It was announced that Pope Francis has won the ‘Charlemagne Prize’ for 2016:<\/p>\n

BERLIN (AP) \u2014 Pope Francis has been named as the winner of the International Charlemagne Prize, awarded annually by the German city of Aachen for contributions to European unity.<\/p>\n

The prize committee said Wednesday that the pontiff has sent “a message of hope and encouragement” at a time in which “many citizens in Europe are seeking orientation,” news agency dpa reported.<\/p>\n

Pope Francis is slated to be the next recipient of the annual award, which is handed out by the German city of Aachen in honor of those who promote European unity.<\/p>\n

More specifically, the prize is given to people or institutions “distinguished by their outstanding work toward European unity or cooperation between its states.”<\/p>\n

The prize committee said Wednesday the leader of 1.2 billion Catholics has acted as a “voice of conscience” urging Europe to put people and values at the center of its politics.<\/p>\n

“In these times, in which many citizens in Europe seek orientation, His Holiness Pope Francis sends a message of love and encouragement,” the prize committee said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The Vatican has long pushed European unity.<\/p>\n

The Bible tells of a unity between Europe and the church on the seven-hills in Revelation 17:5-9.<\/p>\n

Although that relationship will end (Revelation 17:15-16), the Bible tells of a religious leader who is instrumental in promoting the final European Beast of the sea in Revelation 13.<\/p>\n

This year, Pope Francis has been working towards not only European unity, but his version of religious unity, as well as ‘climate change’ unity around the world.<\/p>\n

Despite warnings about this in the Bible in places such as the 17th and 18th chapter of the Book of Revelation, Pope Francis continues to promote something that the Bible warns against.<\/p>\n
