A PEW survey reported a decline in the number of those in the USA who consider themselves to be Roman Catholic<\/a> or Protestant<\/a>:<\/p>\n

A major new survey of religious life in the United States reveals a growing shift between the numbers of declared Christians and those who choose not to belong to any organized religion.<\/p>\n

In its report, “America’s Changing Religious Landscape<\/a>”\u00a0<\/a> the Pew Research Center says the U.S. is still the most dominant Christian nation in the world, with just over 70 percent of adults, or 173 million Americans, identifying themselves as followers of Jesus Christ. That figure, however, has dropped dramatically since 2007, when just over 78 percent of adults, or 178 million Americans, called themselves Christians.\u00a0 During the same period, the number of people who declared themselves as either atheist, agnostic (someone who is unsure or unconcerned about the existence of God) or of no particular faith rose from 16 percent to nearly 23 percent.<\/p>\n

The number of Americans unaffiliated with any religious faith – a group that researchers have dubbed “nones” – is widespread across age, race, gender and income level, but is especially pronounced among young adults.<\/p>\n

Among particular Christian faiths, Roman Catholicism has suffered the most losses among its ranks, dropping from 54 million members in 2007 to 51 million last year, while the number of mainline, or liberal, Protestants fell from 51 percent to around 46 percent during that time period.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the survey found growing diversity within the U.S. religious population, with non-Christian faiths rising from nearly 5 percent in 2007 to nearly 6 percent in 2014, especially among Muslims and Hindus, although their overall numbers remain small. http:\/\/www.voanews.com\/content\/survey-finds-shift-in-number-of-non-religious-americans\/2764252.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The amount of people vehemently opposed to biblical morality has also increased, which is why I included the particular photo seen at the beginning of this post.<\/p>\n

Despite that, the population of the USA is still one of the largest in terms of being Protestant\/Catholic.\u00a0 Yet, those who claim those faiths are more and more accepting behaviors that the Bible condemns, and that is not good (cf. Romans 1:18-32).<\/p>\n

Although Europe<\/a> is often considered to be irreligious, the time will come when the less Protestant\/Catholic Europeans will embrace a revised faith that will call itself ‘Catholic.’\u00a0 Both the Bible and Catholic writings agree on that. While various Catholic writings point out some of the dangers of the ecumenical movement, others see the dangers in a faith that will claim to be Catholic in the future (see also Why Should American Catholics Fear Unity with the Orthodox?<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Even though the ecumenical movement will succeed in Europe and elsewhere (cf. Revelation 13:4,8), it will not meet with as much success in the USA.<\/p>\n

Despite massive moral compromise that is going on in the USA, the clinging to various types of Protestantism in the USA will be perceived as a threat to what will arise in Europe.\u00a0 And steps will be taken by the Europeans that will not end well for the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39).<\/p>\n

National repentance is the only hope that the USA has at this time and the trends, including what the PEW report indicates, suggest that this is not going to happen.\u00a0 Moral decline, including hypocrisy, will accelerate destruction of the USA (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11; Romans 1:18-32).<\/p>\n
