Polls again wrong, Donald Trump asserts victory, but …

Similar to the 2016 US Presidential election, polls showing how badly Donald Trump would lose the 2020 election were wrong. Here is a little about that:

November 4, 2020

Chaos. That’s the best way to describe what has happened …

Initially Trump shocked pollsters – again – after winning Florida by a whopping 370K votes where a surge in Hispanic support crippled hopes for a Biden landslide, followed by wins in Ohio and Texas.

No matter the final outcome, Trump dramatically outperformed initial polling estimates, and even the NYT admits that “many of the state polls were wrong and underestimated support for Republicans — again.” A big question in coming days according to the NYT will be “why: Did polls again fail to include enough working-class white voters, as was the case in 2016? Or was it something else?” (spoiler alert: it was something else, and it’s called poll bias being constantly in the Democrats’ favor).

It is also notable that Trump managed to improve his overall popular vote count by nearly 4 million from 2016, rising to 66.75 million versus 62.98 million, and as David Rosenberg puts it, Trump clearly has more than just a “base” supporting him. Or there are a lot of folks who feared a Blue Wave/move to the left. “America is never going socialist. That’s one message among many.”

Meanwhile, Biden has not made as much progress in key areas as was expected, while the loss of Hispanic support in Florida should serve as a major warning for Democrats, with even the NYT admitting “Democrats struggled to match their 2016 margins among Hispanic voters” which hurt Biden, “especially in Florida and Texas.”

The two candidates took to addressing the nation shortly after midnight, with Biden coming up first, and urging patience.

“We believe we’re on track to win this election,” he said. “We’re going to have to be patient until the hard work of tallying the votes is finished. And it ain’t over until every vote is counted, every ballot is counted.”

This was followed by Trump at 2:30am when he declared himself the winner, and said he would call on the Supreme Court to stop counting ballots in states where he led, while urging more counting in states where he was behind. Trump also claimed “fraud” and he called the election an “embarrassment to the country.” https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/here-latest-election

The major media’s disinformation regarding the Russian collusion connection to Donald Trump, impeachment pressure since he wanted the Hunter Biden-Ukraine connection investigated, burying negative stories related to Joe Biden, and the pushing misleading information about COVID-19 did not work quite as well as the major media hoped.

As it turns out, I told people yesterday morning that I expected Donald Trump to declare victory after the votes were cast, which he did do. Here is more related to him and that:

November 4, 2020

As Election Day came and went without a verdict in the presidential race, President Donald Trump grew agitated. At 2:21 a.m., the president took the stage before a well-lubricated crowd in the East Room and falsely claimed he had won. He vowed to take his case to the Supreme Court.

“We were getting ready for a big celebration,” Trump said. “We were winning everything and all of the sudden it was just called off.” …

He added, “We will win this and as far as I’m concerned we already have won it.” …

Neither Trump nor Biden had yet reached the 270 Electoral College votes required to win the presidency.

Biden, too, felt the need to respond to the indecision.

Just after midnight, the former vice president’s motorcade abruptly shuttled him from his house in Wilmington, Delaware, to an outdoor speaking venue nearby, where he cautioned that a result might not come for a few days.

“We’re going to have to be patient,” Biden said around 12:30 a.m., as supporters honked their car horns to signal their assent. “It ain’t over until every vote is counted.” https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-donald-trump-elections-courts-5970b4505da7a306fe7916b9611bd9d2

Donald Trump sent out a tweet today that Twitter inserted a warning inside:

The above tweet is no surprise. But let me add that Twitter did not give me a way I could see to eliminate its warning from this tweet–if Donald Trump does win, he may call for more investigations of Twitter.

It should be noted that Donald Trump has stated that the US Supreme Court may need be involved in this election:

November 4, 2020

Democrat Joe Biden’s campaign says it will fight any efforts by President Donald Trump’s campaign to go to the U.S. Supreme Court to prevent ballots from being tabulated.

In a statement sent before 4 a.m. Wednesday, Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon called Trump’s statement that he will “be going to the U.S. Supreme Court” and that he wants “all voting to stop” “outrageous, unprecedented and incorrect.” https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-joe-biden-delaware-wilmington-elections-29b5233341f4eea285dab7fcb4a2709d

Both Joe Biden and Donald Trump look to have over 200 electoral college votes each, but none is considered to have the needed 270 electoral votes to win. The results are not finalized and it will take some time for that to happen. One of the reasons is that, as the map below shows, many states have changed things related to voting this year.

States in red had at least one local, state, or federal primary election date or method of voting altered as of August 5, 2020 (from Jon698)

Many expect that once the official counts are released the tide will favor Joe Biden and Donald Trump will declare election fraud. The major media will continue to say that voter fraud does not happen much, despite evidence to the contrary. This will set the stage for unrest–particularly from some groups on the right. And should Donald Trump be officially declared the winner, groups on the left have plans for riots and protests. The Bible prophesies, “There shall be terror within” (Deuteronomy 32:25).

Do not kid yourself that either Donald Trump or Joe Biden are men of truly upstanding character.

The Bible teaches:

20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil (Isaiah 5:20).

2 You shall not follow a crowd to do evil (Exodus 23:2)

The “lesser of two evils” is still not good.

God’s people need to trust God and depart from evil:

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil. (Proverbs 3:5-7)

As far as political leaders go, the Apostle Paul wrote to Christians with these instructions:

1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

Notice that we are to pray for worldly leaders and those that have authority over us so that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life.

Following the example of Jesus, pray for God’s will, not your own, to be done (Luke 22:42).

What should a Christian do?

Jesus said to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33) and to pray for God’s kingdom to come (Matthew 6:10).

No matter who you may think is better, the lesser of two evils is still evil (for more specifics, watch Biden, Trump, and the Bible).

Pray for God’s kingdom to come and HIS will to be done related to this election (cf. Matthew 6:10).

That is what I have been doing and encourage all to do.
