The President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz has spoken out against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, as have other European leaders (see President of EU\u2019s parliament backs Hillary Clinton and warns against Donald Trump<\/a>). But do some European leaders secretly want a Donald Trump presidency?<\/p>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

An adage in corrupted American politics is, “never waste a good crisis.”<\/p>\n

Some in Europe tend to operate that way as well.<\/p>\n

Why Europe Secretly Roots For Donald Trump<\/h3>\n

Careful observers of European politics might be forgiven for asking if \u2014 behind the exclamation of shock and horror over the prospect of a Donald Trump presidency \u2014 they don\u2019t detect the occasional wry smile or hint of giddiness when the conversation turns to the U.S. Republican presidential candidate.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To be sure, hardly a day goes by without some senior European official voicing grave concerns over the possibility that\u00a0Trump\u00a0might win the elections. European Parliament President Martin Schulz\u00a0warned<\/a>\u00a0recently that Trump \u201cwould be a problem not just for the EU but for the whole world.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And yet, in some quarters at least, the Trump cloud carries with it at least a sliver of silver lining. <\/strong>No European politician will say so publicly, but to some on the Continent, Trump presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity for emancipation from American influence.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To varying degrees, America-bashing has been a mainstay on both the Right and Left of European politics for decades. <\/strong>From GMOs to Guantanamo, from the drone war to the death penalty, European politicians have rarely had difficulty finding reasons to rail against the U.S.<\/p>\n

\n

In fact, the evils of U.S. influence is one of the few things that European politicians from nearly every slice of the political spectrum can agree upon. In Germany, for example, one is just as likely to see an \u201cAmi Go Home\u201d (Ami\u00a0is German slang for American) poster at a rally for the Left party as at a gathering of the far-right\u00a0Alternative for Germany.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Just as the EU served as a convenient whipping post for British politicians of all stripes in recent decades, culminating in the Brexit vote, the U.S. serves a similar purpose for many European politicians.<\/strong> Even those who profess a deep commitment to the transatlantic relationship often can\u2019t resist using the U.S. as a rhetorical foil to deflect attention from their own vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n

As long as moderate politicians occupy the White House, anti-American politicians will find it difficult to turn their rhetoric into reality. A Trump presidency would force a rethink.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just last week, Jean-Claude Juncker, hailing the Commission\u2019s crackdown on Apple\u2019s Irish tax penalty in his State of the Union\u00a0speech<\/a>, declared: \u201cEurope is not the Wild West.\u201d Anyone listening knew that \u201cWild West\u201d means America. \u201cWe are not the United States of Europe,\u201d Juncker added, to applause from the assembled MEPs. \u201cWe are much more diverse in Europe and stronger.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Most Europeans at the center of Europe\u2019s political spectrum genuinely fear the consequences of a Trump victory and a weakening of the Transatlantic relationship. But others smell an opportunity too good to be allowed to pass. …<\/p>\n

The birth\u00a0of an EU army:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The U.S. has guaranteed Europe\u2019s security for decades through NATO, effectively placing a giant security umbrella over most of the Continent. That reliance doesn\u2019t sit well with everyone.<\/p>\n

Though Europe doesn\u2019t have anywhere near the military resources of the U.S. (American military spending accounts for about 75 percent of the NATO total), politicians in France and Germany are eager to get to work on a\u00a0European defense force<\/a>. The idea isn\u2019t new and faces myriad hurdles, mainly the question of how to finance it on Europe\u2019s shoestring budget.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, a Trump victory would give the initiative a major boost. As with the trade deal, Trump would likely be happy to let the Europeans fend for themselves. He has made no secret of his\u00a0distaste<\/a>\u00a0for Europe\u2019s reliance on the U.S. military. Conversely, few Europeans would welcome Trump as commander-in-chief. I have been saying for a long time that Donald Trump’s rise would encourage the Europeans to arm. Others are starting to come to the same conclusion.<\/p>\n

Should he actually become President of the United States, his flamboyance and brashness are bound to offend the Europeans, and ultimately that will not turn out well for the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39). Donald Trump has already offended the Europeans, though he gets along with some. Some of his statements may be leading to the rise of the prophesied King of the North<\/a>, who is to be the final leader of the Beast\u00a0of Revelation<\/a> (Revelation 13:1). He is so offensive to some of them, that more will decide that they do not wish to rely on the USA as a close partner and will work towards alternative.\u00a0(Thiel B. Many Europeans see Donald Trump as a threat. A threat that is turning Europe away from the USA. NATO is a military alliance, and thus, the Europeans must be considering various military options. …\u00a0Donald Trump is impacting European views of the USA\u2013this will not bode well for the USA. …\u00a0 Even if Donald Trump does not become US President, the fact that Donald Trump has done as well with voters as he has is an offense to the Europeans and is getting them to question their connections to the USA.\u00a0(Thiel B. Donald Trump wants Europe to rearm. And if he becomes President of the USA, expect him to badly insult the Europeans. Even if he does not gain the presidency, even the possibility of a Trump presidency has offended many in Europe and this is contributing to a realization in Europe that it will need to better arm itself and become more independent of the USA (watch, for one example, the video Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg and Europe\u2019s Future<\/a>). Donald Trump will drive Europe further away\u00a0 from the USA.\u00a0(Thiel B. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump win \u2014 a sign of the \u2018last days\u2019?<\/a> COGwriter,\u00a0 April 27 , 2016)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why did I write those things?<\/p>\n

Three main reasons based upon Donald Trump’s own statements and biblical prophecy.<\/p>\n

The first is that the Bible shows that Europe will end up with a large army:<\/p>\n

25 “He shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the South with a great army. (Daniel 11:25)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The “he” above is the European King of the North<\/a> Beast power.<\/p>\n

The second is that this Beast power is going to surprise the world with its military success:<\/p>\n

3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:3-4)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The world will marvel because it did not think that the European Beast<\/a>, King of the North<\/a> , power could possibly beat the USA militarily.<\/p>\n

Beat the USA militarily?<\/p>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n

The third reason to warn about Donald Trump and Europe is because of the following prophecy:<\/p>\n

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:39)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The “he” above is the European King of the North<\/a> Beast power. The power with the strongest military fortresses in the 21st century is presently the USA.\u00a0 But it will be defeated by Europe (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Does this mean that a Hillary Clinton presidency will not lead to the Europeans rising up?<\/p>\n

No, and I wrote a book related to that (see Hillary Clinton, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It is just that\u00a0 considering some of Donald Trump’s statements in the light on biblical prophecy, make it clear, to me at least, that he will encourage the Europeans to arm.<\/p>\n

Others now seem to see that.<\/p>\n

And since various European leaders have wanted to have a European army for some time, Donald Trump’s rise, whether he wins or not, will help encourage the formation of a European army. A large European army will form (Daniel 11:25) and this will not end well for the USA (Daniel 11:39; Isaiah 10:5-12).<\/p>\n
