King Charles III (White House photo)<\/em><\/p>\n COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n Even though the government of Jamaica is seeking to become a republic without accepting the British throne, it sent a request for reparations to King Charles III:<\/p>\n September 7, 2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Jamaica is taking its campaign for Britain to pay reparations for the ravages of the trans-Atlantic slave trade to King Charles III.<\/p>\n Using legal traditions that stretch back to the early days of the British Empire, Jamaica petitioned the king on Monday to refer a series of questions about slavery, and the U.K.\u2019s responsibility to pay damages, to a committee of the Privy Council, which serves as the highest court for former colonies that retain ties to the British legal system.<\/p>\n While the petition is formally addressed to the king, Charles has no personal say on whether it will be referred to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, and he will act on the advice of the government.<\/p>\n The filing was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the day in 1781 when the Liverpool-registered ship Zong set sail from West Africa with 442 enslaved Africans on board. When water supplies ran low on the way to Jamaica, the crew decided to throw 132 men, women and children overboard, calculating that it would be more profitable to file an insurance claim for the lost \u201cproperty\u201d than to sell their weakened and dehydrated captives for a reduced price. …<\/p>\n Jamaica is a leader of the effort to get Britain and\u00a0other European nations<\/a><\/span>\u00a0to apologize for their role in the\u00a0trans-Atlantic slave trade and pay reparations,<\/a><\/span>\u00a0both for the enslavement of individuals and for the continuing impact on their descendants around the world.\u00a0Jamaica said the Caribbean Community<\/a><\/span>, which includes 23 states from the Bahamas to Guyana, endorsed the petition.<\/p>\n Although he has stopped short of endorsing reparations, the king has repeatedly expressed his personal commitment to addressing the historic wrongs of slavery.\u00a0In a 2024 speech to leaders<\/a><\/span>\u00a0of the Commonwealth, the voluntary association of countries that succeeded the British Empire, Charles said that the\u00a0\u201cmost painful aspects of our past continue to resonate.\u201d<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNone of us can change the past,\u201d he added. \u201cBut we can commit, with all our hearts, to learning its lessons and to finding creative ways to right inequalities that endure.\u201d<\/p>\n Buckingham Palace said Monday that it has been working closely with the governor-general of Jamaica, the king\u2019s representative on the island who is appointed on the advice of the Jamaican government, to ensure the petition is \u201cproperly lodged.\u2019’<\/p>\n While acknowledging that slavery was \u201cabhorrent,\u201d the British government has so far rejected demands for either an apology or reparations. …<\/p>\n Craig Prescott, an expert on constitutional law and the monarchy at Royal Holloway, University of London, said the move was \u201cquite clever\u201d because it seeks to use an obscure constitutional procedure to address one of the biggest issues in Jamaican society. …<\/p>\n \u201cI think, at the very least, the board will look at this with a skeptical eye, not because of questions of whether slavery is wrong or right or otherwise, but just this is a very peculiar legal procedure that is sort of just one on the statute books that rears its head from time to time.\u201d<\/p>\n But rejection of the petition could still be a win for Jamaica.<\/p>\n Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced plans\u00a0to sever ties with the British crown<\/a><\/span> and transform his country into a republic. https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/britain-jamaica-slavery-king-charles-iii-38a8dd0a5809edf44cbf0a87a8a7b176<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n After seeing the headline and before reading the entire article, I suspected that one likely reason for this request was to boost support from breaking away from the British crown if it were to be rejected. Many in Jamaica have wanted to break away from the British crown for years (see\u00a0\u2018Jamaica to remove ties to monarchy as soon as William and Kate leave, sources say\u2019<\/a>).<\/p>\n If Jamaica does this, it will basically be following the lead of Barbados that left in November 2021 (see Barbados becomes a republic and drops the British crown<\/a>).<\/p>\n Consider that the old British empire was the largest empire in human history:<\/p>\n In 1913, 412 million people lived under the control of the British Empire, 23 percent of the world\u2019s population at that time. It remains the largest empire in human history and at the peak of its power in 1920, it covered an astonishing 13.71 million square miles \u2013 that\u2019s close to a quarter of the world\u2019s land area. (McCarthy N. The Biggest Empires In Human History. Statista, December 19, 2019).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n We believe that this happened because of promises God gave to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the sons of Joseph.<\/p>\n Notice:<\/p>\n 11 And Israel said to Joseph, \u201cI had not thought to see your face; but in fact, God has also shown me your offspring!\u201d<\/p>\n 13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel\u2019s left hand, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel\u2019s right hand, and brought them near him. 14 Then Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on Ephraim\u2019s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh\u2019s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn.<\/p>\n 15 And he blessed Joseph, and said:<\/p>\n \u201cGod, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, 19 \u201c\u2026 He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.\u201d 20 So he blessed them that day, saying, \u201cBy you Israel will bless, saying, \u2018May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh!\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n 21 Then Israel said to Joseph, \u201cBehold, I am dying, but God will be with you and bring you back to the land of your fathers. 22 Moreover I have given to you one portion above your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and my bow.\u201d (Genesis 48:11, 13-16,19-22).