Speaking to reporters in Brussels on Wednesday, she said that if elected, France could only sustain funding for six months because of the \u201cperilous\u201d state of its public finances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis funding will stop, and it is a matter of honesty to tell [Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy] the truth,\u201d she told Euronews. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Le Pen has also called for an end to EU sanctions against Russia, while saying France could continue training Ukrainian troops and supplying military equipment to Kyiv.<\/p>\n<p>Her comments signal that Le Pen is prepared to take a hardline stance, pledging to end French funding for Ukraine in a position similar to that of US President Donald Trump. &#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"e-ct-outer\">\n<div class=\"entry-content rbct clearfix is-highlight-shares\">\n<h3>Cutting France\u2019s contributions to the EU budget<\/h3>\n<p>With six months to go before France\u2019s presidential election, Le Pen is campaigning on a platform centred on tighter immigration controls, greater national sovereignty and measures to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, as rising fuel prices fuel public discontent.<\/p>\n<p>Her party has backed capping France\u2019s net contribution to the EU budget at \u20ac5 billion a year, down from \u20ac8 billion, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/m.gslb.senat.fr\/rap\/l25-139-22\/l25-139-220.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">figures published by the French Senate<\/a>. In this pamphlet, the party\u2019s European policy experts had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tagesspiegel.de\/politik\/internes-strategiepapier-plant-die-afd-eine-kehrtwende-in-sachen-eu-und-euro-16124603.html\">apparently agreed on a strategic shift in their approach to the EU and monetary policy<\/a>. There was no longer any talk of leaving the euro system or even of a Dexit, Germany\u2019s departure from the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Quite the opposite: The EU is to be transformed into a federation of sovereign nations, with a focus on the internal market, effective protection of the external borders, and coordination among member states on security matters. In general, the goal should be to return political powers to the nation-states \u2014 all sensible measures to consolidate the EU\u2019s completely out-of-control expansionism. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>France\u2019s opposition leader Marine Le Pen of the Rassemblement National sounded similarly tame. On Tuesday morning, Le Pen presented her plans to consolidate France\u2019s ailing public finances. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>After just 15 months in office, Le Pen plans to achieve a <a href=\"https:\/\/rassemblementnational.fr\/videos\/marine-le-pen-presente-la-trajectoire-financiere-de-son-quinquennat\">balanced primary budget<\/a>, meaning a surplus before interest payments. As in Germany, Le Pen plans to enshrine a debt brake, her \u201cgolden rule,\u201d in the constitution by referendum \u2014 and we have known since Chancellor Friedrich Merz single-handedly executed the debt brake with an already-defeated Bundestag and the special fund exactly what such political promises are worth.<\/p>\n<p>Le Pen also had a very special message for Ursula von der Leyen. <strong>France\u2019s net contributions to the European Commission should immediately be cut back to the level of the early 2000s, to five billion euros<\/strong>. But Islamic issues are paving the way for a strongman to rise up in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The time will come when Europe will take strong steps against Islam.
