LAS VEGAS \u2014\u00a0<\/span>Police in Las Vegas, Nevada say a man opened fire on a country music concert late Sunday, killing at least 58 people and wounding more than 515 others, in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump called it an “act of pure evil.”<\/p>\n

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police identified the shooter as 64-year-old white male Stephen Paddock from Mesquite, Nevada. The gunman attacked the crowd of over 22,000 from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay casino, located across the street from the outdoor venue where videos showed concertgoers ducking for cover, screaming and running as the repeated shots rang out.<\/p>\n

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said SWAT officers breached the shooter’s hotel room and found him dead. He said it is believed that Paddock killed himself.<\/p>\n

Addressing the nation, President Trump thanked Las Vegas police for their sacrifices and quick responses during the “terrible, terrible attack” and said he would visit the city on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

“To the families of the victims we are praying for you and we are here for you and we ask God to help see you through this very dark period…in moments of tragedy and horror America comes together as one and it always has,” Trump said.<\/p>\n

Motive unknown <\/strong><\/p>\n

A motive for the deadly attack is not known.<\/p>\n

“We don’t know what his belief system was at this time,” the sheriff said, adding that Paddock was not believed to be connected to any militant group.<\/p>\n

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the gunman was one of its “soldiers” and converted to Islam months ago, but did not provide any evidence. U.S. intelligence officials say they are aware of and tracking the claim. https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/a\/multiple-victims-in-las-vegas-shooting\/4052464.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is terrible, whether or not it was Islamic terrorism.<\/p>\n

The Washington Post noted some have improperly politicized this related to gun control:<\/p>\n

In the wake of Sunday night\u2019s mass shooting in Las Vegas that left at least 58 people dead, the attention of those advocating for stricter gun control laws seized on a current debate in Washington. The Hearing Protection Act<\/a>, sponsored by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), would allow more people to purchase silencers for firearms \u2014 which, some argued, would have made the shooting in Vegas much deadlier.<\/p>\n

Among those making that case was Hillary Clinton.\u00a0\u201cThe crowd fled at the sound of gunshots,\u201d Clinton wrote on Twitter<\/a>. \u201cImagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the effect of having a silencer probably would have been negligible.\u00a0Clinton and others appear to be\u00a0assuming that silencers \u2014 or \u201csuppressors,\u201d as they\u2019re known in the industry \u2014 work the way that they do in the movies. Screw a little barrel on the end of your pistol, and you can run through enemy headquarters picking off bad guys with no more audio footprint than a little zip<\/em>. …<\/p>\n

Asymmetric Solutions<\/a>, a firearm training firm based in Missouri. In many ways, the USA is getting more and more divided.<\/p>\n

There is violence in the USA.<\/p>\n

Violence, itself, often begets violence. So, sadly, we seem to be seeing more and more shootings and terror.<\/p>\n

The Bible teaches:<\/p>\n

9 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Enough, O princes of Israel! Remove violence and plundering, execute justice and righteousness (Ezekiel 45:9)<\/p>\n

9…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:9-10)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As far as violence goes, the Bible shows that God is against violence and that destruction will come because of it:<\/p>\n

23 ‘Make a chain,
\nFor the land is filled with crimes of blood,
\nAnd the city is full of violence.<\/strong>
\n24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,
\nAnd they will possess their houses;
\nI will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,
\nAnd their holy places shall be defiled. (Ezekiel 7:23-24)<\/p>\n

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting<\/strong>; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality…30…violent<\/strong>, proud, boasters,…31…unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them<\/strong>. (Romans 1:28-32)<\/p>\n

8…And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. ( Habakkuk 2:8)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Notice the violence is prophesied to result in the worst of the Gentiles to come and take possession of houses–this will happen to the USA during the Great Tribulation (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?<\/a>).<\/p>\n
