Gold hit record highs in many currencies last year. But gold prices in US dollars have fluctuated in both directions in the past few weeks.<\/p>\n

This is not a surprise as in January I posted:<\/p>\n

Yes, in certain ways, gold is overvalued. … \u2013gold has hit daily record prices in US dollar terms over 50 times in 2025 (https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/markets\/commodities\/a-golden-run-after-60-surge-and-over-50-all-time-highs-this-year-whats-next-for-gold-in-2026\/articleshow\/125800646.cms?utm_source=chatgpt.com&from=mdr<\/a>). And despite ups and downs, that is not over. … But that does not mean that the price of gold cannot drop, and drop by a lot, for a time. (Thiel B. And while gold will hit record prices in US dollar terms, it can drop, and by a lot. It dropped by over $1000 dollars an ounce from its high this year.<\/p>\n

The Price of Gold is Less About Gold & More About the Erosion of the Dollar<\/h2>\n

\u00a0When currencies are printed without limit, the role of gold becomes simple: Protect purchasing power. The challenge is that most investors do not fully grasp what that means. A simple illustration helps.<\/div>\n

Imagine a closed system with 100 individuals and 100 apples. Each person also holds one gold coin and one dollar, each of which has the same value: Each coin or dollar can buy a single apple. Now, magically, double the number of dollars. At first, everyone feels richer, but nothing real has changed. There are still only 100 apples.<\/p>\n

Over time, due to this printing of dollars, behavior adjusts and prices rise. An apple that once cost one dollar now costs two. Wealth was not created. The value of each dollar was simply reduced. The gold coin, unchanged in supply, can still only buy a single apple \u2014 but is now worth two dollars. Gold maintains its purchasing power while the dollar has deteriorated in value. This is what gold is signaling today.<\/p>\n

The Flaw in Measuring Wealth<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Most investors measure their wealth in dollars, which is a flawed metric. A dollar is not a fixed unit of measurement; it changes over time. The data is clear: The U.S. money supply has grown from roughly $5.5 trillion in 2002 to $11 trillion in 2014, and now exceeds $22 trillion. It has doubled roughly every decade. The more dollars in existence, the less those dollars are worth over time. Yet portfolios, financial plans, and perceptions of wealth are still anchored to that moving target.<\/p>\n

The Illusion of Growth<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If a portfolio grows from $1 million to $2 million, it appears to have doubled. But if purchasing power has declined, the reality is very different. The true growth may be far less meaningful than it seems. …<\/p>\n

The Bigger Driver: Policy, Not Price<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The long-term case for gold is about structure, not momentum. Federal debt levels continue to rise, and the path of least resistance is for policymakers to debase our currency, which means paying off obligations over time with cheaper dollars. Gradual, persistent expansion of the money supply lowers the real burden of debt over time. Gold functions as the counterweight to that process. It is, effectively, the inverse of currency stability. …<\/p>\n

Gold … is reflecting something deeper: The expansion of money supply, the erosion of purchasing power, and the long-term consequences of policy decisions. The US dollar was once backed by gold.<\/p>\n

While gold (or any currency) can’t “save” an individual, gold is simply considered by some a more prudent form of currency, given the current international situations. There is a limited amount of available gold and if differs from cash and crypto currencies:<\/p>\n

Crypto has made its own place in the world by making an amazing leap forward as a medium of exchange, with thus far unrivaled capabilities. But crypto is not gold, and can never be gold. I suggest that BTC and Crypto are better as a medium of exchange, while gold is a better medium for storing value.<\/p>\n

This is not because of some dogma I have for the metal. Some will trot out \u201cyou are just talking your book\u201d when I mention this.<\/p>\n

The simple fact is, out of the near 185,000 tons of estimated above ground gold, someone owns, all of it<\/strong>. Every fine gram of gold above ground belongs to someone already, whether that be in the form of bars, coins, jewelry, the thin layer on astronauts helmets that protect them from solar radiation, or the gold plated contacts in the mining rigs used to mine crypto. New gold mined from the ground is usually spoken for before it ever hits a refinery. My job as a physical gold fund manager is not to convince people to buy gold, that job has already been done.<\/p>\n

The reason crypto can never replace gold lies in physics: Gold cannot be destroyed<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Everything else can. Computers. Exchanges. Mining Pools. Wallets. Powergrids. Internets. Nations. You name it. If you blew up the planet earth, the gold atoms would still be there.<\/p>\n

Unlike anything else you can invest or store money in, gold doesn\u2019t rely on any external force for this to continue to be true over time. It is sort of like a battery with no expiration date.<\/p>\n

Gold exists as atomic number 79 on the periodic table. It is chemically inert and does not interact with oxygen. It is the only element with properties that make it completely immune to the forces of entropy. The only way to destroy it would be to fire it into the sun, or somehow put it in the middle of an equivalent fusion reaction that took the atoms apart at a subatomic level. <\/strong>(Stanczyk A. 185,000 tons equates to less than one ounce of gold for every person on earth.<\/p>\n

Gold can be viewed as a “universally accepted” form of currency with a limited supply.<\/p>\n

The same cannot always be said of paper currency.<\/p>\n

The Bible prophesies that Babylonian King of the North European Beast power will control a lot of gold.<\/p>\n

The Bible shows that the USA will be destroyed in Daniel 11:39, and the power (the King of the North) that does it will value gold before and after that happens:<\/p>\n

