s Town/Cape of Good Hope, etc.). And while that is no longer the case for many of them, they seem to have been prophesied to be taken away for disobedience as well (cf. Deuteronomy 28)—and certainly these nations have disobeyed the God of Abraham, as well as actually lost many of those gates. Thus, it seems logical to conclude that the remaining “sea gates” that the UK has such as Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands will be separated from UK control. Spain directly, or perhaps, through the EU (or some other European confederation) indirectly, will force out British control over Gibraltar.

And I expect that the Republic of Ireland of Ireland will have control over Northern Ireland and probably other lands.

Notice what Article 3 the Irish Constitution states:

It is the firm will of the Irish Nation, in harmony and friendship, to unite all the people who share the territory of the island of Ireland, in all the diversity of their identities and traditions, recognising that a united Ireland shall be brought about only by peaceful means with the consent of a majority of the people, democratically expressed, in both jurisdictions in the island. Until then, the laws enacted by the Parliament established by this Constitution shall have the like area and extent of application as the laws enacted by the Parliament that existed immediately before the coming into operation of this Constitution.

While the democratic way is one way, if that does not work, military pressure will accomplish this (cf. Daniel 8:24-25, 11:39).

That view of Ireland is also consistent with certain Catholic prophecies:

St. Senanus (d. 560): They (English) themselves will betray each other: in consequence their sovereignty will be broken…One monarch will rule in Ireland over the English (Culleton R. Gerald. The Reign of Antichrist, Reprint TAN Books, Rockford, IL, 1974, p. 128).

St. Malachy (12th century). “Ireland will suffer English oppression for a week of centuries, but will preserve her fidelity to God and His Church. At the end of that time she will be delivered, and the English in turn must suffer severe chastisement. Ireland, however, will be instrumental in bringing back the English to the unity of Faith.” (Dupont, Yves. Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), 1973, p.15)

Priest G. Rossi (19th century): Ah! wretched Protestantism shall have to answer for the loss of faith… English schism and heresy have squandered their treasures and abused their great temporal power, not only in persecuting-the faith in Great Britain and Ireland, but also in banishing the true religion of Jesus Christ from their vast American possessions…Their long-deserved punishment, however, is approaching from the North! (Rossi, Gaudentius. The Christian Trumpet: Or, Previsions and Predictions about Impending General Calamities, the Universal Triumph of the Church, the Coming of the Anti-Christ, the Last Judgment, and the End of the World; Divided Into Three Parts, 4th edition.  Patrick Donahoe, 1875. Original from Oxford University. Digitized Sep 1, 2006, pp. 16, 255).

Although I wrote what I did based upon biblical prophecies, the desires of Spain and Ireland, as well as the writings of Catholic prophets, are consistent with the view the UK will lose Northern Ireland and Gibraltar.

As far as the Brexit goes, a new poll concluded: Support for Brexit hits a five-month high, with 55 per cent of UK population now backing exit from European Union. With what has been going on in the UK, the EU, and USA since the Brexit vote, more in the UK are concluding that they are desirous of leaving the EU. The EU has taken several stances that the UK does not like, including stances that the EU used to pretend it did not really have. Glimpses of the true colors of the European project (e.g. Daniel 2:41-43; Isaiah 10:5-8) have re-assured some in the UK that leaving the EU is in its best interest.

Europe is not going to ‘get over’ the Brexit and will one day take actions that most of those in the UK will not consider possible (cf. Daniel 8:24-25, 11:39).

Forbes’ Brexit Monster is the Beast of Revelation Various ones have been properly convinced that there is a plan for a European superstate. Forbes’ writer Tom Worstall wrote that the Brexit vote was about the United Kingdom “not joining the monster of the European Union to come.” The Bible tells of a Beast monster that will arise in the end times in Europe. Dr. Thiel cites news reports, as well as the Old and New Testaments, to show that the monster many fear will arise in Europe, despite the vote by the British to exit the European Union. Will the UK Lose Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands? For many years, the major sea gates of the world were possessed/controlled by the United States (Panama Canal and certain locations in the Pacific ocean) and the British Empire (Straits of Malacca, Singapore, Suez Canal, Bab el Mandeb, Strait of Hormuz, Simon’s Town/Cape of Good Hope, Malta, etc.), and many are no longer under their control. Spain wants Gibraltar and Argentina wants the Falklands (also known as the Malvinas). UK Prime Minister David Cameron says the UK will defend the Falklands Gibraltar. Does the Bible give clues as to what will happen with those ‘sea gates’? Do promises made the Jacob’s mother Rebekah play a role? What about Deuteronomy 28? This is a video.
Post Brexit Prophecy On June 23, 2016, the voters of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) chose to leave the European Union. Now with this BRitish EXIT (Brexit) vote, what is prophesied to happen to the UK? Will the UK do well or be taken over and made slaves? Dr. Thiel explains from biblical prophecies what is ahead for the UK, Europe, and even the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. This is a video.
Will the UK Lose Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands? Spain wants Gibraltar and Argentina wants the Falklands (also known as the Malvinas). The Panama Canal and its Impact on Biblical Prophecy Do you know much of the history of the Panama Canal? Is there anything in the Bible to support the idea that the USA could have gotten it and then lost it? Dr. Thiel goes over aspects of the history of the Panama Canal, as well as biblical prophecies related to it and some of the other “sea gates” that the UK and USA have controlled. This was videoed at the actual Miraflores locks at the Panama Canal and some of the audio varies. A written article of related interest is titled The Panama Canal and the End of the USA?
