A group of Russian MPs have prepared a bill severely restricting imports of genetically modified agricultural produce, and completely banning its domestic production.\u00a0 The initiative is backed by Evgeny Fyodorov of the parliamentary majority United Russia and a group called Russian Sovereignty, which unites MPs from various parties and parliamentary factions.<\/div>\n
The politicians want to amend the existing law On Safety and Quality of Alimentary Products with a norm set for the maximum allowed content of transgenic and genetically modified components. 297 Scientists, Experts Sign Statement: GMOs Not Proven Safe<\/strong><\/div>\n

The statement was drawn up by the European Network of Scientists for Social and Environmental Responsibility. It was released on October 21, 2013. Since then, 297 scientists and experts have signed it. The number of scientists and experts who have signed a joint statement[1] saying that GM foods have not been proven safe and that existing research raises concerns has climbed to 297 since the statement was released on 21 October. \u00a0http:\/\/www.ensser.org\/media\/0713\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I hope that the Russians do ban GMO ‘foods.’\u00a0 GMOs are dangerous.\u00a0 Notice also the following:<\/p>\n

(CNN)<\/strong> — Most people like to know what they are eating. However, labeling for genetically modified organisms is not required in any state. This is largely because of the money expended by GM seed producers toward blocking food-labeling laws.<\/p>\n

A common claim made by this group is that GM foods have been proved safe to eat and that there is a global scientific consensus to support this statement; therefore, no labeling is needed.<\/p>\n

However, an examination of the scientific data, along with discussions on this topic in other countries, show that both claims are blatantly false<\/a>…<\/p>\n

With the promise of reducing the use of agricultural chemicals, most of the current GM crops are supposedly either insect or herbicide resistant<\/a>. In reality, GM crops have fostered an epidemic of herbicide resistant weeds and insects that are no longer killed by the built-in toxins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The result is a massive increase in herbicide use<\/a> — an additional 527 million pounds over the past 16 years…An Associated Press story<\/a> in October documented the large increase in cancer and birth defects in commercial farming areas of Argentina since the introduction of GM crops. These data confirm recent animal studies showing that GM corn and the herbicides sprayed on it caused a dramatic increase<\/a> in cancer in the same strain of rats used in FDA drug safety tests<\/a>…<\/p>\n

In reality, there is no evidence<\/a> that GM food is safe for human consumption, nor is there any consensus<\/a> on this topic within the scientific community.<\/p>\n

It is critical for the public to educate itself about the realities of GMOs and not be fooled by the rhetoric from companies that sell it.<\/p>\n

Most of the world has studied this issue and concluded that GMOs are not worth the risk. \u00a0http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2014\/02\/03\/opinion\/schubert-gmo-labeling\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And there are more issues than just food safety risks, cancer rates, and increased herbicide uses because of genetic-modification , there are also serious ethical ones.<\/p>\n

Back on January 31, 2006, then US President George W. Bush proposed banning genetic experiments involving humans with animals.\u00a0 Here is what he said to Congress in his State of the Union address:<\/p>\n

Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research \u2014 human cloning in all its forms, creating or implanting embryos for experiments, creating human-animal hybrids, and buying, selling, or patenting human embryos. Human life is a gift from our Creator\u00a0\u2013\u00a0and that gift should never be discarded, devalued, or put up for sale. \u00a0https:\/\/www.nrlc.org\/federal\/killingembryos\/sotu2006bancloning\/<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That ban never happened in the USA.\u00a0 Now more and more experiments are happening to produce what are called chimeras.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the research lab, chimeras are created by introducing cells from one species into the developing embryo or fetus of another. Can you imagine what kind of sick, mad and twisted experiments are taking place in the dark corners of secret labs that nobody knows about? This is the stuff sci-fi movies are made from and what happens if these creatures get out into the wild and starting mating? At that point, it would be nearly impossible to \u201cput the genie back into the bottle\u201d. Of course, those of us who believe the Bible should not be surprised that humans are going the wrong way with aspects of genetic research.\u00a0 Notice that the Bible warned about human knowledge increasing and problems in the end time:<\/p>\n

6 And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. 7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” (Genesis 11:6-7)<\/p>\n

4 “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”\u00a0 (Daniel 12:4)<\/p>\n

How much ‘love’ do scientists have for the inter-spliced animal-human entities they are sometimes creating?\u00a0 Do they not brutally experiment and then destroy most of what they are currently creating that way?<\/p>\n

This is going the wrong direction.\u00a0 We need to turn away from such.<\/p>\n

Perhaps I should mention that both US President Barack Obama and his last Republican challenger for the presidency, Mitt Romney, both have been backers of GMOs.\u00a0 GMOs are not what the world needs.\u00a0 Jesus<\/a>, repentance, and the Kingdom of God<\/a> is.<\/p>\n
