Therefore, we continue to strive for consensus wherever possible,&#8221; the countries say in a letter addressed to High Representative Kaja Kallas and seen by Euronews.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But we must also ensure that this culture of consensus fosters common action rather than preventing it \u2013 otherwise we will have legitimacy but no strength.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Austria, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Sweden signed the letter. Germany, the largest member state,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2026\/05\/07\/germany-calls-for-end-to-eu-unanimity-rule-to-stop-decision-making-standstill\"><strong>has been leading calls<\/strong><\/a> to reform the bloc&#8217;s foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Union&#8217;s external action faces a fundamentally changed landscape, shaped by strategic competition, growing instability and attempts to undermine the rules-based international order,&#8221; they write in the document, also sent to those member states who did not sign.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In this environment, the Union&#8217;s ability to defend its values and interests hinges on whether it can mobilise its collective political, economic and diplomatic weight quickly and effectively.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Under EU rules, foreign policy is strictly governed by unanimity, which means one single country can, at any time, tie the hands of the other 26 member states. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Proponents say it would speed up decision-making and avoid unnecessary vetoes, while opponents say it would undermine democratic legitimacy. Small member states consider the veto a useful last-resort tool to defend their views and interests against the heft of larger members. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2026\/09\/01\/11-eu-countries-demand-end-to-obstructive-vetoes-on-foreign-policy\">https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2026\/09\/01\/11-eu-countries-demand-end-to-obstructive-vetoes-on-foreign-policy<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is interesting that this was released after the Iceland vote. Iceland voted Sunday to not pursue EU membership, and concerns about Iceland&#8217;s ability to stop the EU from implementing policies it did not want was a major factor. And the letter demanding the end of &#8216;obstructive&#8217; vetoes shows that Iceland likely would have less ability to influence the EU once a member.<\/p>\n<p>That said, a\u00a0few months back,\u00a0<em>ZeroHedge<\/em> posted the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"ArticleFull_title__ucBVR\">Europe 2.0, Beyond Brussels: The End Of The European Union As We Know It<\/h2>\n<p>June 7, 2026<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-article-content js-article-content\">\n<p><strong>Europe has reached the end of an era.\u00a0Not the end of its history, but the end of its false form.\u00a0<\/strong>For decades, the European Union served as the great substitute project of a continent that no longer dared to think politically. It grows out of peoples, interests, borders, loyalties, and the willingness to defend what is one\u2019s own. &#8230; <\/strong> today\u2019s EU is not the high point of European history but its bureaucratic state of exhaustion. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>There is a name for this kind of governance: the administrative state<\/strong>\u2014the permanent, unelected layer that survives every election, answers to no voter, and grows whether the public wants it to or not. Brussels is that layer raised to\u00a0the\u00a0continental power and freed from even the inconvenience of a national electorate. There is no European\u00a0demos\u00a0to vote the managers out. That is not a flaw in the design. It is the design.<\/p>\n<p>The real scandal of Europe today is not even its material mismanagement but its intellectual arrogance. The Union behaves as though it could suspend history\u2014as though cultures could be harmonized like technical standards, as though political loyalty could be decreed the way one issues a packaging regulation. As though a continent of radically different historical experiences, economic structures, demographic trajectories, and security realities could be pressed into one standardized form without damage. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Europe should no longer be conceived as a project of uniformity but as a system of differentiated political spaces.<\/strong> This is not a regression into petty-state fragmentation. It is the overdue recognition of European reality. The continent has always been most productive when it combined diversity with form\u2014when its political units stayed manageable, legitimate, and capable of acting, and broader cooperation happened only where it genuinely made sense. It grew weak whenever it manufactured institutions that produced neither real sovereignty nor genuine belonging.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A new Europe would therefore\u00a0begin with a ruthless disentangling.<\/strong> &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>What follows from all\u00a0this\u00a0is a single European principle: <strong>cooperation without fusion.<\/strong> Proximity without centralism. Continentality without empire. Europe would\u00a0no longer be a union of ideological conformity but a confederation of historic peoples and political spaces\u2014able to breathe again because not everything would have to be forced to the same institutional, economic, and moral temperature. In place of harmonization at any price: the freedom to shape one\u2019s own order.