Western Europe suffered its hottest summer on record, as heatwaves, drought, and wildfires battered the region.<\/p>\n<p>August 2026 was 1.65C hotter than the 1850-1900 average, a period commonly used as the benchmark for temperatures &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHumans haven\u2019t seen temperatures as hot as today for, arguably, at least the last 100,000 years,\u201d<\/em> Samantha Burgess of the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, which oversees Copernicus, told AFP. Copernicus records extend back to 1940. Scientists use evidence including ice cores, tree rings, and corals to reconstruct temperatures further in the past.<\/p>\n<p>The record followed an exceptionally hot summer across Western Europe. France, the UK, and Belgium all recorded their hottest summers; France endured 53 heatwave days and received almost 40% less rainfall than normal, making it the country\u2019s second-driest summer since 1959.<\/p>\n<p>The extreme heat also triggered a sharp rise in mortality. France registered an estimated 5,764 excess deaths from all causes during the June 17-July 2 heatwave \u2013 36% above the expected level in affected areas, according to Sante publique France. Another 1,243 excess deaths were recorded during heatwave periods from July 3-22.<\/p>\n<p>The combination of scorching temperatures and scarce rainfall hit crops and transportation. Germany\u2019s grain harvest fell an estimated 7.3% year-on-year, with the authorities blaming heat and drought, while falling water levels on major rivers including the Rhine disrupted shipping. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/645385-august-global-heat-record\/\">https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/645385-august-global-heat-record\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>10 September 2026<\/p>\n<p>Data from the European Union&#8217;s Copernicus Climate Change Service released Thursday showed\u00a0the average global air temperature last month measured 16.96\u00b0 Celsius (62.53\u00b0 F), the highest monthly global average ever recorded.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Humans haven&#8217;t seen temperatures as hot as today for, arguably, at least the last 100,000 years,&#8221; Samantha Burgess from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, which oversees Copernicus, told AFP. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/august-hottest-month-ever-recorded-says-eu-monitor\/a-79208462\">https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/august-hottest-month-ever-recorded-says-eu-monitor\/a-79208462<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the European continent specifically, these figures mark the end of the hottest summer ever recorded in Western Europe, with prolonged, intense and early heatwaves beginning as early as May. For the region, the summer of 2026 broke the record set during the same period in 2003. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2026\/09\/10\/august-2026-was-worlds-joint-hottest-month-on-record-according-to-copernicus\">https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2026\/09\/10\/august-2026-was-worlds-joint-hottest-month-on-record-according-to-copernicus<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The world has been changing.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus warned of &#8220;troubles&#8221; in Mark 13:8. And what we are seeing in Europe surely are troubles.<\/p>\n<p>For reporting about a heatwave in Europe earlier this year, we in the <em>Continuing<\/em> Church of God were mocked by the anti-Christian <em>Banned by HWA<\/em> website.<\/p>\n<p>The anti-Christian comments at the Banned site brought the following to mind from the Apostle Peter:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, \u201cWhere is the promise of His coming? After a rare \u2018earthquake doublet\u2019 in Venezuela and a major quake in Japan, while Europe was experiencing record heat, Dr. Thiel reminded people what Jesus prophesied in a post. An anti-Christian website scoffed and mocked Dr. Thiel\u2019s post, basically by saying such occurrences were normal and that Jesus\u2019 words in Mark 13:8 were not related. The Apostle Peter warned that there would be scoffers in the last days who would assert that things were normal while ignoring prophecies. The prophet Isaiah also warned of those who would tell prophets to not prophesy, but say \u201csmooth things.\u201d The Bible says that God controls the weather, and His prophet Amos wrote that God uses weather matters to encourage repentance. Notice the following from the old Worldwide Church of God:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Bible makes plain who is in control of the weather! &#8220;Fire and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling His word&#8221; (Ps . 148:8 , RAV).<\/p>\n<p>God intervenes in weather to work out his purposes among nations&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Plagues of disastrous weather are a warning to humanity. Weather for the most part operates according to natural laws. Damaging weather patterns sometimes develop. God simply may not choose to intervene to stop them because of nations&#8217; various sins and idolatry.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible reveals God also directly intervenes to cause weather plagues to warn certain nations. &#8220;I have smitten you with blasting and mildew . .. yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord&#8221; (Amos 4:9). He, in his great purpose, may also allow Satan-the god of this world (II Cor. 4:4)-to have a role in producing calamitous weather, for man&#8217;s ultimate learning (see Job, chapter 1). Plain Truth. 1984, pp. 19-20)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Bible repeatedly warns, especially in the Hebrew scriptures, that God can cause destructive weather:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>24 \u201cI <i>am<\/i>\u00a0the\u00a0<span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord &#8230; 27 Who says to the deep, \u2018Be dry! <span class=\"text Isa-44-27\">And<strong> I will dry up your rivers<\/strong>\u2019; (Isaiah 44:24,27)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>15 &#8220;But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: 16 &#8220;Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country. &#8230; 22 The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, <strong>with scorching<\/strong>, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish. 23 And your heavens which are over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you shall be iron. 24 <strong>The Lord will change the rain of your land to powder and dust; from the heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed<\/strong>. (Deuteronomy 28:15-16, 22-24)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As far as heat in Europe and elsewhere goes, in 2019 I posted the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Yes, the temperature will one day be even higher than the records being set this Summer. Weather is not as random as most seem to want to believe.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2009, in a book that accurately laid out what would and would NOT happen in 2012, I mentioned the following was about to happen:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Considering all of the natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, food shortages, and economic problems in the past few years, perhaps this would be a good time to explain that the Bible shows that these problems were expected to occur prior to the great tribulation. Those outside the Bible have sometimes referred to a time such as this as a time of transition or chaos. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>There will be a generation that will experience end-time events, beginning with \u201csorrows,\u201d including the Great Tribulation, heavenly signs, and finally the return of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:5-34). \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Mark recorded the same account of this time from his perspective:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><sup>3<\/sup>\u00a0Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,\u00a0<sup>4<\/sup>\u00a0\u201cTell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?\u201d\u00a0<sup>5<\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus, answering them, began to say: \u201cTake heed that no one deceives you.<sup>\u00a06<\/sup>\u00a0For many will come in My name, saying, \u2018I am He,\u2019 and will deceive many.\u00a0<sup>7<\/sup>\u00a0But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet.\u00a0<sup>8<\/sup>\u00a0For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and\u00a0<strong>there will be famines<\/strong><strong>\u00a0and troubles<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>These are the beginnings of sorrows<\/strong>.<sup>\u00a09<\/sup>\u00a0But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them.\u00a0<sup>10<\/sup>\u00a0And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.\u00a0<sup>11<\/sup>\u00a0But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit\u2026\u201d (Mark 13:3\u201311).<\/p>\n<p>Thus, in both Matthew and Mark it is clear that a time called \u201cthe beginning of sorrows\u201d precedes the Great Tribulation.<\/p>\n<p>Notice that in Mark\u2019s account he uses the term troubles. Troubles would seem to include economic and political problems, in addition to those specifically mentioned, such as wars, famines, natural disasters, and pestilences. \u2026<\/p>\n<table border=\"1\" width=\"423\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"281\">Odd weather patterns result in food shortages and natural disasters.<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"122\">Matthew 24:7<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"281\">The world is actually in a berserk transition, as the real age of peace is not yet here. It may be a period of chaos. Nazarene Books, 2009)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>We are seeing odd weather patterns and natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, much higher heat is prophesied. The following prophecy is expected to be fulfilled within the next decade:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.
