It is a severe, often fatal disease in humans and nonhuman primates (such as monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees).<\/p>\n Ebola HF is caused by infection with a virus of the family Filoviridae<\/a>,<\/em> genus Ebolavirus<\/em>. When infection occurs, symptoms<\/a> usually begin abruptly. The first Ebolavirus<\/em> species was discovered in 1976 in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo near the Ebola River. Since then, outbreaks have appeared sporadically.<\/p>\n There are five identified subspecies of Ebolavirus<\/em>. Four of the five have caused disease in humans: Ebola virus (Zaire ebolavirus<\/em>); Sudan virus (Sudan ebolavirus<\/em>); Ta\u00ef Forest virus (Ta\u00ef Forest ebolavirus<\/em>, formerly C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire ebolavirus<\/em>); and Bundibugyo virus (Bundibugyo ebolavirus<\/em>). The fifth, Reston virus (Reston ebolavirus<\/em>), has caused disease in nonhuman primates, but not in humans.<\/p>\n The natural reservoir host of ebolaviruses remains unknown. However, on the basis of available evidence and the nature of similar viruses, researchers believe that the virus is zoonotic (animal-borne) with bats being the most likely reservoir<\/strong>. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.
