A major Moscow oil refinery was hit for a second time in a week and commercial flights at Moscow airports were disrupted.<\/p>\n<p>Against the backdrop of conflict, the EU has been quietly seeking to reopen communications with Moscow even as it doubles down on its support for Kyiv. Russian President Vladimir Putin, meanwhile, has tried to cut out Europe and Kyiv and negotiate Ukraine\u2019s future with Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2060In the past few weeks, brief contacts were made at diplomatic level to open communication channels but nothing was discussed on substance,\u201d an EU official with knowledge of the approach said on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive move. A second official, also speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media on the matter, confirmed the Russia outreach is taking place but declined to comment further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn any future scenario, the EU has specific interests that will need to be defended, therefore it is important to have established diplomatic channels with Russia. The EU is not a mediator. It supports Ukraine in its efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace,\u201d the first official added. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Putin has repeatedly said Europe cannot play any kind of mediation role in settling the conflict but has not ruled out speaking to the EU.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have never refused contacts with representatives of the European Union in any format,\u201d he said earlier this month. \u201cWe are not rejecting contacts. If they want to talk, they know how to reach us. They can pick up the phone and call. If they want to come, they are welcome to do so. It is not Russia that is refusing engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the officials, European Council President Antonio Costa \u201chas been coordinating closely with European leaders on possible engagement with Russia and the issues to be discussed when the right moment comes.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ukraine-eu-russia-zelenskyy-war-aa15744d012642764c460182bfa794e6\">https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ukraine-eu-russia-zelenskyy-war-aa15744d012642764c460182bfa794e6<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is not a surprise.<\/p>\n<p>More cooperation will happen.<\/p>\n<p>And yes, this is partially because the Europeans would like USA influence reduced&#8211;and Europe will do that more than most Russians probably think is possible (cf. Daniel 11:39; Revelation 13:3-4).<\/p>\n<p class=\"style4\">Back in 1962, notice something that the old Radio Church of God published:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>United within the ancient boundaries of the Holy Roman Empire; united by the common spiritual bond of universal Catholicism; united in a burgeoning and booming industrial economy that dominates today&#8217;s world; united geographically in the most productive and industrial complex of all the earth \u2014 at least TEN NATIONS OF MODERN EUROPE WILL MARCH ONTO THE SCENE OF WORLD HISTORY AS THE GREATEST SINGLE HUMAN FORCE EVER SEEN BY MAN! This United Europe will form a nonaggression pact or political alignment of some sort with the Soviet East. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Modern Europe is counseling and making treaties and alliances and agreements to conquer this earth! &#8230; Germany, those living in Germany, even the <strong>German government, may not yet know that they are going to join in a treaty with the Russians to destroy the United States<\/strong> and bring it to its knees-it is not in his \u201cheart\u201d to think so, but on the other hand it IS in his \u201cheart\u201d to destroy-the very characteristic of the Assyrian, the modern German, is a <em>harsh, cruel, iron, dedication to militarism and destruction!<\/em> &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>MAN&#8217;S ONLY HOPE LIES IN TURNING TO HIS CREATOR GOD!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom. to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, TURN FROM THEIR EVIL, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them&#8230; Behold, I frame evil against YOU, and devise a device against YOU: return ye now EVERY ONE from his evil way and make your ways and your doings good!&#8221; (Jer. 18:7, 8, 11).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The case of America and Great Britain is hopeless! Plain Truth, March 1962, pp. 28-29)<\/p>\n<p>The German people are now asking themselves: &#8220;Can we rely on the Americans and British?&#8221; &#8230; These questions lead to the logical conclusion that maybe the only people the Germans can rely on themselves. They are now thinking: &#8220;Perhaps we can strike a better bargain with the Russians ourselves.&#8221; &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Once a German-dominated Europe is fully established, Germany will be ready to negotiate and bargain with Russia- and behind the backs of the Western Allies if necessary. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>When will a Russo-German deal be made? Here is a quotation from a circular letter issued in September, 1950 by the Nazi Geo-political Center in Madrid:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;However long we may continue to milk the Americans of millions of dollars, there must come the inevitable moment when we shall have to make it crystal clear to them that we are not willing to join the fight against Russia for American interests &#8230; (Germany Plots with the Kremlin by T H. Terens, p. 15). &#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Most Americans and Britons are not aware of what Germany and Europe are planning against them. This is partly due to the cunning of German politics. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>World events are moving swiftly toward the climax when Great Britain and the United. States will be attacked, conquered and DESTROYED! (Boraker R. Are the Germans Secretly Dealing with Moscow? Nearly 50 years ago, they established a village called Nikolaevsk on Alaska&#8217;s Kenai peninsula. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/a\/offshoot-russian-orthodox-church-thrives-in-alaska\/3973089.html\">https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/a\/offshoot-russian-orthodox-church-thrives-in-alaska\/3973089.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Oddly, even Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff voiced concerns that Russia could end up with Alaska:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>February 3, 2020<\/p>\n<p>Adam Schiff of California claimed during closing arguments in the Senate impeachment trial Monday that President Donald Trump will sell a U.S. state to the Russian government if not removed from office.<\/p>\n<p>If \u201cabuse of power\u201d was not impeachable, Schiff argued, \u201cthen a whole range of utterly unacceptable conduct in a president would now be beyond reach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump could offer Alaska to the Russians in exchange for support in the next election, or decide to move to Mar-A-Lago permanently and leave Jared Kushner to run the country, delegating to him the decision whether they go to war.