{"id":360,"date":"2008-03-26T21:23:21","date_gmt":"2008-03-27T05:23:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/wcg-news\/cogwriter-and-quantcast\/"},"modified":"2008-03-26T21:33:23","modified_gmt":"2008-03-27T05:33:23","slug":"cogwriter-and-quantcast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/cog-news\/cogwriter-and-quantcast\/","title":{"rendered":"COGwriter and Quantcast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" width=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/internet-users-by-country-s.gif\" height=\"157\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>The\u00a0Above Map Show the Number of Internet Users Around the World By Country<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/cogwriter.htm\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">COGwriter<\/font><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, March 23, 2008, I thought I would do an experiment and place the Quantcast tag on three of the COGwriter web pages.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I then noticed this evening (March 26, 2008) that one at the AW site posted Quantcast statistics.<\/p>\n<p>Well, apparently to be counted by Quantcast, one either needs to have no Quantcast tags or a tag on all pages.\u00a0 As there are about 800 pages at COGwriter, I did an experiment with only placing it on three.<\/p>\n<p>And instead of my Quancast rating being over 20,000 (it was something like 23,000 before I added the tags on Sunday), it dropped mightily in three days.\u00a0 And since\u00a0the visits to the cogwriter.com site have stayed high, I have concluded that putting the tags on was\u00a0not a good move, so I just removed them a few minutes ago.<\/p>\n<p>That is why Quantcast has the odd report on this site that states:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Global Reach: 5,290<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>US Reach: 4,112<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>Rank: <strong>286409<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Monthly Page Views: <strong>21,330<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Monthly Uniques: <strong>5,290<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because the truth is that the COGwriter site has\u00a0around 24,000 US unique visitors per month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And the COGwriter site has over 100,000 page views per month, and nearly one million hits so far this year.<\/p>\n<p>So, now that I took the tags off, perhaps Quantcast will correct itself.\u00a0 And if so, we will see how long it takes as I suspect they change their statistics faster when you add their tags than when you remove them.<\/p>\n<p>(Normally they seem to take a month before they change stats.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Above Map Show the Number of Internet Users Around the World By Country\u00a0 COGwriter On Sunday, March 23, 2008, I thought I would do an experiment and place the Quantcast tag on three of the COGwriter web pages.\u00a0 I then noticed this evening (March 26, 2008) that one at the AW site posted Quantcast statistics.
