The police shooting of a man in Charlotte, N.C., sparked overnight protests and unrest, temporarily shutting down a major interstate in the area.<\/p>\n

The protests began Tuesday night after police shot and killed 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott at an apartment complex near the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.<\/p>\n

Officers were at the complex to serve a warrant for a different man, The Associated Press reports, when they saw Scott in a car. Police say he came out of the vehicle with a gun.<\/p>\n

At a press conference on Wednesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Chief Kerr Putney said that officers gave the man multiple verbal warnings to drop his weapon before he was shot. Putney says a handgun was recovered on the scene, and that witnesses corroborated the officer’s accounts. …<\/p>\n

Officer Brentley Vinson shot Scott, who later died in the hospital, the AP reports. Vinson, who has been with the department for two years, is on administrative leave while police investigate the shooting \u2014 standard department procedure, the wire service says.<\/p>\n

Both Vinson and Scott are black.<\/p>\n

After the shooting, the woman who says she’s Scott’s daughter streamed live on Facebook for an hour, as Nick de la Canal of member station WFAE reported<\/a>. Police in Charlotte, N.C., shot and killed a black man they said was armed outside an apartment complex Tuesday, setting off violent protests\u00a0that continued late into the night and left about two dozen people injured.<\/p>\n

A large crowd of demonstrators gathered\u00a0near the scene of the shooting Tuesday night to protest the killing of Keith Lamont Scott, who was fatally shot by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department\u00a0officer earlier in the day. Scott\u2019s family insisted he was not armed when he was killed.<\/p>\n

The demonstrations began peacefully, with some people chanting \u201cblack lives matter\u201d and \u201chands up, don\u2019t shoot.\u201d News reports and posts on social media later showed police in riot gear firing tear gas and rubber bullets at the demonstrators and some people smashing out the windows of police cars.<\/p>\n

Early Wednesday morning, protesters shut down\u00a0traffic on\u00a0Interstate 85. Some protesters opened up the backs of tractor trailers, took out boxes and set them on fire in the middle of the highway, WSOC reported<\/a>. The station spoke to one truck driver who said people stole\u00a0cargo from her trailer. Police\u00a0reportedly used flash grenades to break up the crowd and had cleared the highway by early morning.<\/p>\n

A few dozen other people broke down the doors of a nearby Walmart, then disbursed when police arrived, according to WSOC.<\/p>\n

Police said 12 officers\u00a0were injured during the demonstrations, one of them hit in the face with a rock.\u00a0At least 11\u00a0people were\u00a0taken from the\u00a0demonstrations and treated for non-life threatening injuries, hospital officials told\u00a0WSOC.\u00a0https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/morning-mix\/wp\/2016\/09\/21\/protests-break-out-in-charlotte-after-police-fatally-shoot-man-they-say-wielded-firearm\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Those protests erupted hours after the family of Terence Crutcher, 40, condemned his fatal shooting by a white Tulsa, Oklahoma, police officer. The family disputed a statement by police that Crutcher, who was unarmed, was reaching into his vehicle when he was shot by white police officer Betty Shelby.<\/p>\n

Two police videos of the Tulsa shooting that have been broadcast widely since their release on Monday have stoked the debate, with U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton calling the contents “unbearable.”\u00a0http:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/police-shootings-probed-north-carolina-oklahoma-501151<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It is unclear if there has actually been more police violence this year compared to the past, but we are seeing more protests associated with some police shootings.<\/p>\n

As the USA moves further away from biblically-related morality and justice, increased violence is expected.<\/p>\n

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has attacked both, arguing that the movements would touch off a new crime epidemic.<\/p>\n

Of course, the United States still has a terrible problem with violent crime.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Many cities endure rates of violence that undermine our efforts to promote decent and successful community life. Major cities \u2014 including Chicago, Milwaukee and Baltimore \u2014 reported significant increases in homicide in 2015. Many are having a tough 2016, too. Chicago already has had 500 homicides. The annual toll was 422 only two years ago. …<\/p>\n

The USA clearly does have a problem with violence.<\/p>\n

Violence, itself, often begets violence.<\/p>\n

The Bible teaches:<\/p>\n

9 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Enough, O princes of Israel! Remove violence and plundering, execute justice and righteousness (Ezekiel 45:9)<\/p>\n

9…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:9-10)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As far as violence goes, the Bible shows that God is against violence and that destruction will come because of it:<\/p>\n

23 ‘Make a chain,
\nFor the land is filled with crimes of blood,
\nAnd the city is full of violence.<\/strong>
\n24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,
\nAnd they will possess their houses;
\nI will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,
\nAnd their holy places shall be defiled. (Ezekiel 7:23-24)<\/p>\n

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting<\/strong>; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality…30…violent<\/strong>, proud, boasters,…31…unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them<\/strong>. Notice the violence is prophesied to result in the worst of the Gentiles to come and take possession of houses–this will happen to the USA during the Great Tribulation (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?<\/a>).<\/p>\n

There will be more violence in the USA.<\/p>\n

Even now, it can be said of various cities in the USA, “the city is full of violence.<\/strong>”<\/p>\n
