Some religious writers claim that Russia is the prophesied final “King of the North”.<\/p>\n

They tend to base this upon the fact that Russia is a major military power and is located in the north.<\/p>\n

And while that would seem to make some sense at first glance, this conclusion overlooks at least one very important point.<\/p>\n

And that is that according to the 11th chapter of the Book of Daniel (which is the only place where the term “king of the north” is used in the Bible), the King of the North is disturbed by powers from the north and the east.<\/p>\n

Notice the following verse where the “him” is the King of the North:<\/p>\n

44 But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many (Daniel 11:44).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As there would be no power north of the Russia at that time, it would seem likely that Russia would not be the final King of the North.<\/p>\n

However, since Russia is north (and east) of Europe, it would seem to make a lot more sense that a European power would be the final king of the north.<\/p>\n
