It is alleged that Russia’s Vladimir Putin did not want Greece to leave the European Union<\/a> (also called a Grexit, for GReek EXIT from the EU):<\/p>\n

October 14, 2016<\/p>\n

French President Francois Hollande revealed that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras wanted to print Drachmas in Russia.<\/strong>As KeepTalkingGreece.com details, <\/a>in a book \u201cPresidents should not talk about such things\u201d<\/em><\/strong> Hollande speaks about a conservation he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin in summer of 2015, the peak of the Greek crisis before the government surrendered to the European lenders.<\/p>\n

Hollande received a phone call by Putin who said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to give you this information. Greece asked us to print Drachmas because they have no longer a printer for this. I want to tell you that this is something [\u00a0apparently the Grexit] that\u00a0we do not want.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The book author note that this Greek request was a proof that Greece was thinking to exit the eurozone.<\/p>\n

Hollande wondered why Putin passed him over such an information. …<\/p>\n

Greek reaction<\/span><\/h3>\n

Speaking to Greek media, government sources confirmed that there were contacts with President Putin but that \u201cat no time the Greek PM discussed such an issue.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

But what about Russia?<\/p>\n

It is my view that Russia feels that it can better deal with Europe than the USA.<\/p>\n

Because of this, it wants to be seen as helpful to the Europeans. Therefore, it is certainly possible that Vladimir Putin decided not to support a possible Grexit.<\/p>\n
