No one outside of a few obsessed cranks would\u2019ve noticed it if the\u00a0WaPo hadn\u2019t given it front page prominence last week: a formerly obscure web site, propornot.com, which purports to identify a \u201cRussian active measures\u201d campaign with some very specific goals in mind As\u00a0WaPo\u00a0\u201creporter\u201d Craig Timberg\u00a0put it<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The flood of \u2018fake news\u2019 this election season got support from a sophisticated Russian propaganda campaign that created and spread misleading articles online with the goal of punishing Hillary Clinton, helping Donald Trump and undermining faith in Pindosi democracy, say independent researchers who tracked the operation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While the\u00a0WaPo\u00a0piece doesn\u2019t link directly to the propornot site, because doing so would\u2019ve exposed\u00a0its laughably amateurish \u201cmethodology\u201d<\/a>\u00a0for all to see, Timberg does mention their list of online\u00a0Boris Badenovs<\/a>, including not only Antiwar.com, but also the Drudge Report, WikiLeaks, David Stockman\u2019s Contra Corner, the Ron Paul Institute, LewRockwell.com, Counterpunch, Zero Hedge, Naked Capitalism, Truthdig, Truth-out, and a host of others. These sites, according to the\u00a0WaPo, not only promoted a barrage of \u201cfake news\u201d with the aim of defeating Hillary Clinton, but they did so at the behest of a \u201ccentrally-directed\u201d (per propornot) intelligence operation undertaken by the Russians. So what did this \u201cfake news\u201d consist of? Timberg \u201creports\u201d:<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s increasingly sophisticated propaganda machinery, including thousands of botnets, teams of paid human \u2018trolls,\u2019 and networks of websites and social-media accounts, echoed and amplified right-wing sites across the Internet as they portrayed Clinton as a criminal hiding potentially fatal health problems and preparing to hand control of the nation to a shadowy cabal of global financiers. The effort also sought to heighten the appearance of international tensions and promote fear of looming hostilities with nuclear-armed Russia.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Never mind that it was Hillary Clinton herself who heightened international tensions by threatening military retaliation against the Russians for supposedly unleashing via WikiLeaks a flood of embarrassing emails.\u00a0In a speech<\/a>\u00a0touted as outlining her foreign policy platform, she railed:<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve seen reports. Russia\u2019s hacked into a lot of things. China\u2019s hacked into a lot of things. Russia even hacked into the DNC, maybe even some state election systems, so we\u2019ve got to step up our game, make sure we are well defended and able to take the fight to those who go after us. As President, I will make it clear that Pindostan will treat cyber-attacks just like any other attack. We will be ready with serious political, economic\u00a0and military responses.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to the \u201cexperts\u201d at propornot, granted anonymity by Timberg due to alleged fear of \u201cRussian hackers,\u201d to so much as note this clear threat is to brand oneself as a \u201cRussian agent of influence.\u201d And what about Hillary Clinton\u2019s health problems? Was reporting on this driven by Russian spies embedded in the alternative media? Or was it occasioned by\u00a0this video<\/a>, which saw her falling to the ground after leaving the 9\/11 ceremony early? …<\/p>\n

Are you worried about \u201cWW3, nuclear devastation etc\u201d …<\/p>\n

The\u00a0WaPo\u00a0piece also cites\u00a0an article<\/a>\u00a0published on the \u201cWar On The Rocks\u201d web site, which is exactly what it sounds like. The authors, a triumvirate of neocons, avers that they\u2019ve been \u201ctracking\u201d \u201cRussian propaganda\u201d efforts since 2014 and they\u2019ve concluded that the Grand Goal of the Russkies is to \u201cErode trust between citizens and elected officials and democratic institutions,\u201d as if this process isn\u2019t occurring naturally due to the depredations of a corrupt and arrogant political class. Another insidious theme of Russian \u201cactive measures\u201d as identified by these geniuses is: \u201cstoking fears over the national debt, attacking institutions\u00a0such as the Federal Reserve<\/a>, and attempts to discredit Western financial experts and business leaders.\u201d So we mustn\u2019t talk about the national debt, because to do so brands one as a cog in Putin\u2019s propaganda machine. …<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a list of more Forbidden Topics we\u2019re not supposed to discuss, except maybe in whispers in the privacy of our own homes: \u201cPolice brutality<\/a>, racial tensions,<\/a> protests, anti-government standoffs<\/a>, online privacy concerns<\/a> and alleged government misconduct<\/a>\u201d …<\/p>\n

They accuse the proprietors of the listed web sites, including us, by the way, of having \u201cviolated the Espionage Act, the Foreign Agents Registration Act, and other related laws,\u201d but they say they want to \u201cavoid McCarthyism\u201d! They just want to shut us down and shut us up. These people are authoritarians, plain and simple: under the guise of\u00a0fighting<\/em> authoritarianism, they seek to ban dissenting views, jail the dissenters, and impose a narrow range of permissible debate on the public discourse. They are dangerous, and they need to be outed and publicly shamed. To be included on their list of \u201csubversives\u201d is really a badge of honor, and one we here at Antiwar.com wear proudly.\u00a0https:\/\/niqnaq.wordpress.com\/2016\/11\/28\/stalin-was-right-the-social-fascists-are-worse-than-the-honest-fascists\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As regular readers of this news page are aware, for years I have warned that the time will come when some associated with the government will want this website shut down under the guise of national security, hate speech, or something else.<\/p>\n

Biblical prophecy warns of a time of biblical censorship:<\/p>\n

11 \u201cBehold, the days are coming,\u201d says the Lord God,
\n\u201cThat I will send a famine on the land,
\nNot a famine of bread,
\nNor a thirst for water,
\nBut of hearing the words of the Lord.
\n12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
\nAnd from north to east;
\nThey shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
\nBut shall not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Notice that the Bible tells of a time that will come when the word of God will not be found. And that would seem to be because truth from it will be taken off the internet. In the 21st century, the internet is accessed by people in every country, and thus some type of internet restriction\/suspension\/site removal is coming.<\/p>\n

We are getting closer to this time.<\/p>\n

That is part of why we in the Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a> are preparing for the \u2018short work\u2019 (Romans 9:28) and the coming \u2018famine of the word<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n

The reason that I decided to write about this ‘fake news’ item was that I was struck by how many items that the author (Justin Raimondo) brought out that had potential relationships to biblical prophecy.<\/p>\n

Specifically items such as a corrupt government class (cf. Isaiah 3:12; 9:16; 58:1; see also Should a Christian Vote?<\/a>) what could be called World War 3 (Daniel 11:39; see also World War III: Steps in Progress<\/a>), privacy concerns (Amos 5:13; Psalms 64:2-6; Proverbs 11:13; Revelation 13:16-18; see also Preparing for the ‘Short Work’ and The Famine of the Word<\/a>), and the national debt (Habakkuk 2:6-8; watch also Was USA debt and destruction predicted 2,600 years ago?<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Jesus told His followers to watch world events. After pointing out various end time prophetic events Jesus said:<\/p>\n

30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.\u00a0 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.<\/p>\n

32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.\u00a0 33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.\u00a0 34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.\u00a0 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming \u2014 in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning \u2014\u00a0\u00a0 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.\u00a0 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:30-37)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Understanding how events align with end time biblical predictions is NOT fake news, but is a duty of real Christians.<\/p>\n
