It is taught that since the Middle Ages, Germany has had three reichs (reich literally means rich, but in this context means reigns), beginning with the so-called ‘Holy Roman Empire’ 800-1806, the second reich being the German Empire of 1871\u20131918, and then the third reich under Adolf Hitler from 1933\u20131945.<\/p>\n

Some have wondered if there will be a fourth reich.<\/p>\n

On June 26, 2026, a reader sent me a link to a 2004 book written by Harry Beckhough titled Germany’s Four Reichs, Origins and Development seeking World Domination<\/em> in ruthless terror. Here are some excerpts:<\/p>\n

This book reveals that inherited desire for domination which has been Germany’s major characteristic through major wars and battles over the centuries, invariably ending in chaos, …<\/p>\n

My reason for this direct entry into the ongoing debate on the European Union and its origins, is the strength of my personal knowledge and factual experience of Germany over many years. Added to my own research into the eternally aggressive intent of the German mindset, lust after power and domination of all Europe, East and West, and beyond, from the Atlantic to the Urals. A way of thinking, planning, plotting and lying deception, foreign to the British way of life, and unthinkable to our trusting nature.<\/p>\n

As a language student in Germany, I witnessed Hitler’s meteoric vault to power in 1933, snatching victory from Von Papen, originally chosen as worthy successor by Hindenburg. Then Hitler’s hysterical, aggressive speeches, provoking the savage assaults by his brutal, bullying Nazi Brownshirts, and even more menacing cold-blooded, merciless behaviour of his chosen bodyguard, the black-clad SS executioners. I was dismayed to hear German philosophers like Heidegger at Freiburg University, and the Cologne Professor of Philosophy, writing and speaking in praise of Hitler, almost as a Wagnerian warlike hero.<\/p>\n

After return home, I had the privilege of personal discussions with Winston Churchill, then Chancellor of Bristol University, who presented me personally with my degrees. …<\/p>\n

The First Reich.<\/strong> …<\/p>\n

Charlemagne (Charles the Great 771-843), heir to Pepin, marched into Italy in 774 to protect the Pope, who was under attack from angry dissenters. … In 800 Charlemagne was officially welcomed to Rome and crowned Emperor by the grateful Pope Leo III, in St. Peters, on Christmas Day. Thus the old Roman imperial title was revived and conferred on Charlemagne, by this Pope.<\/p>\n

He became, therefore, Founder and First Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, and subjugated by Blut und Stahl (blood and steel), every German tribe to Roman Catholicism, except the hardy Saxons, who refused. …<\/p>\n

Germany’s Second Reich.<\/strong> …<\/p>\n

The Napoleonic Wars brought the end of the Holy Roman Empire, 1806, and forced German states to implement social, political and administrative reforms. The Congress of Vienna, 1814, saw the map of Europe and Germany redrawn. The 39 resultant German states were united within the German Confederation, dominated by Austria led by Metternich who, with wide-spread espionage and rigid censorship, opposed the movement for German national unification. But the Habsburg monarchy (1815-48), brought about the real unification of Germany. …<\/p>\n

Germany’s Third Reich.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hitler’s National Socialist Party emerged in 1930, in their military style uniforms, gaining popular support and 107 seats at Election. … In 1933 Hitler assumed power, making his first oratorical, impassioned speeches, which I heard whilst on Student Course at Freiburg. In
\n1934 he declared himself “President of the German Third Reich” to general acclaim, with full martial panoply and theatrical display. …<\/p>\n

Hitler wrote Mein Kampf in prison. He had visions of himself as the German Messiah, with a mandate to lead his people to conquer Europe, possibly the whole world. Benito Mussolini named his r\u00e9gime “The Holy Roman Empire.” Hitler also saw his Third Reich as the “Holy Roman Empire.” Both r\u00e9gimes were born of the devil. Hitler said “We are not a movement, rather we are a religion – I’m going to become a religious figure.” …<\/p>\n

