COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n Serious drought conditions are continuing in parts of the USA:<\/p>\n 7 February 2013<\/p>\n If Kansas’ current drought continues through 2013, the severity of the water shortage may rival the bad years of the 1930s and ’50s.<\/p>\n The drought is already causing problems and prompting Wichita city officials to think about water rationing.<\/p>\n The drought is bad by several measures. This year’s winter wheat harvest will likely be well below normal, due to low rain during planting last fall. \u00a0http:\/\/kmuw.org\/post\/how-close-kansas-another-dust-bowl<\/a><\/p>\n The U.S. needs more than average precipitation to end the worst drought since the 1930s, while normal to below-normal rainfall is forecast, said John Nielsen- Gammon<\/a>, a state climatologist and a professor at Texas A&M University…\u201cThe drought is so intense at the moment in parts of the U.S. that it will take a lot to end it,\u201d Nielsen-Gammon, based in College Station, Texas, said. \u201cAnd the seasonal forecasts right now are tilted to normal to below-normal rainfall, which means the odds are stacked against ending it anytime soon.\u201d More than 57 percent of the U.S. was in drought<\/a> as of the week ended Jan. 29, compared to 36 percent a year earlier, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2013-02-06\/odds-against-u-s-drought-ending-soon-texas-climatologist-says.html<\/a><\/p>\n AUSTIN \u2014 With nearly all of the state still in drought conditions, members of a House and Senate committee held a joint hearing Tuesday to receive an update on how the drought is affecting the state.\u00a0 State ecologist John Nielsen-Gammon testified before a meeting of the House and Senate Natural Resources Committees, telling lawmakers that the current drought could soon be the second worst ever in the state of Texas, behind only the seven-year drought of record that happened in the 1950s. \u00a0http:\/\/www.yourhoustonnews.com\/cypresscreek\/news\/legislature-joint-committee-gets-drought-briefing\/article_5943795e-708c-11e2-a395-0019bb2963f4.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n A return to dust bowl conditions would not be good for the economy nor production of food.<\/p>\n Flood, droughts, and weather problems not only contribute to food shortages, but also to higher food prices (Heat Affecting USA Wheat Crop<\/a> and USDA Slashes Corn and Soy Production Estimates Due to Drought; Canadian Farmers Expecting to Benefit<\/a>), and sometimes famines.<\/p>\n Here in San Luis Obispo County, California we are also experiencing drought-like conditions.\u00a0 On the other hand, some areas are bracing for flooding.\u00a0 Notice one example:<\/p>\n 7 February 2013<\/p>\n The blizzard expected to begin Friday evening may crescendo into flood damage come Saturday morning.<\/p>\n The National Weather Service has declared a coastal flood<\/a> watch for the entire Massachusetts coast line \u2014 including Salem. \u00a0http:\/\/salem.patch.com\/articles\/storm-surge-large-waves-prompt-coastal-flood-watch-for-salem<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice also the following scriptures:<\/p>\n 10 “Because, indeed, because they have seduced My people, saying, ‘Peace!’ when there is no peace \u2014 and one builds a wall, and they plaster it with untempered mortar \u2014 11 say to those who plaster it with untempered mortar, that it will fall. There will be flooding rain. (Ezekiel 13:10-11)<\/p>\n 7 “I also withheld rain from you, “I blasted you with blight and mildew. (Amos 4:7-9)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Mildew tends to happen after too much rain, and that has affected parts of the USA.<\/p>\n The Bible is tells of a time that there will be food shortages and much more serious food inflation:<\/p>\n 5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice something that Ezekiel was inspired to write:<\/p>\n 15 ‘So it shall be a reproach, a taunt, a lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken. 16 When I send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread. 17 So I will send against you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.'” (Ezekiel 5:15-17)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice that this shows famine, then pestilence, and then the sword. The above sequence seems to be slightly different than that Jesus listed as part of the “beginning of sorrows” (Mathew 24:7-8) as the sword comes afterwards. But since the sword should begin the Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), this may be part of how the beginning of sorrows ties into the Great Tribulation–this also may suggest hunger and disease problems for the Anglo-nations prior to the start of the Great Tribulation.<\/p>\n But this does not mean that other areas, like the rest of the world will not be affected as well.<\/p>\n The sorrows and troubles are just beginning and will get much worse. Hopefully, people will wake up.<\/p>\n As Jesus said:<\/p>\n 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Tougher times are coming. And for some parts of the world these tougher time may be here now. People who can prepare, should: both spiritually and physically. Westerners need to realize that this will not only affect people in places like Africa, Asia, and the Middle East–the Anglo-descended nations of the West will themselves suffer hunger, civil unrest, famine, and worse.<\/p>\n Odd weather problems should serve as a wake-up call. Weather-related troubles with their related food issues, of course, have been biblically expected:<\/p>\n 7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
