COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n Earlier this week, former German Defense Minister, Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, faced insults and rejection when he tried to make a presentation in the USA at Yale:<\/p>\n A group of about 15 German Ph.D. students staged a walkout Wednesday afternoon against a talk on \u201cMyths of the Transatlantic Relations” by former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg.<\/p>\n Guttenberg \u2014 who had served as Germany’s defense minister from October 2009 to March 2011 \u2014 resigned after he was determined to have plagiarized a 2007 doctoral thesis in law…<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re not welcome here!\u201d some protesters shouted as they left.<\/p>\n \u201cI would say something about it if you could stay,\u201d Guttenberg responded. “And also about shame, also about failure.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNo, we actually have to work on our dissertations,” one protester responded, sarcastically. “We\u2019re heading to the library.” \u00a0http:\/\/www.yaledailynews.com\/news\/2012\/nov\/08\/grad-students-stage-walk-out-against-former-german\/?cross-campus<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n This is not the first time Herr Guttenberg is publicly being made fun of.\u00a0\u00a0 He has shown that, publicly, he can take public ridicule, as he demonstrated that when he was hit in the face with a cake last year (see Cake-in-Guttenberg-Face)<\/a> as well as the fact that there is a German television special that will also apparently be making fun of him (Karl Guttenberg Film: Zoon Politician to Come?<\/a>).<\/p>\n Why could this be of prophetic interest?<\/p>\n Bible prophecy warns about a leader who was rejected who will rise up and lead Europe per Daniel 11:21-44. One verse to focus on is verse 21. Here are four translations of it from Catholic and Protestant sources:<\/p>\n 21 And there shall stand up in his place one despised, and the kingly honour shall not be given him: and he shall come privately, and shall obtain the kingdom by fraud. (Daniel 11:21, Douay-Rheims)<\/p>\n 21 “‘His place will be taken by a reject, a man spurned and passed over for advancement. He’ll surprise everyone, seemingly coming out of nowhere, and will seize the kingdom. (Daniel 11:21 from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language \u00a9 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n 21 And in his place shall stand up a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries. (Daniel 11:21, ASV)<\/p>\n 21 ‘And stood up on his station hath a despicable one, and they have not given unto him the honour of the kingdom, and he hath come in quietly, and hath strengthened the kingdom by flatteries. (Daniel 11:21, Young’s Literal Translation)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Interestingly, the Baron was considered to have had a major chance to become Chancellor of Germany before the plagiarism scandal. In a sense, he was “a man spurned and passed over for advancement” as THE MESSAGE version of Daniel 11:21 indicates.<\/p>\n Here are some comments from Barne’s Notes<\/em> on Daniel 11:21:<\/p>\n The Hebrew word rendered “vile” – \u05e0\u05d1\u05d6\u05d4 n\u0131\u0302bezeh – properly means one despised or held in contempt, Isaiah 49:7; Psalm 22:6 (7). The meaning here is, that he was one who deserved to be despised, and who would be held in contempt – a man of a low, base, contemptible character. Vulgate, “despectus;” Greek \u03b5\u0313\u03be\u03bf\u03c5\u03b4\u03b5\u03bd\u03c9\u0301\u03b8\u03b7 exoudeno\u0304the\u0304…<\/p>\n And obtain the kingdom by flatteries – \u05d7\u05dc\u05e7\u05dc\u05e7\u05d5\u05ea cha\u0306laqelaqqo\u0302th – “lubricitates, blanditioe.” “The word,” says Elliott (Rev. iv. 133), “has a double sense, being applied both to the slipperiness of a path, and the slipperiness or flattering and deceit of the tongue.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Athough many despise Herr Guttenberg and make fun of him, some want him back (see, from just a few weeks ago,\u00a0Karl Guttenberg: CSU Leader Wants Him to Make a Comeback<\/a>). \u00a0 He is still having influence in various aspects of foreign policy (e.g. Karl Guttenberg Interviewed and Lays Out Some of His Vision for European Union<\/a> and Karl Guttenberg Laments Loss of Military Deal, etc.<\/a>).<\/p>\n As regular readers know, I have wondered if former German Defense Minister Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg was a candidate to possibly be the final King of the North<\/a> of Daniel 11 and Beast of Revelation<\/a>.\u00a0 The fact that he has had problems and has been rejected by various ones is consistent with biblical and other predictions.<\/p>\n Notice seven speculative predictions that Baron Guttenberg fulfilled after I posted them:<\/p>\n Now just because he fulfilled those does not prove that he must be the final King of the North. But they certainly give me reason, combined with biblical and other prophetic sources to consider that he could fulfill that role or at least aid the one who will have it.<\/p>\n So, he remains one to watch.<\/p>\n Of course, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg could simply be a somewhat politician with many ups and downs. And all his intentions could be fine, despite him being repeatedly insulted.
