The EU-Mercosur agreement is now partially in force, which is something that was predicted here.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a report about the agreement:<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-article-content c-article-content--business js-article-content\">\n<blockquote><p>1 May 2026<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"c-article-summary\">The EU-Mercosur free-trade deal took provisional effect on Friday despite a legal challenge before the Court of Justice of the European Union.<\/h2>\n<div class=\"c-article-content c-article-content--business js-article-content\">\n<p>After more than 25 years of negotiations, the trade deal between the European Union and Mercosur countries \u2014 Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay \u2014 took provisional effect on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen pushed ahead with provisional application despite a legal challenge before the Court of Justice of the European Union, effectively sidestepping a parliamentary vote on the deal&#8217;s full ratification.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Provisional application will show the agreement&#8217;s tangible benefits,&#8221; von der Leyen wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And how legitimate sensitives have been addressed.&#8221; &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The agreement eliminates tariffs on a majority of trade between the two sides, therefore creating a free-trade zone of more than 700 million people between the EU and Mercosur countries.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the EU Chief described the deal as &#8220;good news for EU businesses of all sizes, good news for our consumers and good news for our farmers, who will gain valuable new export opportunities, with full protection for sensitive sectors.&#8221; &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Bolivia, the newest Mercosur member, was not part of the negoiations but can join the agreement in the coming years. <a May 2026<\/p>\n<p>The European Union\u2019s mammoth trade deal with South American bloc Mercosur provisionally enters into force Friday, despite a pending court ruling on its legality.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement to create one of the world\u2019s biggest free-trade zones was sealed in January after more than 25 years of intermittent negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Together, the EU and Mercosur account for 30% of global GDP and more than 700 million consumers.<\/p>\n<p>The deal, which eliminates tariffs on more than 90% of trade between the two sides, has proven divisive in Europe, with France leading opposition over concerns some of its farmers will be left worse off.<\/p>\n<p>But \u2014 backed by a majority of EU countries \u2014 Brussels plowed ahead as it pushes to diversify trade in the face of challenges from the United States and China. <a cannot fully offset the blow from U.S. tariffs.<\/p>\n<p>Backers including \u200cGermany and Spain say the agreement will help compensate for the hit from U.S. <a class=\"text-module__text__0GDob shore up free trade at a time when Trump&#8217;s tariffs and Chinese export curbs on critical minerals undermine a rules-based global order.<\/p>\n<p>The European bloc is also hoping the agreements exports<\/a> to the United States of 15% or more and a hit to GDP of some 0.3% this \u200byear alone. <a European Trade Moves<\/h2>\n<p>And Europe?<\/p>\n<p>Donald Trump&#8217;s tariffs, threats, etc. are a major concern for Europe and its trade.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, I wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Europeans have been working with Latin America, China, Russia&#8217;s Eurasian Union, and other areas of the world to try to set up its dominance of world trade as well as standards for world trade. We are seeing BRICS, the Global South, the EU, and others working on ways to trade and not have to deal with the descendants of Ephraim (UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) and Manasseh (the USA).<\/p>\n<p>The Europeans will work with many nations to secure stronger trade agreements.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Europeans are doing this, and Southeast Asia, India, Africa, and Latin America\/Mercosur are all part of the Global South.<\/p>\n<p>Properly understood biblical prophecies are coming to pass.<\/p>\n<p>What I predicted was the the re-election of Donald Trump would motivate the Europeans to agree to the trade deal with Mercosur.
