The New York Post<\/em> reported the following:<\/p>\n

Why the left doesn\u2019t want to face the facts about marriage<\/h2>\n

The decline of marriage drives many of our worst social problems, but the left is silent and the right not much better \u2014 because it\u2019s not something politics or government can fix.<\/p>\n

Comprehensive new research from the Institute for Family Studies charts the disaster<\/a> geographically, outlining marriage \u201cdeserts\u201d where nuclear families are rare and \u201cgardens\u201d where they flourish.<\/p>\n

The \u201cdriest\u201d zones, with the lowest share of householders 15-64 who are married, are urban areas \u2014 high-poverty ones (such as the South Bronx and nearby parts of Manhattan) but also spots dominated by younger people with good prospects (Lower Manhattan into Brooklyn).<\/p>\n

The \u201cgardens\u201d are typically suburbs \u2014 and not just because that\u2019s where folks move to when they want to raise families: The study also shows people as more likely to get<\/em> married in the \u2019burbs<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s striking that the worst deserts (with the \u201cbest\u201d of them hitting just 17% married) are in Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit and DC \u2014 all governed for decades by Democrats.<\/p>\n

The left hates to acknowledge it, but low marriage rates \u2014 meaning, fewer kids raised by both biological (hitched) parents \u2014 bring higher rates of poverty, crime, addiction and general misery, along with far less educational success and shorter lifespans. …<\/p>\n

Progressives have staked out a strongly anti-marriage\/anti-family position for decades, with younger ones today now proudly critical of getting married and having kids. https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/18\/opinion\/why-the-left-doesnt-want-to-face-the-facts-about-marriage\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Let me note that the reason the title of this post ends in a question mark is because the New York Post<\/em> article missed the core reason many on “the left” are not supportive of the biblical concepts of marriage.<\/p>\n

Which is?<\/p>\n

Many on the left despise the Bible.<\/p>\n

Problems are a consequence of that.<\/p>\n

The prophet Isaiah wrote:<\/p>\n

9 That this is a rebellious people,
\nLying children,
\nChildren who will not hear the law of the Lord;
\n10 Who say to the seers, “Do not see,”
\nAnd to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things;
\nSpeak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.
\n11 Get out of the way,
\nTurn aside from the path,
\nCause the Holy One of Israel
\nTo cease from before us.”<\/p>\n

12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel:<\/p>\n

“Because you despise this word,
\nAnd trust in oppression and perversity,
\nAnd rely on them,
\n13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you
\nLike a breach ready to fall,
\nA bulge in a high wall,
\nWhose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant.
\n14 And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel,
\nWhich is broken in pieces;
\nHe shall not spare.
\nSo there shall not be found among its fragments
\nA shard to take fire from the hearth,
\nOr to take water from the cistern.” (Isaiah 30:9-14)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As reported here before, aspects of feminism (see \u2018Feminism\u2019 does not result in happiness<\/a>,\u00a0\u2018Liberal women\u2019 are unhappy<\/a>, and American women continue to be less happy as we get close to the UN\u2019s International Day of Happiness for 2026: There are keys to happiness!<\/a>) and liberal parenting (cf. \u2018Teens more likely to be mentally healthy if they have conservative parents, study says\u2019<\/a>) decrease happiness. And STAYING married helps with happiness (see Happiness study points to biblical principles\u2013how to be happier<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Furthermore, a recent study found that young adults who were married and who were religious were happier than those who were unmarried and not religious (see\u00a0Young adults less happy unless married and religious<\/a>).<\/p>\n
