The Late Herbert W. Armstrong in Sri Lanka<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n A few moments ago, I received ICG’s<\/a> latest update.\u00a0 In it, Mark Armstrong states: News came to me this week that is sickening. That is, that one of those claiming to have inherited \u201cthe authority of Herbert W. Armstrong\u201d has told his congregation that they should liquidate any holdings and send in their money.<\/font><\/p>\n How many abuses will be committed in the name of my deceased Grandfather?\u00a0 And how long will some poor abused people remain in a state of deception, or worse, mind control?\u00a0 <\/font><\/p>\n I realize that there is a lot of legitimate respect among the churches of God for Herbert W. Armstrong.\u00a0 But honestly!\u00a0 He was not a deity, and no one should be blindly obeying any men, ministers, or otherwise, who falsely claim his authority.\u00a0 Yes, it\u2019s a touchy subject, and I realize that our reach is limited and that hundreds or thousands of people are going to be bilked out their family\u2019s financial security because they don\u2019t have access to any source of truth on the subject.\u00a0 And that\u2019s a crime.<\/font><\/p>\n My Dad spent the last thirty some odd years of his life trying to warn against following abusive, demanding, bogus religious leaders.\u00a0 But its still going on.\u00a0 Do people think God will reward them, or at least hold them guiltless if they accept the bizarre demands and edicts of a religious authoritarian?\u00a0 Garner Ted Armstrong was against it!\u00a0 I\u2019m sure neither my Grandfather nor my Dad ever expected the family name would be used by brazen unknown individuals to issue edicts and make abusive demands over people\u2019s personal lives.\u00a0 <\/font><\/p>\n No, I can\u2019t sum it all up here.\u00a0 But under the circumstances, my mind is working overtime wondering how to discharge a responsibility to warn the unsuspecting \u201cmembers\u201d of the dangers they face from the abusers of the Armstrong name.\u00a0 I\u2019m not asking anyone to leave one organization and join another. But I\u2019m miserable knowing that my Granddad\u2019s legacy, and my family name are being used to impoverish people.\u00a0 What\u2019s next?\u00a0 Coolaid!?!\u00a0 <\/font><\/p>\n Some of you may or may not even be interested in this subject.\u00a0 Unfortunately,\u00a0 I have to go on the record, and this is only the beginning.\u00a0 But it\u2019s way past time people have access to the knowledge they need to see through the misuse of Herbert W. Armstrong\u2019s name.\u00a0 Unfortunately, it\u2019s reached a stage that can\u2019t be ignored.<\/font> Comments by COGwriter<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n Mark Armstrong’s comments, by and large, seem reasonable in the light of what has been happening.\u00a0 I was pleased that he sent them out.<\/p>\n Mark Armstrong’s comments are essentially referring to David Pack and he seems to have learned some of what I posted at the News of the Global Church of God page<\/a> (with some information available\u00a0in the news item David Pack of the Restored Church of God Declares: “Go get those assets and get them here”<\/a>).<\/p>\n (Others, like PCG’s Gerald Flurry<\/a>, also seem to abuse authority in HWA’s name–and I believe he is one that\u00a0Mark Armstrong\u00a0also intended to directed his comments towards.)<\/p>\n Two articles of additional information may include:<\/em><\/p>\n
