On the eve of the summit, the Russian Direct Investment Fund, BRICS Pay and BRICS Pay India agreed to explore integrating the payment platform with India\u2019s existing infrastructure and to prepare pilot cross-border payment projects.<\/p>\n<p>A group-wide payment mechanism has yet to be launched, however. The New Delhi Declaration said the BRICS Payment Task Force would continue seeking practical solutions for cross-border transactions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/645645-brics-putin-modi-xi\/?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=RSS\">https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/645645-brics-putin-modi-xi\/?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=RSS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>13 September 2026<\/p>\n<p>Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, were among the leaders attending the gathering of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/9\/11\/bric-by-bric-has-brics-challenged-the-western-dominated-world\">11-member bloc<\/a>\u00a0in New Delhi at a time of global upheaval caused by the US-Israel war on Iran, Trump\u2019s tariff war and the US\u2019s unilateral decisions to promote its foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p>Al Jazeera\u2019s Um-e-Kulsoom Shariff, reporting from New Delhi, said the group \u201csteered clear\u201d of naming any countries, even on the issue of wide-ranging US tariffs. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen BRICS countries who have been targeted, be it India, Russia, China, or any other, but they have stayed clear,\u201d she reported. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>BRICS was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China, mainly as an economic forum. South Africa joined the grouping four years later. It has since expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The BRICS nations constitute nearly half the world\u2019s population and account for approximately 40 percent of global gross domestic product (GDP).<\/p>\n<p>The bloc has sought greater influence for developing economies in institutions traditionally dominated by Western powers &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Conveying India\u2019s position, Modi insisted that &#8230; \u201cBRICS is not against anyone,\u201d he said, while arguing that the Global South should play a bigger role in shaping global governance. &#8230;<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"us-tariffs\">US tariffs<\/h4>\n<p>The declaration raised concern over \u201cunilateral tariff and non-tariff measures\u201d that distort trade, while also opposing sanctions imposed without UNSC authorisation.<\/p>\n<p>Washington has imposed tariffs on several BRICS countries, including China, Russia and India, and President Donald Trump has previously described the grouping as \u201canti-American\u201d. He threatened additional tariffs against countries aligning themselves with it.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the summit, Putin accused countries \u201caccustomed to thinking in colonial categories\u201d of using tariffs, sanctions and \u201cbrute force\u201d to contain emerging competitors. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/9\/13\/brics-summit-2026-what-are-the-key-takeaways\">https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/9\/13\/brics-summit-2026-what-are-the-key-takeaways<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Resilience by BRICS appears to be somewhat synonymous with being better able to resist pressures from the United States.<\/p>\n<p>One of the unintended consequences of USA sanctions against Russia and Iran, combined with tariff increases against nearly all other nations, is that it has been getting more nations to go against the USA and the use of its dollar for cross border purposes. Russia has been a leader in coming up with ways to better accomplish this (see also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/russian-sanctions-proof-payment-system-bypassing-swift-iran-to-join-the-brics-new-development-bank\/\">Russian sanctions-proof payment system bypassing SWIFT; Iran to join the BRICS \u2018New Development Bank\u2019<\/a>). China, however, has also been looking towards its own cross-border payment system:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>China\u2019s emphasis on CIPS, its own cross-border renminbi payment system, instead of BRICS Bridge. The former (again current) President of Brazil, Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva, even claimed that eliminating the U.S. dollar\u2019s reserve currency status was one of the reasons that the BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) was formed in the first place. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/brics-nations-russia-and-china-have-essentially-stopped-using-the-usa-dollar-for-trade\/#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a> Others have\u00a0 noted that bypassing the USA dollar is still an object of BRICS\u2014and officially BRICS nations \u201care currently working on setting up a new global reserve currency,\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/brics-nations-russia-and-china-have-essentially-stopped-using-the-usa-dollar-for-trade\/#_edn2\" name=\"_ednref2\">[ii]<\/a> which may have gold-backing.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/brics-nations-russia-and-china-have-essentially-stopped-using-the-usa-dollar-for-trade\/#_edn3\" name=\"_ednref3\">[iii]<\/a> The expansion of BRICS (which is in progress) may ultimately even hurt Australian trade as well as \u201cseverely weaken primacy of the US Dollar as an international currency.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/brics-nations-russia-and-china-have-essentially-stopped-using-the-usa-dollar-for-trade\/#_edn4\" name=\"_ednref4\">[iv]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bible clearly warns against cheapening the money supply and encourages having money hold its value (Proverbs 25:4 Isaiah 1:25, Ezekiel 22:18-22). ZeroHedge, December 3, 2024)<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the impact of the USA dollar losing its reserve status would be horrible\u2013and even worse than Donald Trump asserted. And things like 100% tariffs are inflationary.<\/p>\n<p>The BRICS+ nations, which compose nearly half the population of the world, still want to bypass the US dollar.<\/p>\n<p>US President-elect Donald Trump has threatened 100 percent tariffs on BRICS nations if they replace the dollar in international trade.<\/p>\n<p>However, Brazil has indicated that it aims to boost the effort during its presidency of BRICS. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva\u2019s government has said its objective is the \u201cdevelopment of means of payment\u201d to facilitate trade between member countries.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/india-to-look-towards-pushing-brics-towards-the-global-south-as-iran-war-pushing-brics-to-bypass-the-us-dollar\/#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, some suspect that more countries in BRICS+ may destroy the \u2018petrodollar\u2019 system that supports the dollar.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/india-to-look-towards-pushing-brics-towards-the-global-south-as-iran-war-pushing-brics-to-bypass-the-us-dollar\/#_edn2\" name=\"_ednref2\">[ii]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The USA dollar will ultimately crash and be worthless.
