The National Security Agency moves back into the spotlight Thursday, as the Senate Intelligence Committee hears cases for and against legislative changes to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to cover the agency’s controversial program<\/a> that culls and analyzes phone records of tens of millions of Americans.<\/p>\n

With continuing developments about my own computer that was hacked and revelations that the Justice Department subpoenaed phone records of Associated Press journalists, it got me thinking about ways throughout the day in which my movements and habits are tracked, often with my knowledge and permission.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you turn on the television in the morning, your channel provider can collect data on what channel you’re selecting and what times you’re watching…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hop in the car to drive to work and, if you have a navigation system, it may be placing your position on a map even if you haven’t asked it to. Everyone knows that credit cards can pinpoint your location at any given time anywhere you use it…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course in many cities, traffic cameras are monitoring some freeways and roads 24\/7, often posting the camera views on the Internet where anybody can see them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

License plate reading cameras are now widely used in Washington, D.C. and across the country…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Wall Street Journal reported that the Department of Homeland Security has given more than $50 million to local and state law enforcement agencies over five years to buy the cameras, whose records are sometimes kept indefinitely and can be used by law enforcement to track suspicious activity…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Settle in at the computer and your every Internet move may be tracked…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On any given day, most of us are tracked and watched dozens of times. \u00a0http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/8301-250_162-57604678\/watching-you-when-and-where-you-may-be-tracked\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Add to this, the use of cell phones (USA and UK access \u2018smart phone\u2019 data<\/a>), cameras in stores, tracking by certain employers, bank records, etc., and many Westerners are tracked a lot.<\/p>\n

Of course, much tracking involving the USA\u2019s government (and others) happens secretly, and includes surveillance. God\u2019s people are to pray for protection from \u2018secret plots\u2019:<\/p>\n

2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
\nFrom the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
\n3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
\nAnd bend their bows to shoot their arrows \u2014 bitter words,
\n4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
\nSuddenly they shoot at him and do not fear. (Psalms 64:2-4)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Bible warns that a power will arise in Europe and takeover the land with the strongest fortresses and divide it for gain (Daniel 11:39).\u00a0 The Bible also teaches that the world will marvel that the European Beast power was able to do this (Revelation 13:1-4).\u00a0 The Bible also warns that this European power will seek to force worship and control the economy:<\/div>\n

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.18 Here is wisdom. Because of what the USA and UK have done, and the fact that\u00a0 USA President Obama has declared that he would share espionage secrets, techniques, and findings with the Europeans in general and the Germans in particular, this is setting the stage for even greater surveillance which will come from the emerging Beast power in Europe\u00a0 (Revelation 13:16-18).<\/p>\n

Jesus taught that His people should pay attention to events in the end times (Mark 13:28-37) and surveillance programs are much more pervasive now than they ever have been in previous centuries.<\/p>\n
