The term omnipresent<\/em>, however, has caused more trouble. Basically, being omnipresent<\/em> means being present everywhere at the same time. Can this term be applied to God? What does Scripture tell us?<\/p>\n Ask yourself: is there any physical location in this universe where we can hide from the presence of God? The answer, according to Scripture, is a resounding \u201cNo!\u201d In fact, King David posed this question directly, asking: \u201cWhere can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence<\/em>? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell [the grave], behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me\u201d (Psalm 139:7\u201310).<\/p>\n David answers the question beautifully: it is futile to search for a place to hide from the presence of God (and it is unwise to try\u2014just ask Jonah!). In this sense, God\u2019s infallible word shows that He is omnipresent\u2014within His vast creation, there is no place where you can hide from His presence.<\/p>\n Still, we must be careful with our terms! Many have tried to twist God\u2019s omnipresence to portray Him as some kind of shapeless \u201cblob\u201d\u2014even though the Bible clearly<\/strong><\/em> shows that God has a body and a shape\u2014and it is a shape like ours! Consider Genesis 1:26, which tells us that man is made in God\u2019s image<\/em> and likeness<\/em>\u2014words that do<\/em> convey a sense of shape<\/em>. We do not<\/em> use human philosophies to avoid the clear statements of Scripture! Consider, as well, the passage in which God says unambiguously<\/em> that He has a face, a hand and a back (Exodus 33:18\u201323)! The only way to understand this passage from Exodus without making a mockery of God\u2019s word<\/em> is to agree that God has a shape and a body!<\/p>\n So, how is God \u201ceverywhere\u201d?\u00a0 We already read the answer, in David\u2019s words: \u201cWhere can I go from your Spirit<\/strong>?\u201d (Psalm 139:7). It is by their Spirit that the Father and the glorified Christ have complete access to their creation! Through His Spirit, God\u2019s reach extends to every nook and cranny of the universe, and there is\u2014as David wrote\u2014no place to flee from His presence. Yet He still retains a shape\u2014a body\u2014ruling in glory from His throne in heaven. It is from there<\/em> that \u201cHis eyes behold\u201d the sons of men (Psalm 11:4).<\/p>\n We must also note that although God is omnipresent through His Spirit, we can become separated from Him. In fact, we are warned, \u201cyour iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear\u201d (Isaiah 59:2). Jesus Christ experienced this horrible separation during His crucifixion, when on our behalf He took upon Himself the full penalty of our sins (cf. Mark 15:34; Isaiah 53:4\u20135).<\/p>\n The world\u2019s scholars and theologians often have a wrong idea about God\u2019s omnipresence. But if we let God\u2019s flawless word teach us what God\u2019s omnipresence truly means, our footing is made sure.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n God is everywhere, in the known, and unknown universe.\u00a0 And the Spirit of God is infinite.<\/p>\n What might be the purpose of all the planets in the universe?<\/p>\n Notice the following passage from Hebrews:<\/p>\n 6 But one testified in a certain place, saying: “What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him? 7 You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands. 8 You have put all things in subjection under his feet.”<\/p>\n For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.<\/p>\n 10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (Hebrews 2:6-10)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n So, the entire universe was made for humankind, but is not yet under human subjection, but will be first under Jesus. And then, later under humankind.<\/p>\n So, resurrected humans will at some time rule all the planets of the universe.<\/p>\n But there is more. Notice something else that the Bible teaches:<\/p>\n 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end. (Luke 1:33)<\/p>\n 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder.