\u00a0In place of integration as an end in itself:\u00a0cooperation grounded in shared interests. In place of a normative superstate: a Europe of different speeds, forms, and focal points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And that, precisely, is the only road to genuine European sovereignty. <\/strong>Europe will not become sovereign because Brussels accumulates more powers. It will become sovereign only when its states and peoples recover real political substance and form alliances on that basis. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The time of the Union as we know it is running out.\u00a0<\/strong>The only question is whether Europe will shape this transition itself\u2014or whether it will be torn apart by the contradictions of its own artificial construction and have its place in the world decided by others.<\/p>\n<p>The alternative is clearer than many care to admit:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Either Europe becomes political again &#8211; or it remains an apparatus until other powers decide its place in the world. <\/strong><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/geopolitical\/europe-20-beyond-brussels-end-european-union-we-know-it\">https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/geopolitical\/europe-20-beyond-brussels-end-european-union-we-know-it<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes, the EU needs to change.<\/p>\n<p>And actually, in certain ways, it is.<\/p>\n<p>It is making more trade deals, which are consistent with its prophesied role to dominate world trade for a time (cf. Taking control of a state government would be the biggest prize in the party\u2019s 13-year history, a political shock to Germany and at least a symbolic blow to Merz. <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/germany-saxony-anhalt-election-far-right-afd-3162fbdd71e6f745eeb239e294c15548\">https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/germany-saxony-anhalt-election-far-right-afd-3162fbdd71e6f745eeb239e294c15548<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Marine Le Pen is a member of France\u2019s National Rally party \u2014 Rassemblement National (RN). Which, like the nationalist AfD, is also an anti-immigrant party.<\/p>\n<p>Europe is prophesied to reorganize, but not the way that the June 2026 <em>ZeroHedge<\/em> article points to as &#8220;the only road.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The article overlooked biblical prophecies which show what will happen to Europe as well as part of how, and put into power a dictator.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible shows that the time will come when Europe will reorganize and turn power over to a dictator called the beast below:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>12 \u201cThe ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And we see that this Beast will arise with support of ten who will have been given power in a reorganization. These ten kings have no kingdom, but are to attain one. Thus, this is not discussing ten currently existing nations&#8211;this is a type of reorganization in verse 12. And basically a type of major or great reset (see also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/great-reset-prophecy.htm\">Is a Great Reset Coming?<\/a>). Since those kings give their power to the Beast in verse 13, this is a second reorganization. The Beast is the one who was the prince of Daniel 9:26 (see also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cogwriter.com\/daniel-9-27-deal.htm\">The &#8216;Peace Deal&#8217; of Daniel 9:27<\/a>).\u00a0<span class=\"style41\">He is also the seventh king of Revelation 17:10, and becomes so with the fulfillment of Revelation 17:13.<\/span>\u00a0As far as the identity of the sixth king of Revelation 17:10, check out the article:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/europe-king-was-is-not.htm\">The European Union and the Seven Kings of Revelation 17<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also the biblical fact that these \u2018kings\u2019 had no kingdom prior to becoming kings also helps prove that this is not a reference to ten currently existing nations. Furthermore, the term translated in English as &#8220;kingdoms&#8221; from the Greek in Revelation 17:12,\u00a0<em>basile\u00edn<\/em>\u00a0(Greek characters \u03b2\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03bb\u03b5\u00ed\u03b1\u03bd), means &#8220;royal administrations&#8221; (Ibid, pp. 168-169) is not specifically referring to existing nations.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, groups like <a href=\"\/pcg.htm\">PCG<\/a> and <a href=\"\/ylcg.htm\">LCG<\/a>, which have tended to assert 10 or 11 currently existing nations are wrong.<\/p>\n<p>An Eastern Orthodox writer seems to agree that it is not ten currently nations as he wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Therefore\u00a0\u00a0perhaps\u00a0\u00a0we\u00a0\u00a0should see in the ten kingdoms\u00a0<em>ten provinces of the future world government<\/em>, \u201cthe New World Order\u201d, which is to be ruled by the Antichrist. (Moss V. APOCALYPSE -THE BOOK OF THE END. 2018, p. 172)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the Book of Revelation, let&#8217;s look at the following verses which precede the reorganization:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.<\/p>\n<p>9 &#8220;Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. 10 There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come.