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/02\/03\/schiff-trump-will-sell-alaska-to-russia-if-we-dont-impeach-him\/\">https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/02\/03\/schiff-trump-will-sell-alaska-to-russia-if-we-dont-impeach-him\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now at that time I wrote that Donald Trump was not about to give Alaska to Russia. But the fact that Congressman Schiff brought it up shows that at least he thinks that Russia still wants Alaska back.<\/p>\n<p>Those who thought that the Biden-Harris Administration was going to smooth over diplomatic matters with Russia were probably disappointed back in March of 2021:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>March 18, 2021<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden must apologize and take back \u201cboorish\u201d allegations that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is a killer, a top Russian official said, a day after Moscow recalled its ambassador in protest.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s remark is a \u201cwatershed\u201d in relations and \u201cunacceptable in any circumstances,\u201d Konstantin Kosachyov, deputy speaker of Russia\u2019s upper house of parliament, wrote on Facebook Thursday. Moscow\u2019s initial reaction \u2014 recalling its U.S. ambassador \u2014 \u201cwon\u2019t be the last, unless there is an explanation and an apology from the American side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the first public response from the Kremlin, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the comments were \u201cvery bad.\u201d Calling the statement unprecedented in the history of U.S.-Russian ties, Peskov said it shows Biden \u201cclearly doesn\u2019t want to develop relations.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/newsfront\/biden-putin-russia-killer\/2021\/03\/18\/id\/1014240\/\">https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/newsfront\/biden-putin-russia-killer\/2021\/03\/18\/id\/1014240\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Joe Biden undoubtedly thought that he had the upper hand in this.<\/p>\n<p>While that may or may not have been personally true for Joe Biden, he does not seem to realize that the time will come when Russia will support the military end of the USA. Russia will end up in support of Europe, for a time.<\/p>\n<p>The sanctions, etc., from the Biden Administration related to Ukraine upset Russia even more, and did not stop Russia from later taking military steps.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, notice something <em>Newsweek<\/em> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>July 7, 2022<\/p>\n<p>Billboards proclaiming &#8220;Alaska Is Ours!&#8221; have been spotted in Russia one day after a key ally of Russian President\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/vladimir-putin\" data-sys=\"1\">Vladimir Putin<\/a>\u00a0suggested that the country could reclaim the territory that was sold to the U.S. in 1867.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple billboards bearing the slogan surprised residents in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk after being spotted on Thursday,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngs24.ru\/text\/gorod\/2022\/07\/07\/71469983\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according<\/a>\u00a0to Krasnoyarsk news agency NGS24. One day earlier, Putin ally and State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/putin-ally-vyacheslav-volodin-warns-us-russia-reclaim-alaska-1722342\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggested<\/a>\u00a0that Russia could &#8220;take back&#8221; Alaska in retaliation for economic sanctions imposed on Russia following the country&#8217;s invasion of Ukraine. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Let America always remember: there&#8217;s a piece of territory, Alaska,&#8221; Volodin said during a State Duma session,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.themoscowtimes.com\/2022\/07\/07\/russian-house-speaker-threatens-to-take-back-alaska-a78230\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according<\/a>\u00a0to The Moscow Times. &#8220;When they try to manage our resources abroad, let them think before they act that we, too, have something to take back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pyotr Tolstoy, deputy speaker of the State Duma, also reportedly proposed that &#8220;referendum&#8221; be held for Alaskan residents to vote on joining Russia.<\/p>\n<p>While Alaskan support for joining Russia is far from widespread, WhiteHouse.Gov petitions titled &#8220;Alaska Back to Russia&#8221; gained tens of thousands of signatures in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vocativ.com\/culture\/society\/just-crimea-alaskans-want-join-russia\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">2014<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/thousands-sign-whitehouse-gov-petition-for-alaska-to-secede-to-russia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">2015<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/alaska-ours-billboards-appear-russia-after-threat-reclaim-state-1722761\">https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/alaska-ours-billboards-appear-russia-after-threat-reclaim-state-1722761<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notice also:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-c80590a6 post-headline gb-headline-text\">\u2018Our Alaska\u2019: Russia\u2019s new talking point sparks U.S. alarm<\/h2>\n<p>July 29, 2024<\/p>\n<p>Posturing from Russia has heated up after both Russian and Chinese jets were found in international airspace only 200 miles from Alaska, and joining the chorus are Russian broadcasters now saying it\u2019s \u201cour Alaska.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alaska was purchased from the Russian Empire in 1867 and was considered a \u201cbargain basement deal. \u201cFor a price of $7.2 million (equivalent to $129 million in 2023), the oil- and resource-rich state has now become a coveted prize for Russia, which sits only 55 miles away at its closest point.<\/p>\n<p>Russian broadcaster Olga Skabeyeva, host of Russia-1 program 60 Minutes, recently referred to Alaska as Russia\u2019s Alaska during a weekend show. A former KGB analyst, he is dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry&#8217;s academy for future diplomats&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">When the going gets tough, he says, wealthier states will withhold funds from the federal government and effectively secede from the union. Social unrest up to and including a civil war will follow. The U.S. will then split along ethnic lines, and foreign powers will move in&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">&#8220;It would be reasonable for Russia to lay claim to Alaska; it was part of the Russian Empire for a long time.&#8221; A framed satellite image of the Bering Strait that separates Alaska from Russia like a thread hangs from his office wall. &#8220;It&#8217;s not there for no reason,&#8221; he says with a sly grin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">(Osborn A. Daniel 11:40). The power with the strongest military in the 21st century is the USA.
