WASHINGTON \u2013 Supply-chain disruptions often are the result of adverse weather, unplanned telecom outages, data breaches or even cyber hacking.<\/p>\n

However, the one \u201cBlack Swan\u201d event that would make these instances pale by comparison and result in a cascading disruption is a natural or man-made electromagnetic pulse event.<\/p>\n

A \u201cBlack Swan\u201d is an event regarded at the time of its occurrence as unprecedented and unexpected but later, in hindsight, understood to have been inevitable.<\/p>\n

An EMP is in that category, since scientific experts repeatedly warn that a major EMP event is not a question of if, but when.<\/p>\n

Barrett Moore, a security specialist and founder of the security company Triple Canopy, told WND that federal officials have modeled the effects of a \u201cBlack Swan\u201d event on the timely delivery of food, water, fuel, medical care and technology. But they have done it primarily for the government\u2019s benefit. …<\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing potential for large-scale chaos,\u201d Barrett said, \u201cthey have mitigated this risk for themselves by investing hundreds of billions of dollars in a continuity-of-government plan that has overseen the construction, equipping and provisioning of over 100 classified \u2018haven\u2019 facilities accessible only to families and staff of government officials,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo parallel provisions have been made in our country for the general population,\u201d he said. …<\/p>\n

\n

A natural EMP event would be a direct hit on Earth from a massive solar storm, while a man-made EMP would be a high-altitude nuclear bomb burst instigated by any adversarial country with a nuclear weapon and a missile-delivery system.<\/p>\n

Given the level of U.S. unpreparedness, it is estimated that within 12 months of an EMP event, two-thirds to 90 percent of the U.S. population would likely perish from starvation, disease and societal breakdown, according to the Secure the Grid Coalition<\/a>. …<\/p>\n

\n

One of the coalition\u2019s spokesmen is Peter Vincent Pry, who told WND that \u201cpolitical gridlock\u201d in Washington has hindered the implementation of any of a number of cost-effective plans to protect the national electrical grid.<\/p>\n

He said the electric grid is the \u201ckeystone\u201d infrastructure necessary to recover all other critical infrastructures. Protection of the grid from an EMP \u2013 which Pry said is the \u201cworst threat\u201d \u2013 will also enhance overall grid security against all other threats including cyber attack, sabotage and severe weather.<\/p>\n

Pry is a former analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency who serves as executive director of the congressional Task Force on National and Homeland Security and director of the U.S. Nuclear Strategy Forum.<\/p>\n

Pry also was staff director of the congressionally mandated EMP Commission, which in 2008 looked at the impact of an EMP on the nation\u2019s vital infrastructure.<\/p>\n

    An EMP attack could possibly come from hostile nations, like Iran:<\/p>\n

    WASHINGTON \u2013 Iran\u2019s development of a …\u00a0 \u201cShariah-compliant\u201d bomb could \u201cthreaten the existence of the United States,\u201d according to two experts.<\/p>\n

    The agreement would not prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear device that it could detonate at high altitude over the U.S. to create an electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, that would destroy the nation\u2019s critical infrastructure, write James Woolsey, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and Peter Vincent Pry, executive director of the EMP task Force on National and Homeland Security, in the Washington Times.<\/p>\n

    Iran could obtain such a device relatively easily \u201cby cheating in the use of the nuclear infrastructure permitted them under the agreement,\u201d they assert.<\/p>\n

    Because an EMP destroys electronics directly but people indirectly, it is regarded by some Muslim scholars as a \u201cShariah-compliant\u201d use of a nuclear weapon,\u201d Woolsey and Pry explain. …<\/p>\n

    Pry said that the Iranians already know the capability of an EMP and recently acquired sanctions-prohibited surge arresters to harden \u201ckey facilities against EMP attack for some time.\u201d<\/p>\n

    \u201cSince Iran openly admits it is cheating on EMP filters \u2013 going to great trouble and expense to circumvent international sanctions prohibiting the import of EMP filters \u2013 it seems very likely they would continue to cheat to advance their even higher priority nuclear weapons program,\u201d Pry told WND. …<\/p>\n

    \u201cIran\u2019s recently translated military textbook and other military writings describe making a nuclear EMP attack against the United States as a way of defeating the U.S. and eliminating America as an actor on the world stage,\u201d Pry told WND. \u201cIs Iran protecting itself against nuclear EMP attack a reflection of what it plans to do to others?\u201d<\/p>\n

    Pry said that Iran has orbited several satellites on south polar trajectories to evade U.S. early-warning radars and the National Missile Defense System at altitudes that would place an EMP field over all 48 contiguous U.S. states.<\/p>\n

    He said North Korean scientists are in Iran helping Tehran with its missile and satellite programs.<\/p>\n

    Pry suggested to WND that the Obama administration may already know that Iran has a nuclear EMP capability that could \u201cthreaten America\u2019s existence.\u201d<\/p>\n

    The USA faces a massive threat from EMP-related issues. The USA itself has been developing EMP bomb technology (see US Air Force develops electromagnetic pulse weapon<\/a>), which, of course, also encourages other nations to do so. Plus, the USA is likely to share that technology with Europe.<\/p>\n

    Jesus taught of a time of “troubles” that would come in Mark 13. While most in the USA act like it will go on indefinitely and cannot truly be brought down, the reality is that EMP and other events can devastate the USA.\u00a0 I believe a combination of ‘black swan’ events including terrorism, weather issues, debt problems, and crop failures, which are consistent with Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:4-8, etc. will hit the USA and make it vulnerable to its prophesied takeover (cf. Daniel 11:39).<\/p>\n