The Vatican besought God’s blessing on the Reich, with Church and State co-operating. German bishops were ordered to swear allegiance to the Nazi regime. Hitler actually believed that the Germans were God’s chosen people, selected for aggressive expansion to
\nrule over all people – quite manic. But the Nazis turned to paganism …<\/p>\n

Hitler committed suicide in his Berlin bunker, May 1945.<\/p>\n

The Nazis were totally defeated and disgraced, but not finished.<\/p>\n

The Fourth Reich – The New Beginning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So it continues: after each defeat, they are already at work, preparing for the next aggression. Their nature never changes, as has been stated by Churchill, Nietzsche and others, as is now, once again, clearly apparent. Those who scuttled, built new international offices in Madrid, and began plans for a new approach to their continuing plan to conquer Europe. This time with the major difference that, after so many repeated military defeats (especially from the stubborn British and American Allies), they sought a different tack, first by economic means, with the provided EU set-up already to hand, to be taken over and used for their purpose. Under the cloak of European Union they could weave new plans for domination of all Europe.<\/p>\n

In 1941 Walter Funk, Hilter’s economics Minister, launched Europ\u00e4ische Wirtschafts Gemeinschaft (European Economic Community) – to establish a single European currency, the Reichsmark. Plus the integration of all European economy into a “Single Market.” Also the Trans European Network (TERN). The creation of a “Common Agricultural Policy” (CAP) was based on the mode of European agriculture, protected by subsidies and high tariffs, keeping prices artificially high for the benefit, principally, of French and German small farmers.<\/p>\n

This Franco-German benefit was later enshrined, post-war, under Article 39 of the Treaty of Rome. Similar to the later Maastricht Treaty of GEU, with a PanEuropean Bank (Bank Europa) created and run by Germany.<\/p>\n

This, then, was the embryo Nazi plan for the future of greater Europe, all combined under the sole command of the master, ‘Aryan’ superior German Superstate, cum dictatorship. …<\/p>\n

Arthur Spiegelman reported: “Realising they were losing the War in 1944, Nazi leaders met major German industrialists to plan a secret, post-war network to restore them to power” (extract from a newly classified U.S. document). Krupp and others were told to be prepared to finance the Underground Nazi Continuance Party to create a future, strong German Empire. “Over 500 million dollars were transferred out of Germany – to lay the foundation for future reemergence.”<\/p>\n

This document was concealed from the American and British people. The U.S. Intelligence Agencies made the deadly error of inaction, instead of immediate exposure of the truth, to kill off these Nazi carefully prepared forward plans, already activated. What reason could they have had – a mistrust of their own people? Whilst the Allies were planning to preserve the peace of the world, the Germans were already contriving to win the Battle of the Peace. They never desist in their aggressive attempt to dominate first Europe, and then the World. …<\/p>\n

Jean Monnet … believed strongly in the total unity of European states, adapting the Loucheur-Mayrich earliest functionalist model of 1925, – followed by the 1926 International Steel Agreement, an earlier model (forerunner of ECSC) set up after WWI. They seem to have cast the original mould, from which eventually developed EU, but not in their conception. …<\/p>\n

The Plot Continues.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Treaty of Rome (1957) was carefully constructed on functional lines, for future transmission to a supernational authority. First cunningly known as the Common Market – acceptable to all, believing it to be a straight forward trading agreement. The Nazis used the rhetoric of ‘European Unity’. …<\/p>\n

So real birth of EU was post WWI, as we have seen, but made little progress in the difficult after-war years of the 1920s and 1930s. …<\/p>\n

Inter-European unity has been long sought by the Habsburg dynasty. Otto compared the similarities of the Holy Roman Empire of the Middle Ages with his own views on a destined United States of Europe. …<\/p>\n

As the USSR faded into history, overtaken by the new KGB dictatorship, Germany, under its EU cloak, was already on its planned path to overtake America, with the size and growth of its extended economic values. …<\/p>\n

