Residents of southwestern Japan are returning home after four days of record rainfall that caused massive flooding.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of thousands of people on the island of Kyushu began to clean up Monday, as the death toll from flooding and landslides reached at least 27.<\/p>\n

Sunday, Japanese troops airlifted supplies to more than 3,000 thousand people who were stranded in Fukuoka prefecture, southwestern Japan.<\/p>\n

More than 90 millimeters of rain an hour fell in Kyoto prefecture in western Japan, flooding hundreds of homes.<\/p>\n

The Japan Meteorological Agency said Sunday that the worst is over, but predicted more heavy rain in some areas through Monday. \u00a0http:\/\/blogs.voanews.com\/breaking-news\/2012\/07\/16\/japan-begins-cleanup-after-record-rains-flooding\/<\/a><\/p>\n

TOKYO \u2014 A quarter of a million evacuees began to return home on Monday after a letup in torrential rains over the weekend that killed at least 27 people in southern and western Japan and flooded the grounds of the famed Temple of the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto.\u00a0 http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/07\/17\/world\/asia\/floods-in-japan-displace-hundreds-of-thousands.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

And of course, in 2012, weather problems, including drought and heat have affected other areas as well (see, for example, 2012 Drought Declared USA\u2019s Largest Ever Natural Disaster<\/a>, Drought Reducing Wheat Yields in US, Australia, Russia, and Ukraine<\/a> and Weather Extremes in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Flood, droughts, and weather problems contribute to food shortages, higher food prices, and sometimes famines. Food inflation seems to be occurring (see Corn Prices Rise 33%, More Food Problems Ahead<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Droughts and odd weather problems should serve as a wake-up call. Weather-related troubles with their related food issues, of course, have been biblically expected:<\/p>\n

The rains and flooding in Japan, while not the Great Tribulation, certainly can be considered “troubles.”<\/p>\n