36 “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. 37 He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. 38 But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. 39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.<\/p>\n

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels. (Daniel 11:36-44)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Because of those prophecies, I have asserted for many, many years, that gold will have value after the USA dollar is worthless.<\/p>\n

This does NOT mean that gold is always a great investment. But it does mean that gold will have value by the Europeans, at least, both before and after the USA–the power with the strongest fortresses in the 21st century, is conquered.<\/p>\n

At risk of partial repeat from some of Daniel 11, notice some end time prophecies that help show that gold will have value after the start of the Great Tribulation:<\/p>\n

40 “At the time of the end … 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver (Daniel 11:40,43)<\/p>\n

14… And the wealth of all the surrounding nations
\nShall be gathered together:
\nGold, silver, and apparel in great abundance. (Zechariah 14:14)<\/p>\n

12 … merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls … 16 … ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! (Revelation 18:12, 16)<\/p>\n

4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls (Revelation 17:4)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There are no similar statements backing up the future value of paper items, like the US dollar or the British pound (scripture, indirectly, teaches their elimination, for details see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel<\/a>). Daniel 11:24 shows that the leader mentioned in Daniel 11:40-43 will somehow also be accumulating wealth prior to this time, and that may involve gold accumulation (cf. Daniel 11:38). Perhaps to back up a European supported currency, he also may end up with personal and\/or national gold reserves and\/or wealth from the Vatican. The Vatican has a vast amount of wealth and is prophesied to be improperly involved with the kings of the earth in the end times per Revelation 17.<\/p>\n

Gold Backed Currency to Replace the US Dollar?<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

China introduced something that was called the gold-petro-yuan back in 2018. Since then, the global share of US dollar-dominated exchange reserves have dropped to 59.0%. In April 2021, China became the first major economy to unleash a Central Bank Digital Currency. China also has given its banks permission to import large amounts of gold. Is China preparing for a gold-backed yuan to push aside the US dollar or to help it survive a US dollar cataclysm? Are other nations preparing to push the US dollar aside? Do Europeans seem to have the most gold? Are Europeans prophesied to gain more gold? Is the US debt trajectory sustainable per Fed Chairman Jerome Powell? Does the Bible warn of the end coming to the highly indebted in Habakkuk 2:6-8? Why does it look like a gold-backed currency will replace the US dollar? It should be noted that one day, gold itself will be worthless.\u00a0Notice:<\/p>\n

19 They will throw their silver into the streets, And their gold will be like refuse<\/strong>; Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them In the day of the wrath of the Lord; They will not satisfy their souls, Nor fill their stomachs, Because it became their stumbling block of iniquity. (Ezekiel 7:19).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This is probably because gold and silver cannot be eaten (in times of massive and severe food shortages many people will not be interested in it) and because of the fact that if nuclear weapons are exploded, and people are ill or dying from radiation sickness, that they will not want to have gold near them. Notice the following Q&A:<\/p>\n

If exposed to radiation, does gold become radioactive?…<\/h3>\n

Gold has only one stable isotope, so all natural gold has an atomic weight of about 197 (called Au- 197), and this isotope has a reasonably high neutron activation cross- section. So exploding a nuclear weapon would probably lead to a lot of radioactive gold. However, there is only one isotope of gold that has a half-life of more than a few days (Au-195, 186 days), and it is impossible to produce this isotope by neutron irradiation. So any radioactive gold would lose its induced radioactivity within a month or so. Although a nuclear weapon is not a good way to turn gold radioactive, you should also consider that most gold deposits have only a few ounces of gold for each ton of rock that is mined. So setting off a nuclear weapon in the middle of a gold field could still be disruptive by turning much of the rest of the rock radioactive, making it difficult to mine. Radioactivity levels would probably be dangerous for a few weeks or so, but regulations would restrict access to this area for years or decades. Thus, although gold will have value for at least a couple of years after the start of the Great Tribulation, when times are bad enough and people are dying from and\/or are ill from radiation sickness, they may be inclined to throw gold into the streets (something similar seems also to be true about silver).<\/p>\n

But again, gold will have value after the US dollar is worthless.<\/p>\n

WWIII, Gold, and the Collapse of the Dollar<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Is World War Three coming soon? Changes in the world order are rare, history-defining events\u2014with massive implications, both geopolitical and financial. Is owning gold by Christians for the unexpected as Joel Rosenberg has publicly stated or, perhaps, for those who believe biblical prophecies, for the expected? Will the US Dollar collapse? In a word, yes. Could the USA be the highly indebted nation that Habakkuk 2:6-8 refers to? WWIII will mean the end of the USA dollar when that nation is conquered per Daniel 11:39, whereas gold will continue to have value per Daniel 11:43 and the 18th chapter of the Book of Revelation. Prophecy indicates that the massive debt of the USA will result in the take over of the USA (Habakkuk 2). While gold will continue to have value after the destruction of the US Dollar, we should not put our confidence in either. Will gold one day be worthless? Put your confidence in God and His Word. Seek first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Gold may go further down, but it is not out. As biblical prophecies show, gold will have value years after the US and its dollar are gone.<\/p>\n

So, yes, the price of gold will fluctuate. Yet the time is coming that the US dollar will be worth no more than the cotton-type paper it is printed on.<\/p>\n