Now German EU originally favoured, trusted and assisted by America, grows steadily stronger, militarily and economically – posing future menace, led by Germany already seeking to undermine America in every way. …<\/p>\n

The euro and the projected European Army (of envisaged great strength), are important major steps in the creation of the planned corporatist, anti-democratic, anti-nation state power, based on German Europe, as the EU Constitution of a Superstate, to compete against American global strength and world authority. Always the great competitive target for globally ambitious Germany. …<\/p>\n

Nazi policymakers’ objective was to establish a new European Union on Federalist basis – following Lenin’s thesis: “Federation is a traditional form towards complete union of all nations” – under their domination.<\/p>\n

Objective: turn EU into a community of related peoples, with the final aim of creating a new German Reich. Then abandon the euro for Deutschmark for ALL EU. With EU thus dependent on Germany, economically and politically, with the European Central Bank in Frankfurt giving financial control. So, European unity is something that various ones who are pushing for a fourth reich want. Whether of not the euro will be abandoned for the Deutschmark some have long considered the euro really is a form of the Deutschmark.<\/p>\n

Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party did well in the country’s recent state elections, and has been on the rise for years. Some fear Germany could be at risk of reverting back to its dark Nazi past.<\/p>\n

The development has triggered comparisons to the rise of Hitler – it was in Thuringia that the Nazis first entered a regional government, just three years before Hitler took power nationwide. …<\/p>\n

But is the Germany of 2024 really comparable to that of 1933? … Back then, neo-Nazis wanted to make the small town of Langen in Hesse the first “foreigner-free\u201d town in Germany. After German reunification in 1990, right-wing extremist groups also became increasingly influential in East Germany. Is the AfD’s election success a further step in the growth of the far-right in Germany and a threat to democracy? https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/could-rise-of-german-right-lead-country-back-to-nazi-era\/video-70427257<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Germany has allowed in many foreigners and many in Germany want them gone. This is a bit different than in 1933, but in many ways because of the recent throngs of Muslim immigrants, some see this as worse.<\/p>\n

As far as repeating its Nazi past goes, that was long the view of the old Radio Church of God:<\/p>\n

At a rally of<\/em> 500 in 1958, in the<\/em> city of<\/em> Munich, former SS Colonel Julius Zuchbold addressed his old Nazi cronies with this summation of<\/em> the<\/em> present German situation: “We do not intend to go to sleep. We will stay alert and<\/em> exploit all rights and<\/em> privileges which the<\/em> democratic system offers to us. Yet we will be a power WHENEVER WE DECIDE TO BECOME A POWER!” (The<\/em> New Germany and<\/em> the<\/em> Old Nazi, by T. H. Tetens, page 80.) <\/span><\/p>\n

Just as Gehlen’s intelligence agents were asked to go underground and<\/em> later brought out to apparently serve the<\/em> West, every other phase of<\/em> German activity has followed the<\/em> same pattern.’ The<\/em> Krupps and<\/em> the<\/em> Flicks are back in German industry, the<\/em> Hermann Abs and<\/em> Robert Pferdmenges are back in German banking, Dr. Hans Globke, one of<\/em> Hitler’s chief assistants, is the<\/em> right-hand man of<\/em> Dr. Adenauer in the<\/em> present German government!<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/em> situation is summed up by Mr. William L. Shirer \u2014 author of<\/em> The<\/em> Rise and<\/em> Fall of<\/em> the<\/em> Third Reich \u2014 stated in an address in Seattle on April 12, 1961, “The<\/em> vast majority (in a poll taken in Germany) said that Nazism was a GOOD IDEA, only badly carried out. Their comment was that, ‘It lost the<\/em> war for us! The<\/em> memory of<\/em> Hiller is far from bad and<\/em> far from dead.” …<\/span><\/p>\n

As long ago as January 1960 Dr. Adenauer on a state visit to Italy told the<\/em> Pope, “I believe that God has given the<\/em> German people in these calamitous times a special task. We are the<\/em> GUARDIANS OF<\/em> THE<\/em> WEST against any mighty force which would descend upon our lines from the<\/em> East.” …<\/span><\/p>\n

