A Pure Red Heifer Is Born!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Red Heifer Is Born in the Galilee<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;And They Will Take You a Pure Red Heifer.&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0(Numbers 19:2)<\/p>\n<p>In the shadow of the war in the north, a pure red heifer was born in a dairy farm in the Galilee Mountains. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And They Will Take You a Pure Red Heifer.&#8221; (Numbers 19:2)<\/p>\n<p>In the shadow of the war in the north, a pure red heifer was born in a dairy farm in the Galilee Mountains.<\/p>\n<p>Shai Givon, who specializes in artificial insemination in dairy farms and cattle farms on behalf of the &#8220;Ferion&#8221; company, discovered that a completely red heifer was born in a dairy farm in the north of the country from the insemination he performed on a dairy cow nine months ago. The cow as mentioned was inseminated with a Red Angus breed. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Just last week, Rabbi Azaria Ariel performed a comprehensive examination of the calf and found that she was pure in her redness and was happy to see the rapid recovery rate of the deformity in her ears. Therefore, we chose to name the calf &#8220;Tamima&#8221; in prayer that she would indeed be found pure in her body and in the redness of her hair.<\/p>\n<p>Now the Beit Midrash will be required to add to the syllabus of discussions a discussion on the definition of recovery of a fetal defect in a red cow in order to define the status of the heifer, a discussion that Daf Yomi students encountered only last week.<\/p>\n<p>The Beit Midrash, which was established only about a month ago and has about twenty Torah scholars, has already managed to decide on two significant issues. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>CONCERNING THE EAR TAG OF THE RECENTLY BORN RED HEIFER<br class=\"html-br\" \/><br class=\"html-br\" \/>Many people have expressed concern over the fact that the recently born cow had been given an ear tag before its potential as a red heifer candidate was realized. The ear tag is, of course, the standard method of identifying cattle on commercial farms. Tagging a red heifer candidate will create a deformity in the caw&#8217;s ear and disqualify the heifer, as a kosher red heifer must be free of all wounds or deformities.<br class=\"html-br\" \/><br class=\"html-br\" \/>In the case of the recently born red heifer the tag was quickly removed, allowing for the wound to heal. Rabbi Azarya Ariel of the Temple Institute, who has spent decades studying the laws concerning the red heifer, conducted a thorough examination of the heifer, as he does all red heifer candidates, to check for non-red hairs, scars or deformities. He is encouraged that the heifer&#8217;s ear is healing and won&#8217;t leave a scar or deformity. Should he discover upon a follow-up inspection that the ear hasn&#8217;t healed properly then the heifer will be disqualified. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>When, at last, a red heifer is found suitable for its ashes to be used to purify, it wall have passed multiple inspections and been found to be bearing only red hairs and having no deformities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In a newsletter in 2025, the Temple Institute has the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;Take for you a red heifer\u201d<\/strong><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">(Numbers 19:2)<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Tammuz 9, 5785\/July 5, 2025<\/div>\n<p>So much happens in this week&#8217;s Torah reading, &#8230;\u00a0<em>Moshe<\/em>, dejected and disappointed that he won&#8217;t be leading Israel into the promised land, nevertheless expedites Israel&#8217;s military exploits, bringing the nation to the eastern edge of Canaan, ready for his successor to lead them in. Bereft of his sister\u00a0<em>Miriam<\/em>, who always looked after him and to whom he owed his very life, and bereft of his brother and close associate in leading Israel these forty years,\u00a0<em>Moshe\u00a0<\/em>nevertheless pushes onward. For all purposes relieved of his command of Israel, a lame duck prophet and savior, the sole survivor of his siblings and on the receiving end of Israel&#8217;s myriad complaints,\u00a0<em>Moshe\u00a0<\/em>is all alone. Even G-d has told\u00a0<em>Moshe\u00a0<\/em>it&#8217;s time to call it quits. Nothing awaits\u00a0<em>Moshe\u00a0<\/em>but his impending day of death. Hardly a storybook ending for Israel&#8217;s greatest prophet.<\/p>\n<div>But there is comfort for\u00a0<em>Moshe. Parashat Chukat<\/em>\u00a0opens with the ordinance of the red heifer, a simple, innocent animal whose ashes will provide for the death transcending purification of one who has come close to death, having come in contact with a corpse.