COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n The Washington Post<\/em> ran the following today:<\/p>\n After 21 \/ 2 years of budget battles, this is what the federal government looks like now:<\/p>\n It is on pace, this year, to spend $3.455 trillion.<\/p>\n That figure is down from 2010 \u2014 the year that worries about government spending helped bring on a tea party uprising, a Republican takeover in the House and then a series of ulcer-causing showdowns in Congress.<\/p>\n But it is not down by that much. Back then, the government spent a whopping $3.457 trillion.<\/p>\n Measured another way \u2014 not in dollars, but in people \u2014 the government has about 4.1 million employees today, military and civilian. That\u2019s more than the populations of 24 states…<\/p>\n Today another budget fight<\/a> looms. If Republicans and Democrats can\u2019t agree on spending levels by Oct. 1, there could be a government shutdown. Followed, perhaps, by a national credit default.<\/p>\n That will be showdown number seven…This year\u2019s projected spending will be more than in any year of the George W. Bush administration. And more than 30 percent higher (accounting for inflation) than the last year of President Clinton\u2019s term.\u00a0 http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/after-six-budget-showdowns-big-government-is-mostly-unchanged\/2013\/08\/23\/97d90578-0068-11e3-9711-3708310f6f4d_story.html<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n In other words, the politicians in Washington simply have not really solved the issues–and the debt of the USA continues to increase.\u00a0 In addition, programs such as “quantitative easing” by the Federal Reserve have also increased the debt and that is basically overlooked in the assessment by the Washington Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n Notice also the following:<\/p>\n David Walker, who for a decade ran the Government Accountability Office, the watchdog group charged with overseeing how the government spends taxpayer money, is as adamant as ever that Washington is out of touch and out of control with the nation\u2019s finances.<\/p>\n The government estimates the national debt at about $17 trillion, but Walker argues it\u2019s closer to $73 trillion, once all the unfunded promises for future Social Security benefits and other obligations are added in. And he envisions a bleak future if the U.S. doesn\u2019t stem the financial sinkhole: painful inflation, larger gaps between the rich and the poor, even threats to national security.\u00a0 http:\/\/www.thenewsstar.com\/viewart\/20130825\/BUSINESS\/308250037\/Nation-s-former-top-auditor-eyes-US-debt<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Now, the USA has been able to get away with this better than many other nations for several reasons. But the major one is probably because the world still accepts the US dollar (for many reasons) as its reserve currency.\u00a0 Some nations are trying to eliminate the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, and the United Nations has urged countries to do that. Yet most still use \/have a lot of U.S. dollars.<\/p>\n However, when the U.S. dollar is no longer the de facto <\/em>reserve currency for the world, this will hurt the U.S.A. financially. Increasing debt, including \u201cquantitative easing,\u201d is a form of dishonest profits that is not something that God approves of and will punish the U.S.A. for (cf. Ezekiel 22:13-16). Inflation will eventually hit the U.S.A. extremely hard. As the world becomes less attached to the American dollar, many financial jobs and opportunities will be in places other than the U.S.A. Eventually, and not in Barack Obama\u2019s current term, the U.S.A. dollar will become worthless.<\/p>\n Biblically, this is more dangerous than most Republicans or Democrats realize. Notice what the Bible warns about those who increase debt in the end times:<\/p>\n 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end<\/strong> it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come<\/strong>, It will not tarry\u20265 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man\u2026 6 \u201cWill not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, \u2018Woe to him who increases What is not his\u2013how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges\u2019? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly?<\/strong> Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. <\/strong>8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you. <\/strong>Because of men\u2019s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n At some point in time, the USA will likely start to experience massive inflation. And afterwards, its creditors will rise up (Habakkuk 2:7).<\/p>\n The Bible warns against the type of moral decline that is occurring in the U.S.A.:<\/p>\n 12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: \u201cBecause you despise this word, And trust in oppression and perversity, And rely on them, 13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you<\/strong> Like a breach ready to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant<\/strong>. (Isaiah 30:12-13)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n But how can this happen to the USA? It will likely happen with a combination of events. Notice the following:<\/p>\n 5 “Moreover the multitude of your foes Shall be like fine dust, And the multitude of the terrible ones Like chaff that passes away; Yes, it shall be in an instant, suddenly. 6 You will be punished by the Lord of hosts With thunder and earthquake and great noise, With storm and tempest And the flame of devouring fire. (Isaiah 29:5-6)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The debt situation of the USA is putting it at risk of being unable to recover should it be hit by weather problems, terrorist acts, war, riots, solar flares, severe earthquakes, civil unrest, devastation of their genetically-modified food supplies, food shortages, and\/or various pestilences\u2013an intensity of \u201csorrows\u201d such as Jesus discussed in Matthew 24:4-8 leading up to the time of the Great Tribulation. Disasters, especially if there is an ElectroMagnetic Pulse (emp) attack or a severe solar flare storm, could be part of a so-called \u201cperfect storm\u201d of events that could set the USA for destruction.<\/p>\n Many sorrows that the U.S.A. will face, like severe weather problems, diseases and earthquakes, will happen irrespective of who is in the White House (Amos 4:7-10; Luke 21:11). Bible prophecy shows that the King of the North<\/a> and King of the South<\/a> will rise up and the U.S.A. will be ultimately destroyed unless national repentance happens.<\/p>\n Various policies and decisions in Washington, D.C., however, may hasten the day of destruction.