“Fascism in Europe is about to be reborn in respectable business attire, and<\/em> the<\/em> Treaty of<\/em> Rome will finally be implemented to its fullest extent.. the<\/em> dream of<\/em> a Holy Roman, Empire returning to power to dominate and<\/em> direct the<\/em> so-called forces of<\/em> Christian mankind of<\/em> the<\/em> Western world is not dead, but still stalks through the<\/em> antechambers of<\/em> every national capital of<\/em> continental Western Europe… IN THE<\/em> DETERMINATION OF<\/em> THE<\/em> LEADERS IN THE<\/em> COMMON MARKET NATIONS TO RESTORE THE<\/em> HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE WITH ALL THAT THAT MEANS!” (Northwest Technocrat, Vol. XXV, No. 205.) <\/span><\/p>\n

United within the<\/em> ancient boundaries of<\/em> the<\/em> Holy Roman Empire; united by the<\/em> common spiritual bond of<\/em> universal Catholicism; united in a burgeoning and<\/em> booming industrial economy that dominates today’s world; united geographically in the<\/em> most productive and<\/em> industrial complex of<\/em> all the<\/em> earth \u2014 at least TEN NATIONS OF<\/em> MODERN EUROPE WILL MARCH ONTO THE<\/em> SCENE OF<\/em> WORLD HISTORY AS THE<\/em> GREATEST SINGLE HUMAN FORCE EVER SEEN BY MAN! <\/span><\/p>\n

Well, since that article came out, we have the European Union which has come out of the old ‘Treaty of Rome’ and it basically comprises most of the area of the old ‘Holy Roman Empire’–and it includes a political alignment with what was then considered to be the Soviet East. Notice also something about Germany’s history published back in 1985 by the old Worldwide Church of God:<\/p>\n

In 1933 Adolf Hitler, using Germany’s growing economic crisis as a stepping-stone to power, gained control of Germany, inaugurating the Third Reich of German history.

It quickly became clear that Hitler’s geopolitical aims far transcended his own country’s borders. Hitler held an unshakable conviction that his German Reich would one day rule all of Europe \u2014 and from there seize the leadership of the world! He dreamed of a “new world order” that would remake the political face of the earth, with himself at its helm.

Could there be some type of a ‘fourth reich’ this century to follow the ‘third reich’ of last century?<\/p>\n

The old Radio Church of God thought so:<\/p>\n

The “German Problem” is not dead. Germans are thinking more than ever of an undivided Reich – and of an undivided Europe! … On the 17th of June, Germans celebrated a national holiday a day dedicated to AN UNDIVIDED GERMANY. Stores closed. No one worked. The striking thing is that this day signifies something that has not happened yet! Most holidays commemorate an event – something that has already taken place. Not this one – it looks forward to an event which all Germans hope for and even pray for – AN UNDIVIDED GERMANY! (Kelly R. The March for an Undivided Germany. Plain Truth, September 1964)

Well, since that came out, East and West Germany united, the European Union formed, and a European currency has been implemented.<\/p>\n

So, is a ‘fourth reich’ in the process of forming? Some in Germany and elsewhere seem to think so.<\/p>\n

People have even begun talking about the “Fourth Reich,” a reference to the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler. That may sound absurd given that today’s Germany is a successful democracy without a trace of national-socialism — and that no one would actually associate Merkel with Nazism. But further reflection on the word “Reich,” or empire, may not be entirely out of place. The term refers to a dominion, with a central power exerting control over many different peoples. According to this definition, would it be wrong to speak of a German Reich in the economic realm? …<\/p>\n

A heavy accusation has been levelled at Germany — by some in Greece, in Spain and in France but also by some in Great Britain and in the United States. The euro crisis, a certain breed of politicians, journalists and economists argue, has allowed Germany to dominate Southern Europe and to suffocate it in order to impose its principles even as its export policy has meant that the country has profited from that same currency crisis more than any other country. Germany’s image in some countries has become one of an egotistical economic occupier flanked by smaller Northern European countries from the same mold. …<\/p>\n