\u00a0<em>Chukat\u00a0<\/em>is a\u00a0<em>parasha\u00a0<\/em>filled with death and with endings, a grim reminder that life is not forever and all good things eventually come to an end. But the inexplicable power of the ashes of the red heifer say otherwise. Death, even death, the most conclusive phase of life, is not the end. This is a message for us all, but G-d, in His great compassion, focuses His attention of\u00a0<em>Moshe<\/em>, as He teaches him the\u00a0<em>Chok\u00a0<\/em>&#8211; the beyond human comprehension &#8211; ordinance of the red heifer, whose ashes, by Divine fiat and Divine fiat alone &#8211; allow us to transcend death and catch a glimpse of the other side. On the surface and in practical terms, the purifying power of the ashes of the red heifer grants us entry into the inner courtyards of the Holy Temple, a place of life and life only, where death has no dominion and the eternal life giving Presence &#8211;\u00a0<em>Shechinah\u00a0<\/em>&#8211; of HaShem is the only reality.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While this life is not the end, there is no longer a true need for a red heifer.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, the Temple Institute believes one is needed.<\/p>\n<p>A post from the Temple Institute had the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4>The Tenth\u00a0Red Heifer\u00a0Will be Prepared by the Messiah<\/h4>\n<p><strong>In recounting<\/strong>\u00a0this historical record in his commentary to the\u00a0<em>Mishna<\/em>, the great Maimonides ends with the enigmatic statement:\u00a0<em>&#8220;&#8230; and the tenth red heifer will be accomplished by the king, the Messiah; may he be revealed speedily, Amen, May it be G-d&#8217;s will.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>With this amazing statement<\/strong>,\u00a0Maimonides recounts an ancient tradition &#8211; that the tenth\u00a0red heifer\u00a0is associated with the Messianic era. Does this perhaps mean that the appearance of a\u00a0red heifer\u00a0in these waning end times is an indication, a forerunner of the appearance of the Messiah himself, who will officiate at its preparation?<\/p>\n<p><strong>If there has been no red heifer<\/strong>\u00a0for the past 2,000 years, perhaps it is because the time was not right; Israel was far from being ready. But now&#8230; what could it mean for the times we live in, to have the means for purification so close at hand? With the words of Maimonides in mind, we cannot help but wonder and pray: If there are now\u00a0red heifers&#8230; is ours the era that will need them?<\/p>\n<p><strong>On this note<\/strong>,\u00a0it is fitting that we pay particular attention to a\u00a0<em>Midrashic<\/em>\u00a0teaching:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Each day in the Holy Temple<\/strong>, the Levites sang a special daily song. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"bottom\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Levites stood atop the platform in that place of sublime inspiration and holiness for the last time, all of a moment they received the most profound flash of prophetic revelation&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"bottom\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>And they prophesied<\/strong>, they saw with perfect clarity of vision, that although the terrible destruction now loomed all around them on this Saturday evening, the continuation of their service would most certainly come about as well. The day would come when the Holy Temple would be rebuilt. Though it may be far off in the distance, it would certainly transpire, for it is a Divine promise&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"bottom\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>At that<\/strong>\u00a0moment they could see that it would truly come to be. The rebuilding would happen, even if it happens very slowly, and in stages, one step at a time. For like the morning dawn,\u00a0<i>&#8220;such is the way of Israel&#8217;s redemption. In the beginning, it progresses very slowly&#8230; but as it continues, it grows brighter and brighter.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"bottom\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>So too<\/strong>, the Levites perceived that the long process of Israel&#8217;s redemption, hinging on the rebuilding of the Holy Temple, would begin again on a Wednesday&#8230; thus they sang the song of Wednesday, for they sang not of destruction, or revenge, but of promise continuation, renewal and rebirth:<\/p>\n<p class=\"bottom\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The Levites<\/strong> saw that Jerusalem and the Temple Mount would stand desolate for nearly two millennia&#8230; but they would be regathered by Israel once again on a Wednesday: Wednesday, June 7th, 1967 was the day they saw. <a href=\"https:\/\/templeinstitute.org\/red-heifer-the-tenth-red-heifer\/\">https:\/\/templeinstitute.org\/red-heifer-the-tenth-red-heifer\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It should be noted that the Jews, of course, should accept Jesus as the Messiah. Jesus is not going to sacrifice a red heifer upon His return. Nor does the Old Testament, the Hebrew scriptures, teach that. This is another Jewish tradition that is not from the Bible. A <em>Midrashic<\/em> teaching is a Jewish tradition, not a biblical command.