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n It should also be mentioned that since Jacob\u2019s name was changed to Israel (Genesis 32:28), that in the first statement above he is clearly indicating that biblically one or both of the sons of Joseph could be referred to by the name Israel. And although Manasseh (some of whose descendants came to what became the USA) was born first, God had Jacob give the \u201cright hand\u201d blessing to Ephraim (Genesis 48:13-14) and God later declared, \u201cEphraim is my firstborn<\/strong>\u201d (Jeremiah 31:9). This may be why Ephraim (which represents the British-descended peoples) emerged as a major power before the USA (and of course it lost its position as the top international power). Notice that Ephraim was promised to become a multitude of nations\u2013this was fulfilled by the old British Empire\u2013and even currently there are the ethnically British-dominated nations of the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n Notice also that in Genesis 48, Israel said that the sons of Joseph would get more than the brothers. And while that had ancient application, it also may be part of why we have seen the past couple of centuries with British-American dominance of the world.<\/p>\n We in the Church of God have also been teaching for decades that the United Kingdom and USA would ultimately lose influence as well as many of their sea gates. Notice the following from 1979:<\/p>\n Where do we find the United States and the British mentioned in the Biblical prophecies, yes, where? If you\u2019ll think this through, listen.<\/p>\n We are the wealthiest of nations. We have been the most powerful. We and the British are the same family of peoples. Together we possess more than two-thirds of all the wealth and the developed resources of this whole world, of this whole round earth on which we live. \u2026<\/p>\n But, my friends, already the British are on the way down. Since World War II, the British have lost a great deal of their power. They are losing their colonies, their foreign possessions which brought them their wealth. And the United States at this moment is having its great strength and its power sapped. \u2026<\/p>\n Never on the face of the earth has there been a nation of such wealth and such great power as the United States and the British have had during this century.<\/p>\n Now, why? How did all that happen? \u2026\u00a0the United States and the British Commonwealth are not ignored in Biblical prophecy.<\/span>\u00a0\u2026<\/p>\n Joseph was given a double portion and his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh each became a tribe; and so, rather, you usually read of the tribe of Ephraim and the tribe of Manasseh although the name Joseph is occasionally used but there it includes the two tribes.<\/p>\n Now, Ephraim was made the chief birthright holder \u2026 (Armstrong HW. United States and Britain in Prophecy. Radio broadcast, May 30, 1979;\u00a0https:\/\/www.hwalibrary.com\/cgi-bin\/get\/hwa.cgi?action=getbroadcast&InfoID=1331995431<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n We in the CCOG believe the Anglo-American peoples gained possession of land and wealth because of blessings from God and would lose them because of blatant disobedience.<\/p>\n Notice a couple of prophetic warnings that are consistent with that:<\/p>\n 58 \u201cIf you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, 59 then the Lord will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues \u2014 great and prolonged plagues \u2014 and serious and prolonged sicknesses. 60 Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. 61 Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed. 62 You shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of heaven in multitude, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God. 63 And\u00a0it shall be, that just as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good and multiply you, so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you and bring you to nothing; and you shall be plucked from off the land which you go to possess<\/strong>. (Deuteronomy 28:58-63)<\/p>\n 24 \u2018Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. 25 For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. 26 You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you 27 (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), 28 lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you. (Leviticus 18:24-28)<\/p>\n 23 \u2018And if by these things you are not reformed by Me, but walk contrary to Me, 24 then I also will walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times for your sins. 25 And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. (Leviticus 26:23-25)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n So, those that were promised blessings were also told that they would be subject to losing those blessings if they disobeyed God. As far as being plucked from the land, see\u00a0Will the Anglo-Saxon Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?<\/a><\/p>\n Also consider that for many years, the major sea gates of the world were possessed\/controlled by the United States (Panama Canal and certain locations in the Pacific ocean; watch also\u00a0The Panama Canal and its Impact on Biblical Prophecy<\/a>) and the British Empire (Straits of Malacca, Singapore, Suez Canal, Bab el Mandeb, Strait of Hormuz, Simon\u2019s Town\/Cape of Good Hope, Malta, Gibraltar, Falkland Islands, etc.). And while that is no longer the case for many of them, they seem to have been prophesied to be taken away for disobedience as well (c.f. Deuteronomy 28:52)\u2014and certainly these nations have disobeyed the God of Abraham, as well as actually have lost many of those gates. Thus, it seems logical to conclude that the remaining \u201csea gates\u201d that the UK has such as Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands will be separated from UK control. Spain directly, or perhaps, through the EU (or some other European confederation) indirectly, will force out British control over Gibraltar. As an island, Barbados, in a sense, is another sea gate loss (though not as strategically significant as many of the others).<\/p>\n The fact of the losses so far of many of the Anglo-American sea gates should show us that various curses have began to hit the Anglo-nations. More will as well until the Anglo nations (including the USA) will be no more.<\/p>\n In 2000, my family and I went to Jamaica for the Feast of Tabernacles. About 100 attended.