‘The Blood of Our People’<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fear of German hegemony in Europe is likely nowhere so great as it is in France, which was at least partially occupied by its neighbor three times during an 80-year period. In recent years, “Germanophobia” has increased dramatically across the political spectrum, from Front National to the leftist wing of the governing Socialists. That has partially served to distract attention from political leaders’ own failures to implement reform, but they are nonetheless sentiments that deserve to be taken seriously.<\/p>\n

The leftist French intellectual Emmanuel Todd warns that Germany is “increasingly pursuing politics of power and of hidden expansion.” Europe, he says, is being ruled by a Germany which, in its past, has constantly fluctuated between reason and megalomania. Since reunification, Todd says, Germany has brought a huge area of Eastern Europe under its control, a region once under the influence of the Soviets, to use it for its own economic aims.<\/p>\n

In Athens, in a building belonging to the Ministry of Culture, Nikos Xydakis, deputy culture minister for the Syriza government, echoes the sentiment.<\/p>\n

“It is as though my country were experiencing the consequences of war,” he says. European savings policies have ruined Greece, he says: “We have lost a quarter of our gross domestic product and a quarter of our population is unemployed.” Furthermore, he said, Greece didn’t ask for emergency loans, they were forced upon the country together with the cost-cutting program. “Now we are paying with the blood of our people.”<\/p>\n

Germany, he says, has become too powerful in Europe. The country, he concedes, is a leader both politically and economically. “But those wanting to be a leader have to behave like one too.” Germany, he says, should be more generous and stop viewing weaker countries in Europe as its inferiors. …<\/p>\n

Since the turn of the millennium, Germany’s trade surplus has almost quadrupled and now stands at \u20ac217 billion ($236.4 billion). With France alone, the surplus was \u20ac30 billion in 2014. Even if exports to euro-zone member states dropped as a result of the crisis, no other country in the world has a trade surplus as large as Germany’s. Why is that? Is it because of aggressive trade policy? …<\/p>\n

Germany seeks to be an economic power, but not a military one. Its nationalism is based on economic output and export statistics, not on a desire to become a geo-political power. Many in Europe are concerned that Germany is simply too big of an economic power. However, without the economic might of Germany, the European Union would have even more difficulties sticking together.<\/p>\n

Now, the idea that Germany does not want to be a military power is simply not the case (see Germany Defence Minister makes the case for rebuilding a stronger German military<\/a>). Furthermore, Germany has publicly committed to spend more money on its military than any nation in Europe–including Russia (watch Is the European Beast Growing Horns?<\/a>).<\/p>\n

This does not mean that everyone in Germany wants it to militarily dominate the world, but Bible prophecy shows that deep down, those there do want to dominate.<\/p>\n

Notice the following prophecy:<\/p>\n

5 \u201cWoe to Assyria, the rod of My anger
\nAnd the staff in whose hand is My indignation.
\n6 I will send him against an ungodly nation,
\nAnd against the people of My wrath
\nI will give him charge,
\nTo seize the spoil, to take the prey,
\nAnd to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
\n7 Yet he does not mean so,<\/strong>
\n Nor does his heart think so;<\/strong>
\n But it is in his heart to destroy,<\/strong>
\n And cut off not a few nations<\/strong>.
\n8 For he says,
\n\u2018Are not my princes altogether kings? (Isaiah 10:5-8)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Notice that the leader of the final empire will not think that he wants to destroy nations, but he really does, and really will.<\/p>\n

Notice that Isaiah tells of a time when the end time Assyrian power will be sent against an ungodly (NKJV), \u201chypocritical\u201d (KJV) nation. The Hebrew word used signifies being \u201csoiled\u201d or impious, and certainly that is now the case for the nation known as the United States. The Snowden leaks of USA espionage have enraged the Germans.<\/p>\n