<\/p>\n<p>However, there is actually support in Jewish traditions, as well as from the Hebrew Bible, that Jesus is the Messiah. Is the claim in the <i>Jewish Encyclopedia of 1906<\/i> that \u201cthere appears to be no evidence of any Jewish conception of a Messiah suffering through and for his people\u201d true or misleading? What do Jewish writings, including those in the Babylonian Talmud (Mishnah and Gemara) and various Targums reveal? What about the Dead Sea Scrolls? Was the timing of Jesus\u2019 arrival and death consistent with any Jewish writings or records? Do any Jewish writings point to Jesus miraculously healing the sick? Do ancient Jewish writings tell of the Messiah who would offer Himself to take away the sins of Israel? Do Jewish writings tell of Messiah son of Joseph dying to later be resurrected? Do any Jewish writings point to Messiah son of David coming in the clouds, like 1 Thessalonians 4 does? Are there Jewish writings claimed to be related to the archangel Gabriel which tells of a resurrection after three days? If the Jews believed the Old Testament and certain of their writings, shouldn\u2019t they accept Jesus as the prophesied Messiah? (Hebrews 9:11-15)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yet, it is a fact that certain Jews believe that a red heifer must be sacrificed before daily sacrifices can be started.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, on 1 July 2025 there was a &#8216;practice&#8217; sacrifice of a red heifer. The Temple Institute issued a statement that it did not count for their purposes. That may or may not be the last ritually sanctified one. What does that mean? On 1 July 2025, a red heifer was sacrificed in Israel. Over ten gallons of ashes of that red heifer were reportedly collected. Some believe this sacrifice fulfilled the requirements in the Old Testament, whereas others said this was only a practice run. The Book of Numbers teaches that the ashes of red heifer are required to be added to the waters of purification for the purifying of sin. Certain Jews want the ashes for reasons including another temple and animal sacrifices, whereas others assert that the sacrifices can be resumed without a red heifer approved by the Temple Institute or the reconstituted Sanhedrin. \u201cSo what?\u201d you say? \u201cWho cares if some Jews want sacrifice animals again?\u201d, you ask? Well, what if animal sacrifices are prophesied to begin again prior to the return of Jesus Christ? Would that make a difference? If all prophecy must be fulfilled, and it must, could there be any connection to the ashes of a red heifer? Since the Temple Institute disqualified the red heifer that was sacrificed 1 July 2025 as being ceremonially disqualified because of 2 or 3 non-red hairs, could it change its mind? Would never accepting that sacrifice delay the return of our Messiah? After all, all prophecy must be fulfilled. Dr. Thiel contends that the position of the Temple Institute regarding a few non-red hairs, as well as its posted position that the Messiah would be the one to sacrifice the last red heifer, are simply not biblical. Dr. Thiel also points to the sacrifice of Jesus as eliminating the need for Christians to have the ashes of a red heifer for purification. So, now what? Why? Because the New Testament says the ashes of one are not needed for Christian redemption per Hebrews 9:13-15.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, biblically, we know that the daily animal sacrifices will be re-implemented by certain Jews as the prophet Daniel was inspired to numerous times that they would be stopped:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>9 And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Glorious Land. 10 And it grew up to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. 11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down. 12 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered.<\/p>\n<p>13 Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, \u201cHow long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>14 And he said to me, \u201cFor two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.\u201d\u00a0 (Daniel 8:9-14)<\/p>\n<p>27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;<br \/>\nBut in the middle of the week<br \/>\nHe shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering \u2026 (Daniel 9:27)<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-22068\">31\u00a0And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily <em>sacrifices,<\/em> and place <em>there<\/em> the abomination of desolation.<\/span> (Daniel 11:31)<\/p>\n<p>11 \u201cAnd from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.\u00a0 (Daniel 12:11)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, we see that after a deal is made, 3 1\/2 years later, sacrifices will be stopped. By who? Well, the \u201che\u201d above was called a \u201cprince\u201d in Daniel 9:26. He will become the King of the North Beast leader as discussed in Daniel 11:31, 40 and his forces will place an abomination when the sacrifices are stopped (Daniel 11:31). That placement is something that Jesus pointed to as a sign of the end in Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14.\u00a0 Since Daniel shows that those that wait the 1335 days are then blessed\u2013this looks to be a reference to Jesus returning and establishing the Kingdom of God a little less than four years after the daily sacrifices are stopped by the Beast!<\/p>\n<p>While the Temple Institute remains interested in having a red heifer, biblically, no red heifers are required (cf.