Not only do they feel that the USA has been hypocritical here, they were outraged to learn that according to leaked documents from the National Security Agency (NSA), Germany was one of the most spied upon nations by the USA. Another NSA document said that the only nations that the USA considered to be \u201cclose friends\u201d that did not warrant extensive USA espionage was the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand\u2014the Anglo-Saxon-Celtic dominated lands. Germany and others have noticed this and will take steps against them later (cf. Daniel 11:39; Psalm 83:-3-8). And then there is German distaste of US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

Here is some other information related to a possible fourth reich:<\/p>\n

In \u201cThe Fourth Reich: The Specter of Nazism from World War II to the Present,\u201d historian Gavriel D. Rosenfeld brings his counterfactual \u201cwhat if\u201d approach to the idea of a new empire based on Nazi ideals. … \u201cThe case of postwar Germany makes it clear that western fears about a Nazi return to power were far from unfounded and that the concerns about a Fourth Reich served a useful function in making people vigilant about defending against such a possibility,\u201d said Rosenfeld in an exchange with The Times of Israel.\u00a0 …<\/p>\n

In Rosenfeld\u2019s assessment, today the idea of a Fourth Reich has entered an unprecedented heyday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Fourth Reich is currently experiencing a new phase of normalization,\u201d wrote Rosenfeld, whose latest book was published in March. \u201cThanks to the tumultuous political upheaval throughout the western world, the concept is becoming increasingly universalized. The election of Donald Trump, the many unending conflicts in the Middle East, and the continuing crisis of the European Union have made the prospect of a future Reich highly relevant.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Europe, according to Rosenfeld, the prospect of a Fourth Reich is raised by European Union critics on both the Left and Right: Some claim Germany has turned the EU into a kind of economic Reich. https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/siren-call-of-a-fourth-reich-is-spreading-warns-nazi-germany-expert\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Some of us \u2014 and I plead guilty to this \u2014 have used the term simply to describe the present German state in its reunified, Europe-dominating form. While of course such usage is a bit of a tease, it also seems to be a matter of fact. As Professor Rosenfeld reminds us, \u2018Reich\u2019 in German means \u2018realm\u2019 or, as we would probably say today, \u2018polity\u2019. And so since the two fractured pieces of Germandom were put back together in 1990, what we have the other side of Holland is the Fourth Reich. Although Hitler\u2019s Third Reich collapsed almost 75 years ago, its successor \u2013 the Fourth Reich \u2013 is alive and well. That, at least, is the claim of some European and US journalists, politicians and other activists, who, in recent years, have used the phrase to attack opponents. …<\/p>\n

Today, the idea of the Fourth Reich is synonymous with resurgent Nazism, but it is more ominous than \u2018neo-Nazi\u2019, as it designates something actual rather than merely aspirational. What exactly is the ‘fourth reich’? Notice one interpretation:<\/p>\n

The Fourth Reich<\/strong> (German: Viertes Reich<\/em>) is a theoretical future German empire, following the First Reich (the Holy Roman Empire, 962\u20131806), the Second Reich (Imperial Germany, 1871\u20131918) and the Third Reich (Nazi Germany, 1933\u20131945). Some believe that Germany already has had a type of fourth reich as it has been able to dominate European matters at least for the past decade or so.<\/p>\n

Biblically, the final European<\/a> King of the North<\/a> will lead a revived ‘Holy Roman Empire.’ This will be the empire of the Beast power of Revelation 13. This new world order, which will have German dominance, will in a sense be its fourth militaristic reich (reich means reign).<\/p>\n

The Bible tells of a time when a European power will defeat many (Daniel 11:39-43) and also dominate the world economically (Revelation 18). Germany will be a major factor in this although there will be problems in Europe (Daniel 2:41-43), after some reorganizations it will arise (Revelation 17:12-13).<\/p>\n

A ‘fourth reich’ is in the process of being made, but it is not here yet. But something that can be called that will arrive.<\/p>\n
